I don’t like when Louis accuses Joe of not being relatable to average people in one breath, then says “we should just open the border and let everyone pour in so there are more problems” in the next. Trump won twice for a reason. The common people being referred to in this discussion would certainly disagree with that policy.

Louis CK trying to tell Joe you're living a small percentage of a lifestyle most people can't afford. It's a harsh truth. It's not that Joe is not in touch with the real world but majority of people just trying to get by. Its not Joes fault, but its just the reality of life majority of us are just getting by.

Sure, cold plunges and special diets and all that stuff that rich influencer bros yap about on podcasts might indeed have benefits. But what Louis is saying that there is some checkpoint of cultural and monetary achievement that, once you hit it, everything after starts giving diminishing returns in actual benefits, and how those things influence your life on a deeper, fundamental level is miniscule. Louis is essentially saying that these discussions are about first world problems -- like arguing over the benefits of having your coffee in a French Press or a Keurig, or having your boxers by 10% or 20% silk. These things may make a difference in our enjoyment of life, but again, there is a massive dropoff in returns in terms of actual rewards, and how they impact our lives. Sometimes we get caught up in these things, and don't take a moment to appreciate just how good we have it.

I think what we are seeing here is that Joe has reached a point where the disconnect is too great to understand what Louis is talking about. Like, sure, that stuff is potentially good for you, but you are basically talking about spa treatments for men. Sure you can compare it to buying shoes, but when buying shoes is a struggle then you know those shoes are necessary, but you've likely gone your entire life without flotation tanks or whatever and so far you've survived without it.

Louis is right on here, and I applaud him for saying it. Most of what Rogan says sounds like the classic highly successful person trying to justify the disproportionate amount of success they have had. No one believes they deserve poverty, but just about everyone believes they deserve as much success as they can squeeze out of the system.

I literally pay $35 per session for Sauna. It isn't crazy at all to do that once a week. Everytime I do it I think "Worth it".

Some people in these comments seem to have a misunderstanding that cold plunging is just about creating discomfort when it is much more than that. Not everybody will feel the benefits but for me it is therapeutic and healing for both your body and mind. It is not for everyone and if you have already made up your mind that it is BS than it will probably not work for you. As for cold plunging being elitist, its cold water. People have been jumping into cold lakes for thousands of years. If you dont have access to one try a cold shower. If you cant afford gas to get to a lake or a couple of bags of ice for the tub that sucks but it doesnt mean cold plunging is some fancy hollywood treatment. Louie is talking about something else. About how in our society we are too focused on being comfortable and happy. As humans we not meant to live that way so we create a lot of our own suffering instead of learning to be at peace with a range of emotions and discomfort.

Louis obviously making most of the salient points here. I think the most extreme example of what he's talking about would be Bryan Johnson. What he's doing is noble, brave, and impossible. However, it's also fundamentally selfish, and he has hundreds of millions of dollars and entire teams of people at his disposal, so most people wouldn't be able to attempt what he's doing either way and its definitely not self-sufficient. The population of some tiny African nation recently broke into a compound owned by it's rich leader and burnt all his imported cars to the ground. People shouldn't starve and work for slave wages, but at the same time, it's not a crime for fancy cars to exist, and not everyone is going to get access to those cars. It's definitely not a black and white issue.

Case in point - we've done that in Britain and you can't get in to see a dentist, it's an ordeal trying to get a doctor's appointment, and the average wait at the emergency room is about twelve hours. An elderly neighbour of mine fell and broke her hip in her garden, and her son from London (4 hours drive) got to her before the ambulance. Sometimes they just don't come. That's happened in just 30 years. THAT'S what happens with open borders. Unless you're rich.
