Severely underrated movie. Need a new one made. NOT A REMAKE OR NOTHING! A continuation of the storyline. Simple. But you know Hollywood and Disney will DEI and go woke with it. Probably gender swap the characters too. The bass turds.

You are absolutely right. It was my mistake, van Helsing is one of my favorite characters both in the book and in the movie, epecially in the scene where he confronts Lucy imposing: "We are strong in the Lord and the power of his might!"

I thought both the book and the movie were excellent. I did prefer the book a tad bit more but that's always the case with me, lol. Actually, I might read/watch them again as I was pretty young the last time. It'll be interesting to see what I pick up this time around. Thanks!

This is a good review/summation of this movie. All these elements you described are a delicate balance to achieve in a movie. While the music did help shape the movie, it was almost a substitute to where our connection to the main character and our shared experience would meet. It is this exact set up that elicits the sense of torture. This movie walks a tightrope in expressing this while also being able to sustain a viewers attention. What elements draw you back in other than curiosity? Perhaps this is where the actors make a difference in nuance and I have always had a hard time with TC in that way. I might watch the original one too see what the differences are and if I might learn something else. BTW, I watched Solaris based off one of your reviews and I really loved it. Thanks!

Thank you very much for your comment. I'm glad you're enjoying the reviews. The goal is precisely this: to present the topics concisely so that the viewer can discover these subjects that are often outside of the mainstream media. When we talk about Tom Cruise, it may seem like a paradox to discuss a more underground topic because he is a global star. However, for me, "Vanilla Sky" is still a hidden gem and underrated. The criticism at the time focused a lot on the fact that the film was a remake of a recent movie. However, many great works of cinema are remakes of other films. "Solaris" itself has a quite respectable remake with George Clooney. Still, regarding TC, despite current generations perhaps seeing him as an action movie actor, I consider him a spectacular actor, and some films prove this: besides "Vanilla Sky" itself, I would mention "Eyes Wide Shut" and "Interview with the Vampire" as memorable performances.
