How to Make Super Easy Yarn Tassels
In “How to make Super Easy Yarn Tassels” I show a technique that is useful for both knit and crochet projects! They are SUPER EASY because you will learn how to make and secure each tassel to the edge of a project all at the same time. Unlike the traditional tassel, there are no extra yarn tails to weave in later! Plus, I will share a few extra timesaving tips to make the process even faster!
This tasseling technique is best suited for edging projects that require many tassels such as on blankets or throws, the ends of a shawl, the bottom of a sweater, or in this case, my Poinsettia Christmas Tree Skirt!
Here's the link to the Poinsettia Christmas Tree Skirt playlist: studio.ua-cam.com/users/playlistPL8hkSHdl_vx4xGDSYQssp6T48cGt1vKLY/

Thank you for these instructions. You are wonderful!
You're welcome! It's a fun edging to use.
Love it... Thank you...
You're welcome! It's one of my favorites too!
Nice tutorial, but it would have been much easier to follow if the camera had been zoomed in more.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll try to zoom in more for future tutorials.
Thank you!! Very helpful tutorial!! 😊
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Very clear instructions. Thanks!
You're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful.
How much yarn do you use?
It was about 3 Oz or each color. I'm away from my computer so I can't pull up the pattern right now.
@ oh thanks!!
Hello do you know how to fix loose wide sides on a tank top?
I would need to see the top to provide feedback. If you want to send a picture via email my email is mary@twistedyarns.com.
In your written pattern you said multiple of 19+19, but in your video said multiple of 19+18 which one is ok
19 plus 19. I later discovered this error. And updated the pattern.
I used a magic ring and it worked well. Thank you …. I will use this often ❤
Sorry to fast sending me dizzy at corners
Sorry to hear that. Would it help to record a slowed version with extra attention to the corners?
Does this work the same way in the round? Thank you for this video!! 😊
That depends on how you define "in the round". It works if the base row is a foundation of chains and then slip stitched together to form a large ring such as to form the circumference of a sweater or sleeve, cowl etc. If you are starting with a ring to work a motif like a granny square, this will not work.
Great tutorial. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
So hard to understand
Circles can be complex. I'm interested in knowing what was difficult to understand? Did you have a particular question? Let me know! Thanks.
Way too hard to follow.
What did you find confusing?
What a beautiful hat! I am thinking about learning machine knitting. Your creations really inspire me. Thanks!
I hope you convert over to machine knitting! Let me know if you do and perhaps I can guide you in your adventure!
Love this! How many stitches need to be in foundation / sides for the mushroom border to match up with the base piece?
This is a multiple of 6 plus 1. It is covered in the video along with other pointers to turn the corners. I appears at about 1 minute and 45 seconds on this video also.
Lovely! What's the math on the foundation row or number of stitches for the base piece so that the mushrooms line up?
That foundation should be a multiple of 6 plus 1. That info is covered at about 1minute and 45 seconds in the video under foundtation pointers.
I’m so confused about you saying for row 3 just do a single all the way around but for row 4 put 2 over the stitch marker. Because we also put two single right before row 3. So are you saying put 2 single crochet over the gussel in row 4? (I’m on first row of blue)
One marker is at the beginning of the row and one under the gusset. On row 3, by working 1 sc in each stitch there are no increases. But on Row 4, you are placing an increase over the marker that is a few rows below. This is where the gusset will be developed as you proceed on.
So, we only have to 'turn' the first two rounds?
You need to turn every round.
Is there a way to create something similar at the end of the knitted piece?
I'm working on figuring that out and will have another video soon!
I need this for those babies 😊! Thank you
Plus, they are so much fun to make!
@TwistedYarns easy peasy and adorable 😍
Hello, what size is the socket screwdriver you use to remove the needle beds? Thx, Paolo
I believe it is a 5.5mm box spanner. A box spanner is different from a socket. It is narrow all the way down to the end and fits thru certain parts of the Passap to reach the nuts. You can get this tool from Michael Becker at Distinctive Knits. You may also be interested in his book "Be Your Own Passap Paramedic" It is excellent. Also if you are working on a Passap Pinkie or DM-80 (green), the tool may be a slightly different size but the principle is the same.
Thanks! I don't know why such useful videos haven't shown up before when I searched for info on my new old bulky knitter!
I'm glad you found it helpful! I love to share my techniques and patterns for the benefit of others.
What size hook…that so pretty
H hook for worsted weight or 4 ply cotton
I loved this tutorial but I so wish you had done two more rounds to show more of the places to turn. Also how to connect to the color change as you complete the round. Do you have written patterns or a more extensive tutorial?
The written pattern can be found at this link: twistedyarns.com/patterns/moss-stitch-rectangle/
Here's the link to another video I did on changing colors in the corner. Perhaps this will shed more light on the subject: ua-cam.com/video/NGdEZEskVeE/v-deo.htmlsi=dXZPHBj6c3HMvkgP
Thank you for this tutorial, I have never heard anyone speak so clearly, you must have a good brain, I would be stuttering, and be putting a lot of umms and ars in it.
Editing helps a lot! But don't tell anyone!
Thank you very much for the tutorial, l must say how clear you speak, makes it easier to understand.
You are welcome!
What a life saver! Thank you so much!

Thank you for the quality voice over with the clear visual instructions! The 'easy' no roll edging is something
You're welcome! Glad you found the edging easy!
You have stopped my heart.
I developed this technique over 50 years ago when I was restoring an antique afghan. I'm just thankful that UA-cam allows me to share my thoughts, techniques and patterns to help others. Besides I hate frogging and see real accomplishment go down the drain!
Great video, thank you! Bought the pattern and can't wait to try it. Where can I get a steamer like that?
That's a Conair steamer. Just picked that one up at a resale shop. There are many steamers on the market that work just fine and you don't need to spend a fortune.
@@TwistedYarns Thanks!
Love this! Where can I buy one of these garter plates? Having trouble finding them online. Are they called something else?
I call these stopper plates but the formal name is needle stoppers. I purchased mine 9mm and 6.5mm ones from Kriskrafter.com. For the standard bed (4.5 mm), they come as part of the garter bar set. These can be found on ebay also. Thanks for watching!

Is there anything to be done to avoid the holes between the rib and stockinet?
This version of the mock rib reduces the holes. If you do a classic mock rib, its faster but the holes are even more pronounced.
Do you have a beginner machine knitted sweater pattern with UA-cam video for sale..?

I've been working on one but I did not know if there was any interest! Soon!
@TwistedYarns is it possible for a beginner machine knitter to use your patterns on a standard gauge machine?
This pattern could be converted to use on a standard gauge machine. How to do this is more a matter of calculating the gauge. Let me see what I can come up with to make the conversion easier. I also have a video on tension and swatching that may be of interest to you call How to Machine Knit Tension and Gauge Swatches. Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/AfgY2Bsq498/v-deo.html

What size needle plate do I order for the needle plate?
The Lk needs a 6.5mm plate.
How do I determine what size garter stitch bar to order for the LK150 knitting machine?
It's based on the machine. The LK is a 6.5 mm machine.
