First two episodes were great! This channel is such a strange person. Skip the sequel trilogy, they were akin to GoT Season 8. Everything else is majority fantastic. The best part of the recent content has been none of it to date forces the existence of the Sequels. Hopefully hey will be retconned out of existence, though how a Rey movie fits in remains to be seen. If you haven't seen Rebels, Clone Wars finale, Andor, Rogue One, Bad Batch, or Mandalorian, you are missing out on some of the very best Star Wars content.

I've long liked this episode. I've seen some people try to use it as a lever against Joseph McCarthy, though, which I think is inaccurate. He was trying to point out evils and subversive elements, which turned out to be very real and pervasive. Perhaps there's a lesson in there, though, about how enemies are different from mere political rivals, and how hysteria or the *perception* of hysteria (or accusation thereof) can undermine even the best of intentions. It's absolutely true that villains often cloak themselves in feelgood rhetoric... and it's also true that villains will try to make heroes look like that sort of villain for taking moral positions.

It's a good reflection of the writer's room. The folks penning these stories are immature, emotionally broken, morally dysfunctional children. I'm not at all surprised that such people exist, but I'm vexed that they are increasingly given power and authority.

Yosuke, a black samurai came to Japan in 1579, the exact time the game plays out. Yasuke was bigger and stronger than pretty much any other person in Japan, just like in the game and his time in Japan ending with a war just like the game.

As pathetic as the choice of a black samurai instead of giving us expected Japanese character I don't care, it is a game where you speak with and play as gods after all. It is definitely not a reason to not buy the game and you're call for such sounds to me like crybaby cancel-culture move tbh there is a lot of people who pour their souls into making the game beautiful and full of details for us to enjoy like you can't in a movie per say. To have these people then be told by the community that all their awesome work is shit just because they had to include a black person in Japan is stupid. And about the politics in the games... As much as i agree with how insanely woke most games have gotten these days, yasuke is a very real person who did exist and live during the tail end of Japan's sengoku period which was a period of civil war lasting over 100 years, at that time Japan was not a unified country but made up of hundreds of small countries ruled by feudal lords called daimyo in charge of clans, there used to be a military dictatorship under the ashikaga shogunate whom these daimyo would pay taxes to and serve but after a war between two clans that burned down kyoto, the capital of the ashikaga, all the other clans saw the shogunate as weak and basically started to ignore them for 100 years and fight amongst themselves to gain more power. Yasuke came to japan with italian jesuits, became a samurai and served Oda Nobunaga, the first of three men who would start to unify japan and put an end to the civil war. So in this case it's not just about wokeness for wokeness sake like disney making people black when they aren't supposed to be, but an actual historical figure. There's a funny story about Nobunaga ordering people to try to wash Yasuke because they never saw a black person before and just thought he was dirty but only after his blackness didn't wash off did they realise that was the colour of his skin. It's a very fascinating story

I get frustrated with the forced representation in media too, and agree with all of your logic. But our counter argument in the past was always to write new stories with black characters instead of taking existing characters and making them black for no reason. I don’t think we should be upset about basing their new character off of a real person.

First they start with the egyptian culture and bring a greek main character, we act like nothing is going on. Then prince of Persia, you got the black main character (or protagonist), obviously nothing is happening. Now a black protagonist in japan. While every other culture in the west is pure, an english culture having english protagonist, american culture having native american protagonists, french culture having french protagonist. So yeah, i think any culture except the west's are not worthy to have their own culture be given to them. You can argue with saying "but mirage had an iraqi protagonist in it".
