    2:06 Na dude thats a USB B Connector. So you would have wanted to accurately say that you would need a USB B to A cable. If someone would just search USB A as you just said, then they will get every cable out there that has a USB A end, when they want to search for USB B 2.0 cable snd that will automatically pull up USB B Cables of which all of them have the A on the other end. In regards to USB Generations, you dont refer too the A port as a 2.0, The entire cable is a Gen 2.0 cable. To remove Confusion for People to stop them from buying a USB B 3.0 cable you would point out how the B side Connector isnt just different in size but also the connector is Blue, just like all USB 3.0 cable connector heads are Blue. So you tell people to search for USB B 2.0 cables which are rated at 480mbps. When searching on Amazon many times a Cable is refered to as Ligjting Fast or something, but it lists its speed st a Blazing 480mbps, Well then thats a fancy way of saying USB 2.0. You can also use USB B, To USB C Adapters, and use a USB C cable to conenct to the Brook Board. They sell plenty of nice metal USB B to C Adapters that will allow anyone to use a wider variety of cable since USB C cables are more available. Many of them are just USB 2.0 cables, Hence why they should look out for thr Listed Cable Speed. If a USB C cable is saying it transmits st 480mbps, then thats good to use on this board with an adapter. I hope all of this helps for your next videos

    I actually went through th Long Journey of Arcade Gaming since 2020. I got my MVC1 A1up, then I got hooked and bought my first stick, a couple of years later after becoming a sort of Guru on Buttons and sticks I came to prefer American.(I know I'm weird 😂) So that's when I bought my second Arcade Stick but my first American; that stick being the 15th Anniversary Street Fighter Stick. As an Xbox User I started out using it with a Brook PS2 to Xbox One Adapter and it began to fail like 2 months later. So then I finally bought my first Brook Board and took everything I learned with wiring and using Arcade Parts on Arcade 1up to completely swap the Stock PCB for an Xbox Fighting Board and set up my own Wiring and designed my own Daisy Chain ground. The crazy thing about it all, is that I wired up this stick, and I have ALWAYS HATED Firmware Updates as a Long Time Android User I learned that if something works perfectly, then Firmwares come around simply to destroy the product in the hopes you get a new one. My Philosophy here paid off because my Xbox Fighting Board isn't flagged or Disabled on Series X. NEVER HAD A Prompt to tell me I had an Unauthorized device. So I use it fully on my Series X. Th kicker is that I now have done the same thing to a Mayflash F300, Another Xbox Board and to make a long story short I updated it, and now th Xbox Flags th Mayflash I Everytime I plug it in, but my SF Stick is still safe and flying below th Radar. I really wish there was a way to identify the firmware on my board, and be able to download a previous Version because i bet it wouldn't get flagged by Xbox. Well anyways I have until the 8th to see what happens with th Mayflash, Thnks for th awesome video!

    I remember when Tekken 4 was in the arcades. I could not get past stage 4, but I kept at it until I ran out of money/patience/tokens. One day, I went in and the character in stage 1 started getting 10-hit combos (immediate knockouts). I asked the attendant, but she said the difficulty was set to the same setting it always was. I was sure that was a lie, so I never played it again. They got greedy.

    In January, Coney Island USA had unlimited pinball and video games to get people to buy drinks. I don't drink alcohol, so I wasn't good for much to them other than word of mouth because they did it the next couple of Saturdays. It was so frigid out that I didn't want to leave even though I have tendinosis and herniated discs that make it painful to stand for fvery long. Of course, I did leave when I had to, and it wasn't any warmer. Obviously, it was the off-season, but I live in Brooklyn. The video game units were multigame, one of which had Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., an Mario Bros. in the same unit. I could not believe how hard it was. I had rented Donkey Kong Classics for the NES and done fairly well at it, but I must have used over 30 continues on Donkey Kong (whcih of course, you couldn't do in the original). I was determined to play the pie factory stage, which ended up being a pushover compared to the other rounds, but I'd only ever played it in the Game Boy version, which is easier still. The arcade game was practically impossible. The controls were stiff as hell. It was super-exacting to get on or off a ladder, and the hit detection was terrible, and this is knowing full well that Mario can't fall like he can in other games, inclding Donkey Kong on the Game Boy. I couldn't believe I was having such a hard time with it, although the ladder thing ended up being a dead giveaway that they had messed with the difficulty. A lot of times you'd be one step from being able to get off a ladder, and that could totally screw with your timing. I don't think I ever got directly killed like that, but it was seriously messing with my head.

