Winters are still complete crap to be honest and last absolutely forever vs TO. You have been here 6 months, you'll see after 10 years lol And spring, summer and fall are much better in TO. I will agree on the dryness though. It's not that cold vs TO when it's like -5. But is it cold in Calgary, YES, absolutely. Much colder than TO overall. (and again, that's because all the seasons are much cooler here)

You need to get a bike trailer for Violet and get on our huge bike trail network! Also, Kananaskis and foothills area like Bragg Creek and Sheep River Park are way cheaper and less developed than Canmore/Banff. You need a permit for these areas as well. Also, the snow is much lighter to shovel cause it's dry. Sometimes I just use a broom. You can drive 1 hour from Calgary in any direction and get a totally different landscape. Hwy 22 north or south is beautiful driving along the foothills. I love Calgary, not missing the humidity in Windsor Ont!!

"That" cold can last a few weeks , it is not months. Just for those from outside. And same time for summer, it can get "That" hot for a few weeks maybe a week where you need/want AC. generally 30+ day after day Watching this at end of August so you guys should do the summer retrospective... I think your pay goes up coming here. I cannot speak to all types of jobs. I work with a recruiter and they said Calgary rates are better than Ontario and BC. Of course theres the boom bust cycle aspect of the Calgary economy and it very much depends on networking.

People here still complain about traffic, have no idea how bad it can be in other Canadian cities. Toronto sunday 4pm in the afternoon, you still need to consider traffic to get anywhere. No issue in Calgary, only need to worry about rush hours. I remember even below a million population, people would complain there is too many people in Calgary... So people who come here, it's nicer, friendlier but you'll still get people who are not happy with the influx. But meh , if youre coming from a bigger city, Calgary will still come out on top for nice people. Yeah the dryness took a day or two initially to get used to it. Dont miss not having the stickiness of humid climate. Welcome to Calgary!

Get winter tires and i prioritize AWD but yeah road clearing is bad. I have been living without a car and in Beltline, but outside the core, you will be heavily inconvenienced. Been kinda surviving with Uber for absolutely needed trips. Downtown is dead. More family oriented, live in suburbs, weekend warrior.

We say thank you and greet bus driver, i took that for granted until a tourist mentioned how shocked they were.

I moved to from east, its definitely way friendlier, a bit slow at times. The rock chips are so frustrating.

Let's see now. They've blown their wad on a hockey rink so they can't afford a water main break. They over built the downtown core with office buildings. Under every train underpass there are the homeless with their shopping carts and pop bottles. Urban sprawl galore. Music venues continue to close (Mikeys and the Blues Can upcoming). There is a massive blue ring to exemplify the city's poor taste in art. Mounds of rain weathered sneakers litter to front of city hall supposedly recognizing a past injustice. Stampede music halls require hearing protection. Summer wildfire smoke is becoming the norm. Vagrants squat in public transit. West side downtown is shear emptiness. Rental accommodation is expensive and in short supply. Sure - there are pros when making relative comparisons.

I don't agree with your assessment of entertainment and nightlife. On any given day, there are tons of things happening around the city, with various festivals and live music throughout the year. You just need to know where to look.

Just watched this. Great video. However, Calgary does use salt from 0 to -10, and a sanding chip mixture for colder weather.
