    I have a brand new panel, I damaged one cell. Is it possible for me to replace just this one cell and have the panel working again?

    • @jarshans
      @jarshans 2 роки тому

      I don't think its as simple as that because you can end up damaging more cells. Unless you manage to bypass that bad cell by gently scraping to expose the tabbing wires... maybe but that's also hectic in my opinion. my videos are usually on degraded or defective panels and cells that still have a tempered glass that intact. If you ae dealing with a brand new one I would see if its covered by warranty. Reach out to the manufacturer and see what they say...

    They say we have a problem with solar waste? We have a problem with lazy and wasteful people. I love your idea because I have a box of 500 raw cells in need to make into panels. Guess I'll be visiting the local landfill more frequently, lol. I bought 25 230W used panels of the secondary market and have tested two with my MPPT outback system. They are still outputting 90%+ of nominal rating and one has a film of sea salt on it. I'm just going to use Isopropyl alcohol for cleaning and elastomeric roof coating to reseal the back. Of course I'll be putting new connectors on, cleaning the glass, and testing them all. The ones I bought are from a large project in GA and were replaced under warranty due to the bad coating on the back. I got them for $60 each shipped. I also bought a combined charge controller/inverter 230VAC single phase grid tied unit and am building my own power wall from salvaged cells and new ones from military surplus. I won't grid tie but it is designed for wind and hydro inputs as well and I'm build a gravity battery as well using a 25KW alternator from harbor freight. I will have my own little island grid on the homestead when I'm done. Peak load for us is winter and 25KW is enough.

    • @jarshans
