#138 {June 2024} Flooring install AGAIN!
After having new flooring installed throughout our entire house in June 2022, we've ended up back in the same place. Turns out it was not installed properly the first time. What a hassle! We ended up getting an Airbnb for the week. This month was also Father's Day and we had a fun visit with our cousins from Utah!

We spent a good portion of the month recovering from Covid (our first time getting it). Towards the end of the month we did enjoy a trip to Disneyland, though. We have Magic Keys again so hope to be going many more times this years! Oh, I also went from blonde to brunette (reddish)...we'll see how long it says like that though (hint: not long lol).

Come with us while we survive whale watching on choppy seas, meandering around the Aloha Stadium swap meet, and Chuck E. Cheese. Our trip was cut short due to illness, but it was still fun while it lasted. *I want to make it clear that we flew under the advice of a doctor. All 5 of us were masked at all times.

My 85 year old mother, who was on Macrobid from her GPfor a UTI, died from a blood pressure drop from a complicated UTI/pylonephritis after the hospital Dr said her bloods were clear and she was just dehydrated, this was after being sick and collapsing at home,he put her on a drip and sent us home. She collapsed in exactly the same way the next evening, this time her poor heart couldnt keep going and she died holding my hand. They didn't take a urine sample off of her at the hospital or take her blood pressure standing up before discharge This is in London UK. Heartbroken

Absolutely file a lawsuit. As a healthcare professional for 20 years this is negligence and he’s VERY lucky to still be alive. I was just discharged from the hospital with an infected kidney stone and sepsis myself over the weekend. There is NO excuse for this at all. None. Call an attorney.

Oh WoW.. So sorry. Myself (mailman), back in 2021 got in from work, at my kitchen sink and had a horrible stabbing pain in my stomach. I could barely walk 8 feet to grab my ph & call the neighbor. ER said my gallbladder was full of stones. Surgery that evening and would go home the next morning - - - They kept me 3 DAYS constantly on antibiotic drip & saline, would not say why.. only "We want to make sure you PERFECT to go home".. finally sent me home telling me to take 2x500mg walmart tylenol 3 to 4x a day for a few days, THEN the doc gave me a script for Norco- I asked why, he only said "JUST in case you need it"... 3 weeks later my stomach SWOLE UP like I was pregnant, HURT SO BAD (Bless You Women). Every cup of water I drank, I THREW IT UP. I bought some of that liquid stuff that makes you go to the bathroom.. I'd Throw it up 60 seconds after I drank it.. I live 20 min from town, I stopped at EVERY doctors office I passed on the way to the ER.. No one would take me, told me I was Green, Go to the ER. After 10+ different Xrays, MIRS, Scans.. one that was over an hour under this HUGE metal disc.. they said I had Sepsis + Septic Shock. Small/Large intestines & floor muscles shut down, my stomach had no where to let out. Intestines muscles & pancrease was inflamed, they was scared my liver & pancrease would shut down. 9 doctors, 2 to 3 of them coming in every 4 hours, PLUS blood work every 4 hours. For 4 days they could not get my heart rate below 144. The plan was NO liquids nor food to give the gut a rest. At that 4 day mark since nothing got better they was going to move me to a higher ICU floor with the nurse right there watching me as they gave me a heart med drip & they was going to put a tube straight to my intestines to give it something hoping to start it up... THANKFULLY.. that night B4 I was moved the nurse heard my stomach gurgling, by morning heart rate went down, liver & pancrease count SLOWLY went down. After 7 days they let me out. One nurse finally told me my galbladder fell apart inside me as they was removing it and the surgeon didn't clean up good. -- 2+ yrs later I got on BP& heart meds, both increased OVER and OVER. Now on 2 a day heart pill Cored & the dark dark red BP med. I go to the bathroom like twice a week. several other issues like you stated. Everyone I talked to that had septic shock says problems keep coming up forever.

Regarding kidney stone, they can use a laser just to break up the stone into smaller pieces so it can pass on itself own. I wonder if that would have still posed too much risk for his bleeding disorder. Just a thought.

