Pod Trailer Tent and Awning Setup - James Baroud Tent and 30 Second Awning Setup
Great video. And I just became your 1000th subscriber! :)
Hi mate, it looks to come out a fair way and there seems to be a fair bit of rocking up & down movement with those centre arms. Is the cantilever effect a concern for you? It looks to be putting stress on the hinges, and also backing plate & brackets.
Nice review. 👍 Did you use all 3 of the Kaon brackets, i.e. does the back of the awning plate cater for using 3 brackets. Also, does any water collect inside the awning bag/cover in rain or when driving in rain. Cheers.
Hi Brett. Can you please advise name of light installed at rear and what is involved for the install? Can you also advise details of your solar panel(s) that you have mounted on the roof of this camper (including brand name, mounting details, with brand name of (dimensions and thickness) the supporting lightweight backboard, wattage, etc.)? Pics, videos would also be good to show this detail. At 22.32 - what is the spec of that power outlet please? At 24.26 - what is the name/spec of the external USB chargers mounted please? What (if any) changes would you like to this setup with time and experience since this video was taken? Cameron
Good demo. Very useful. Thanks
hi great video, if you don't mind what are the overall dimensions of this pull out kitchen?
Fantastic review Brett. I have watched this and your other Ulti clips several times now as I progress my research for the next camper. Think it is time to move on from the Dot7 now the kids are not camping as often . The Ultimate is an amazing camper and ticks a lot of boxes.
Great video! I also considered starlink but was driven away by the costs and how large it is. What I use is HomeFi and it has been great and super reliable for me! I use their portable home internet for my RV.
Does super pegs 180 free standing awning have legs so it can be tied down if there is a wind flare up. I am only interested in the 180 not 270 -- outbound shield 3 as I have a ranger with a trig point canopy so the 270 is no good because my tyre and ladder are on back and with a 270 cannot climb the ladder to the roof rack
Nice setup mate. What’s your approach for getting in and out of the JB when it is raining? Looks like your ladder is exposed.
The road to the Dig Tree is horrific. Never again will I go there, it's not worth it.
Changes so much year to year. I find that’s part of what makes the corner country so good… it’s still remote and can be challenge to get to.
Nicely done. I'm considering one of these. Are you still happy with it, anything you don't like about it?
Still very happy with it. No concerns at this time!
Wicked set up mate love it, where and who fabricated the awning pole gas struts on your set up matey?
Great set up mate I’ve got a similar set up on my pod rig and also have the stone guard too but would love to know what brand that rack is for your maxtrax as I’d like to put one on ours thanks 🙏🏽
Disappointed you didn’t have bags for the D035 hitch lock and the shower floor grate 😂
A you get in and pack the drawers and fridge without opening up the camper, or is it all full of canvas?
Great video , thank you
Very informative. Thanks
Hi Brett - appreciate your time and effort in providing your videos. Can you confirm the brand of pots and pans you mentioned? Thanks
Great video Brett. Some good tips. Just looking at getting back to using my DOT, transitioning from family to more solo camping with it. Got a few tweaks planned, this looks like a great upgrade.
Loved the setup
Hey mate, thanks for the walk through. Any issues with dust ingress seeing as it has a tailgate? Usually that's a big weak point with dual cab utes

Oh yeah!!!! Love Tetris!!!
We use a 265 in our camper trailer and tent, so this video answers a lot of questions. Thanks. (After 54 yrs, privacy is not an issue....LOL)
Probably the best video I have seen on the Ultimate trailer. Going to save so I can show to Ultimate, if I order.....
Thank you so much!!!!
Hi Brett. A quick question, How does the 360 awning act in stronger winds? TIA,
It’s held up really well. Must use the tie down ropes. Storms have been fine.
Absolutely incredible. Magic!
Thank you!!!!
Hi Brett. Could i please get some advice from you re the tap setup. I'm having trouble finding a suitable tap to hook up to my Seaflo pump. Could you please tell me which tap you are using as that looks like what I'm after. Thank you
How much weight can you put on the bed mate ? I’m 6’7 and 180kgs The girl is about 80 kgs
Heaps! I don’t know the actually limits, but the system is designed to take lots of weight!!!
Do you know where I could get a bracket to fit the awning to the side? I have the older DOT6 that had the large folding RTT. Thanks
Good work, thanks 😊
Cheers!!!