    • @RudetunasArcade
      @RudetunasArcade 4 дні тому

      Wow. Yeah those older games you had to be pretty precise. Plus the DK pie stage can be challenging. Thank God for free play..lol.

    Most arcade games especially fighting games like Street Fighter had what's called a "Choke" point. They would let you win a 2 or 3 fights to suck you in. Then the machine would go into "Choke" mode and all the rest of the game would get much harder. Most fighting games would "read" your inputs and counter or cancel any moves you tried to pull off. This was of course so they could make more money. You often had to cheat to overcome the input reading of the machine.

    • @RudetunasArcade
      @RudetunasArcade 4 дні тому

      That's true and the sad part was they didn't even try to hide it. If you stood still you blatantly saw the CPU did the same thing waiting read your input and counter. Good point and thank you for sharing.

    Another trick game programmers used which is more subtle is dynamic AI difficulty. The game would start off in easy or normal mode AI, but if the player is doing too well, the game would ramp up difficulty on the fly. NBA Jam was notorious for this. The game would employ this trick even with 2 human players by adjusting the AIs of the computer controlled teammates. And if all 4 players were controlled by humans, the game would use other ways to keep the game close by boosting the abilities of the team that is behind and suppressing those of the team that is leading. NBA Jam was programmed so that the games were always kept close in score which helped to broaden its appeal to novices and expert players. The games were kept competitive which encouraged players to part which more quarters to play every quarter in a match. And it made a ton of money.

    If the games weren't hard to near impossible, then the arcade and the games manufacturers wouldn't have made enough money to continue operating. It disturbs me sometimes thinking back about plopping in a quarter on a new game that might last 30 seconds. And then all of the quarters that followed to get any better at it. In 1980, I was a 14 year old kid working parttime at a movie theatre for just $3.15 an hour. Today, I'll sometimes play some MAME games from those early arcade years (1979-1983), and my wife always asks how much I "spent" that time, as a measure of how many games I played. What's up? Really enjoyed the video and I subscribed. Being an OG arcade gamer, I can definitely give you some further insight on your topic, although you touched on a lot of good points. Here are some other reasons as to why arcade games were so hard... 1. Going through the timeline evolution of arcade games, I can tell you that the first reason that they were so hard was that players had no history of playing video games when they first came out, so as players we all had to develop unique skills to be able to succeed at them. It took players getting really good at Super Mario Bros and other platformers before something crazy difficult like Cuphead would even be conceived of. The games seemed difficult initially, because we had never seen or played anything like them, but as the players got better at them, video game designers figured out how to make them even tougher. 2. The first generation of video games were also a lot less technologically advanced, and thus more simple in design. Therefore, things like health meters didn't exist. You got hit, you died and that was it. Watch someone walk up to a Defender machine for the first time in a retro Barcade and see how long they last. It will probably be less than a minute. First, you have to figure out the wild controls and all of the buttons, and then you have to immediately figure out how to survive. If a new version of Defender were released today, it would have to include easier introductory levels or health bars for your ship (or both), because a lot of today's players would probably be turned off with how quickly they initially got beat. However, the first generation of gamers, didn't have a ton of different options for games. They couldn't just download something onto their smartphones or play something comparable at home, so you HAD to step up to the challenge, figure it out, and then learn all of the skills necessary to survive and succeed. In short, the games were harder, because they didn't seek out ways to make it easier for the player, because they knew the players would eventually figure them out, and because that things that would make them easier like health bars weren't even thought about yet. Side note: Another reason that arcade owners would use tokens, was that all of the cash could be consolidated into the change machines and thus lower level employees could be trusted to clean out the machines of tokens, whereas the top level managers/owners could be the only ones handling the cash from the change machines. 3. The part about games getting impossible to beat in certain areas to force players to put in more money is definitely valid as well. Perfect examples were the side scrolling multiplayer beat-em-ups like The Simpsons, or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In those games, your goal as a player is to try to get through the story as inexpensively as possible, but you know that when certain bosses appear, you're definitely going to take some damage and will probably have to pay more to continue. Players at the time were keenly aware of this, but the developers made the games so fun and compelling that we played them anyway. Thanks for putting together such a great video! I especially liked the side by side comparison of the different difficulty settings on the shooter between easy and very hard. Even though some arcade owners have used some shady tactics, I never blame them for trying to make a living. Having a room full of machines that people can all play for over an hour on 50 cents is clearly a bad business model, so I don't blame them for trying to make things profitable for themselves, but as a player, I wouldn't play games that did "cheap" stuff like you showed Mortal Kombat 2 doing. Keep up the great work, and I'll keep watching! :)