You both should get some therapy for the aftermath of this terrible experience. It might help some of this fear you both have. Your doctors should have already suggested this. On another note you are right, with his blood pressure sinking like it did, you could have lost him. It's wonderful you are putting this out so everyone can learn from it.

I am studying to become an EN. Regardless if missed sleep/dehydration from the pain/discomfort caused by the Kidney stone alongside the recurrent symptoms of nausea/vomiting was contributing to your BP drop? Rule of thumb is--- If pain/symptoms of such nature are still present and your BP on the next set of obs were only slightly higher?? I would have advised and requested more imagining tests/lab blood work etc alongside pain relief. Temperature checks are also included in the 15 min/half hourly/hourly obs. Such is a big indicator of the chances of an infection being present or escalating. I would not have stated discharging Russ if he was reporting dizziness and such.. Not at all! -_-, Blood cultures should have been done straight away. >.< I am very very very shocked that the staff at the hospital did not advise you both on should symptoms progress for the worse? You come back stat. >.< The presence of a kidney stone in itself is obviously not at all a pleasant nor good thing. Kidney stones lead to Kidney infections. The longer said stones stay embedded? The higher the risk for infection, blockage, rupture of the ureters etc. Some stones can pass on their own sure.. but it is a very painful experience (worse than childbirth.. or so I am told.. Which I believe!) Bigger stones need to be removed via various procedures. The hospital systems are so under pressure everywhere (I am in Australia.) and when systems go down? Absolute chaos! >.< It makes me very very very angry that Nurses and Doctors do not proceed to check vitals! They are called "Vitals" for a damn reason. (Vital information that can be indicative of someone's condition. -_-,) I am so so so sorry Briana that you and Russ were subjected to such reactions from the nurses. Bless you both and your family. Sending you love and strength moving forward. 💖

Thanks for this I am here looking to listen to people who have been through what I've just been through myself. Ambulance did not arrive for 8 hours and when they arrived I was treated with both neglect and even contempt while one of the paramedics sat there denying my experience it was horrible. I was in agony. The hospital were quick testing my blood and urine and got me on IV antibiotocs in minutes but too much time had already passed. A ct scan showed I had a huge kidney stone between kidney and blader (they have to operate on soon) they operated to fit a stent so I could urinate, relieving the pain I slept but the next day my stats dropped my BP went very low then I had a heart attack. I was wired up to the hilt and my BP took quite some time to recover. I could myself lucky a heart attack has so far been the worst it has hit me with but my days am I scared right now about the upcoming op. I have the most dreadful feeling that the operation I will be having in around 10 weeks from now will land in another bout of septic shock. With the statistics the way they are with this terrible illness it's reassuring to hear survivors talk about this so thank you once again. I wish you both a long healthy life.

Be careful! I have had sepsis from kidney infections/stones 4 times now. Now that you've survived it once, it could happen again especially with that size stone because you will have scaring from the stone itself, the infection and the surgery you'll inevitably need. That scaring is where bacteria like to hide and breed. Assert your concerns and demand to be checked for sepsis whenever you feel similarly again. It is like a mind game for the rest of your life because, yes I've been hospitalized with it 4 times, but I've been sure I had the symptoms so many more times....like he said, you start to feel like you can't trust your own body anymore. So glad you made it out of the ICU!

God bless you & your family. I am on disability and can’t do half of what i used to. It’s so frustrating, but i have to be grateful because there are people a lot worse off. You guys hang in there. This will make your love stronger. God bless you Russ. My dad has had it 3 times from huge kidney stones which they can’t remove because everytime they have messed w his stones (which are in his kidneys the size of golf balls) but everytime they have messed w them at all, he has gone septic in the hospital for weeks. So keep my dad in your prayers and i will keep y’all in my prayers. My parents celebrated their 53rd anniversary last June. it’s gonna be 54th this June, God willing. I wish you both all the best life has to offer & try not to be scared. I know my mom stays scared, but she’s been w this man 53-54 years. She also told me she has to give her worries to God like the Bible tells us. I know it’s easier said then done, but God bless you guys & I hope you will make it to you 65th anniversary or more!!! 🙏 🙏❤️
