    Hi. How do you remove the ambient temp gauge that is between the 2 vents? Thx.

    What is holding the center rubber piece on for the vent system and what is in the small hole on that same rubber piece?

      It is sad that I made this video to help people and occasionally people like you come along with nothing better to do than offer insults. You put up petty and hurtful comments, maybe to make yourself feel better, maybe to try to put me down, but it doesn’t nothing positive for anyone. If you truly wanted to make a useful comment, you could add a suggestion of more information that you’d like, or a link to a different way to disseminate or display this Information. I made this video because when I did this job, I couldn’t find any good information. I’ve received many many messages thanking me. Your comment says much more about you than it does about me or this video.

      @@martinisaac9448 i apologize. It was a mistake. I didn’t mean the question mark but an emoji with a smile. I’m really tgat bad with my phone. I deeply appreciate your video and the fact that you really seem to know what you are doing. There are way too many videos out there with nothing. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Please accept my apologies and please keep teaching us how to work on our Merc.

    I am a bit confused as to what purpose this excersise was done and I would have loved to se the job being reversed. I.e. to see how you refitted those hundreds of cables without notes or photos. This is obviously something you do on a regular basis, or you are a memory artist.

      This was the second time I removed the dash on this car... the reason I made it was to be able to reassemble it and see where all those hoses and wires were connected. I wrote notes and labeled all the little parts baggies I used Hope it helps

    Did you do a video putting it back together? I've worked on my personal R107SLs but don't have the courage to attempt this. Did I understand correctly that you got that console out in an hour???

    • @martinisaac9448
      @martinisaac9448 7 років тому

      Never made a reverse video. Just paused this one a lot while I was reassembling. When I made this vid, I had already disassembled the dash once, so I had all the tools and supplies together which made it go a lot quicker.

    Great job. I have to do the same on my 560 SL. Air isn't flowing properly through the vents due to worn out vacuum pump. The pink one you see. There are 5 of them. Thank you for this video. I need to check the vacuum hoses too. This is my coming work for this winter ! Haha

    engineered like no other.... cool console conversion too... bet was alot harder than it looked just to get a fucking cupholder in a car that was dead set against it according to the mb mindset in the 80"s.. did i u replace the evap... they rarely leaked in those cars they seemed to be extra tough ive only replaced one and it took me 3 days lol

    can't tell you how much i loved this video...even just for the music. I already did all of what you showed (unfortunately, lord could I have used this vid then !!!!) anyway I was hoping to somehow zoom in on the GDamned glove box switch. Somehow in the multiple times I've had that glove box in and out (me and the driver seat are dating now we've been out so much....) I lost the switch for the glove box...or hell maybe it never had one. I never noticed before I started forking with the car that the glove light was on all the time so I figured it was my bad. Bought a switch, but I am damned if I can figure out how to wire it with the light AFTER the power source but before the switch....I'm almost certain that is how it was wired before. IF as stated there ever was a before. Help a girl out and I am in your debt...pretty pretty pleaaaase!!!

    I'm a Tech at a shop in Saginaw, Mi. and i have a 84 380S and a 77 450SL both here belonging to the same customer. I'm working on the Air Conditioning on both. Your video just helped me out alot! Thanks for taking the time to post it! BTW.. I'm sure you would like the 84, it only has 40k miles on it and it's super clean

    Martin, that is impressive. I don't think I have the guts to do this to my SL. Sheesh, did you get it all put back together? Surely you missed something on your reassembly? Did you have a box full of nuts, bolts, and clips left over?

    That center console with storage is custom made or what is it?I never see something like that!!!!!

    • @martinisaac9448
      @martinisaac9448 9 років тому

      Giulia The Gymnast That was a custom job i did... can't stand not having a cup holder, so i cut up an old console from an M class and fiberglassed it togetyher with my original... it was a huge nightmare trying to get it to fit and line up, but it's made a great addition, and given me a great place to hide the wiring that goes to the rear speaker system and amps :)

    Dude! That truly awesome. I have an '82 380 SL with a bad evaportator (I'm pretty sure that's why my A/C isn't working - I'm going to make real sure after seeing this). This could really help if I ever decide to tackle that job. Looks like this isn't the first time you've done this. Very nice.

    You stopped when you got to the evaporator. What's the reason for you taking the dash apart? Are you having a vacuum leak?
