David Lynch-inspired Sound Design
I created this soundscape to demonstrate how simple atmos can be used to help create tone and narrative by using simple home recordings with standard Avid Pro Tools processing FX.
David Lynch's sound designer Alan Splet famously used wind recordings in a similar way:

The raw recordings used are:
living room tone
wind from the fire place/chimney
baby's white noise machine
striking a match
zipping up a coat
vocal breaths and sighs
The effects used to manipulate the audio are:
EQ
Warping (varispeed)
pitch shift
harmonic distortion
reverb
delay
reverse

My piano cover of what is arguably the most beautiful piece of music ever written for piano. I learned this by ear and altered the last section slightly from the original.

This piece was composed to evoke an image of a corn field bathed in moonlight, ending with the approaching dawn. I wanted to experiment with borrowed chords and with combining the textures of string and wind instruments.

Karima--this is incredible!! I've been listening to all of the entries out of curiosity as well as a learning experience for myself, and this is honestly the first that I re-listened to (about 30 in). The change up at 1:04 is so interesting, and the distant vocals indeed are a hit! I'm in love with what you did at 1:24 with the woodwinds and the percussion!! The ending is perfect. Well done!!!!!

This was lovely. I really enjoyed how you started with your minimal flute melody and how it evolved into the vocal /instr sustains, gently growing with extra vocal layerings etc. the single voice element adds a nice touch. Your flute use is nice and lyrical. All the best with your entry.
