Had my first go at this today! Mine was much smaller. I had a small ugly piece of log and did a hatchet out of it. Spotted this vid mths ago when I began.. Thanks for posting. It'll look cute by someone's fireplace, next to the log pile.
I kept waiting for the Monty python clip to pop up , the "get on with it!" skit
No ppe what a dumb ass.
What is your favourite small carving bar?
Oh wow this is way cool! Great job.
Great job ! I love it !
Magnifique ❤️
Quality workmanship, definitely one to try after I’ve finished with a few small projects 👌🏼
That’s Amazing!
What size is you small stihl?
Very beautiful work🤩❤️
Great !
Nice looking owl. Great job.
Awesomeness ❤
That is bad ass. I carved a hand gripping a viking sword a while back ago, only much smaller scale, basically the same kind of way on roughing it out. you did an Awesome job there, I definitely want to try this sometime. Also think that spalting towards the bottom looks killer and adds to the piece.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Nice work my friend!!👊😎
very nice
very nice video, very helpful! I'm from Poland, there are a lot of people here who work in wood, but few people want to share their knowledge, and your approach is very cool. with other knowledge. I wish there were more people like this in the world 😀 Greetings to you. I will be watching your channel! I work in wood but not in sculpture... after your video I think I'll start... keep warm
Crackin carving. Good to see an English carver rather than an American on UA-cam.. I have just started carving an owl although smaller with chisels and gouges. Your video has solved a problem with head placement and size. So subscribed.
Nice carving 👌👌
Groot
Very beautiful Barn Owl carving. Maple log? How did you give it the dark coloured eyes? I'd be happy if my first attempt at an owl even remotely looks like a bird.
Ох енно💪👍
Love the owl, nice work. Also love the slabs of wood in the back ground. I’ve done a few of my own by chain saw 20+ years ago and now getting around to using them as live adage shelving. Keep on carving!!
Thank you for your time to write this message and you will have to show me when you have made your shelves 👍
Love ya work bro.. I did my 3rd ever carving. Was the axe and it's insane, My passion is fueled thanks mate.
Glad to help buddy keep on carving 🤘🤘🤘
Nice work. What kind of wood is that?
I believe it t was ash if I remember correctly 👍
what kind of wood is best for this project?
Any hard wood would work best buddy 👍
Can I say as a learning carver I have watched lots on you tube and wanna say this is right up there for helping other carvers so thanks. The only negative was when your carving , guessing camera on helmet. Was really hard to see what your doing at times as the camera angle is changing so fast. Hope to see many more teaching videos on carving by you appreciate it
Amazing
Nice piece
Thanks buddy
very good. really beautiful
Klasse gemacht Gruß Stefan aus Bamberg Deutschland
🤘🤘
Great video how big was the log
Thank you! It was about 3ft tall 👍
keep karving...nice:)

Nice job m8 ,ive just been building my self a man cave for wood stuff just a few bits to go and im sorted, you have inspired me ,thanks for showing ,we create as humans because we imitate our great creator himself, who made everything ,as for those that just sit around gaming i feel there missing out on tapping into an inner peace. But each to there own if im not fixing making or creating i feel i might as well be 6ft under lol, ive subd. greetings from Wales UK.
I’m glad I could help buddy thank you for your subscription and more power to you, I would like to see what your plans are for the man cave, sounds interesting 👍🏴
That's great Kutzall bits

Man that’s awesome!
Thanks mate I was thinking of doing a full video on this if the short gos well 👍
Good stuff
Thanks 👍
This question is for any one, New to carving( only been doing it about a few weeks) very limited on income( do to a cancer diagnosis) but my question is if you could have one saw to carve with what would it be? Bar? Chain? I have my grandfathers old chain saw( it’s about 15 years old) any information would be greatly appreciated thanks
That’s a tough one ☝️ If I was limited to one saw it would probably be a stihl MS 261 , as you could get multiple different bars to cater for Carving plus she would still have the power to the big cuts the only downside is after some time the saw would become heavy but I would just deal with that hope this helps 👍
Yes sir, thank you
waste not want not
Yes it can all be used
GROOT is cool👍
Just curious how much do your owls sell for
It depends on the size and time I spend on them but anywhere between £200 and £400 👍
I love the wings man!! Great idea!🤙
Good job, turned out nice. 1 question why not put the torch to the wood a bit to bring out different shades? What type of good is that?
I try to create detail with just the tools I used to burn all my carvings but I prefer to use depth to create natural shadows when the light hits it. Thanks for the comment
That's one of the best woodspirits I've seen! The depth is unbelievable and the way you nailed every featurw!...badass!!
Thank you very much Ryan 👍
Great skills Lee , 👌
