I think the requirements for techno are not as strict as purists want. They like to feel special and insider. Usually you have a heavy kick on each beat. Your tempo is between about 125-140, although some good rave/warehouse style can push a little faster. It sometimes has a darker or foreboding atmosphere. For longer pieces, you can throw in the obligatory spoken break from a random science fiction movie. Lastly, you need giant robot farts, you know them when you hear them.