How much does it weigh with all the accessories including RTT
just bumped into this review, excellent!
Thank you!
I really like this video I had like 8 hours looking for something like this this gives all the information I need thank you so much
Glad it helped!
excellent stuff
Thank you kindly!
Great work, and I love your videos. Who do you get to do the non electrical work for you? I know COGS does the electrical stuff, but I'd love a SE QLD recommendation for the other fit out stuff. Cheers.
COGS does non-electrical as well!
Great vid thanks Brett. Curious on your camper trailer journey and if the TVan came into the thought process ? I am considering the Nexus and Tvan. Love the Nexus for space, kitchen and storage. Slight compromise of dealing with canvas. Tvan can do a quick set up and no canvas. But in my understanding Tvan bed area not great for tall people like me. Hence I am leaning to the Nexus
Yes we look at the TVAN, but didn't go that way due to the small cabin space around the bed, and the lack of a water-tight cooking area. For us, getting in out of the insects and rain when we want to was a critical buying decision. We traded off the setup time to get that.
Great trip Brett … I am going in October from Melb for 4 weeks and doing Cameron corner , flinders rangers Haddin corner and will take your advise on the Birdsville to poepel corner overnight
Outstanding - that will be an EPIC trip mate!!!
Great video How long does it take to go from big red to poeppel corner
It’s a solid daytime drive. 8 or 9 hours depending on how rough the track is - which is a seasonal thing.
Cheers Brett for you great video, it’s the first I’ve seen showing the awning bracket in use. how high do you reckon the awning goes up? I’m on the tall side 😊
It’s goes up a really long way and you could put extra holes in it to lock it in place at a higher level.
Hey mate, what is the weight limit with the RTT directly on the lid of the Pod? I😅 wanted to do the same but thought there was only like 50KG allowed this way? Cheers
Weight limit goes up with the Stockman reinforcing braces etc. Their website says load rated to 80kg moving with their rooftop tent lid upgrade.
Awesome setup! Thanks for sharing these upgrades.
Absolutely my pleasure!!
Love the Pod setup and been getting great tips and ideas. Love to know more on the tap you used and the other side that leads to the rear. How you setup the fitting that leads to your drifta setup.
Sent a couple of photos! And I'll have to do a more detailed video now that the build is almost complete...
Thanks Brett, where do I find the images?
@@xplore.with.mike-Z I think you messaged me on Facebook and I replied with the images there.
@@iLuvDirt don’t think it was me but just found you there and sent you a message.
@@xplore.with.mike-Z Thanks - will grab them and send them to you!
Hi Brett, can you please comment on weight with the accessories and upgrades?
G'day! Great question!! I've got a set of scales at home, so I'll get them out and give it a weigh. I've been keen to know myself, as it would be a killer trailer to run behind the new Jimny! They Jimny can tow 1300kg and I think the Pod Extreme ATM is 1200kg. Watch this space - I'll post something soon!
I have literally just picked up my phone after purchasing a cast iron camp oven for camping and seen this. Google really are watching as well as listening. This is awesome. Damper in the rain now easier than ever.
Heck yes!!! Love it JL!!!

G’day bud, nice one mate, great little addition indeed. It’s that old saying Brett, there’s no bad camping, just bad preparation 😁👍😉 top stuff mate, hope you’re well
Agreed!!! Thanks mate!!
hi there is the TVMS standard on the Nexus?
I believe the TVMS is an Option for the Nexus.
Thanks Brett, with the awning improvements, who did the work and if it was a business please advise? Also more detail on exactly what changes you made to the attachment points to square it up. In principal the lifting sleeves are a great idea but in reality either poor workmanship (if misaligned) or poor design make it almost impossible to lower my awning alone. Stockman did the work. Very disappointing. It is a nightmare and takes longer to pull the awning down successfully, alone, than it takes to pack up the rest of my setup. Some more detail on who/how fixed yours would be appreciated please.
Mine is the stockman one. Custom off grid solutions at Enoggera in Brisbane did the adjustments. I still need to try putting a shim inside the post to see if that smooths out the lifting process. I know we will sort this as Drifta had the same mechanism on their trailers; and I’ve used those many times without issue!!!
@@iLuvDirt I’ll be interested to see how you go.