    No one wants to play on easy mode at the arcade. There is no fun in that if you trying to show off. The fact that the games were hard were indeed the challenge that kept you coming back.

    I had arcades I would avoid because they had every machine on the hardest difficulty. The best way I would extend a quarters worth would be on street fighter at a crowded arcade. You keep winning you stay on the machine with quarters stacked on the control panel for whoever got next. Man any cave shmup on very hard is a death wish.

    First time seeing your channel. Personally I never mind a channel not making every video about the same thing. Maybe if it's TOO offtopic and TOO frequently it might hurt the vibe of the channel, but in general, just do your thing I say. I wouldn't do an ARCADE channel and then spend too much time on FOOD or POLITICS or something, but if it's still mostly game related and then still a majority Arcade, I say do it your way. Btw, the thing that made me click was that I saw that Sony TV (I've got the 32" version of that same one that I use for my old Light Gun games) and had forgotten about SuperGun so I checked it out. Got a few CRT tvs. Might look into this at some point.

    What's weird was I wasn't even paying attention to their tv broadcast and guest stars during their second run a few years ago. If they were spending money on expensive California offices, flying in guest stars for interviews, and paying for expensive tv broadcast I certainly didn't notice. I just followed the UA-cam channel and was there for the reviews from the OG Adam Sessler and the their various skits. To this day can't wrap my head around why the fuck they just didn't embrace the online model of like what IGN, Gamespot, Gameranx, and even Smosh Games have done! Even none gaming channels like Corridor Crew have professional grade equipment, talented VFX artist, and get great guests on their channel being solely independent! If G4 was so worried they won't stand out this ways then they were sorely WRONG! There channel became my go to for gaming content during the pandemic. When it all closed down it was sudden and was wondering why!? Apparently it was because I don't pay for cable anymore... WTF!! How do you misunderstand you audience this much!? What they NEED if they really want to bring back G4 is to completely let go of the cable tv model of business and embrace the online aspect so they can stay independent and get the most out of online platforms like UA-cam, twitch and or their own website! If there is enough of a desire to see G4 come back for a third time then it means they did something right! Just don't fuck it up this time.

      I was watching a video online by the channel by the name of "It'saGundam" . In his video he explains something along the lines that a rich dads son was dating Olivia Munn at the time and then his dad funded him to revive G4. IDK if Munn influenced him to do so to get advance her career at the time. Before the channel even launched they broke up and I think he was stuck trying to do something he was not truly interested in and was in over his head. At least that was my understanding of the video. So i think he had no idea how to properly appeal to the audience like you were saying by going the cable and big studio route as opposed to just having a more online and social media approach. Thank you for your broad take on this. I think you nailed it. I would have loved for G4 to still be around.

    I remember enjoying all the small segments they had on the channel back in the day. They could have just done that at the start and be interesting with a little more production than anyone else on youtube. I remember being there at the last 3 months when there were known as tech tv and were more of a radio talk show but on tv or having tournaments and even having interviews with developers and employees also with mini documentary segments I had to grow to like G4 but there was nothing else on that was like them except for maybe the 1up network and that whole side of the net. I think I enjoyed the 1up network more than G4, G4 was just wonky and felt more like you are there to watch personalities than be there for the games like the way Tech TV was.

      @RudetunasArcade 9 днів тому

    20 years ago I got an empty arcade stand up cabinet, it has the CRT but no PCB, I've been thinking to use a LCD or Use my old CRT TV that has SCART input (if it still works). But I want to find something that has a nice user interface first, in the older days it was MAME, then I see Launchbox, but i'm more interesting in the "Turn it on and its working" not a PC booting and clicking on things. I've subbed now and will take some time to watch your previous vids.
