This song is from a British paper book entitled RUGBY SONGS, there were RUGBY SONGS vol1 & Vol2. The song has been re-written and extended numerous times, but originally started "there was an old sailor who sat on a rock". I possessed both of these volumes in the late 1960's and I doubt if the ARROGANT WORMS or this particular gentleman was around then.
To the best of my recollection the original song goes There was an old sailor who sat on a rock shaking his fist and abusing his neighbouring farmer who watching his tricks, was teaching his children to play with their snobs and their marbles as in days of yore when along came a woman who looked like a decent young lady but she walked like a duck she said she was learning a new way to bring up her children and teach them to knit while the lads in the farmyard were shovelling the contents of the pig-sty in the muck and the mud and the squire in his mansion was pulling his horse from the stable to go to the hunt while his wife in her boudoir was powdering her nose and arranging her vanity box and taking precautions to ward off the gout and rheumatics which made her feel sick for well she remembered her last dose of what did you think I was going to say you dirty old fuckers that all for today.
