Picture at 21:14 flipped east to west ?!?!
Or rather south to north
@@PyramusRay I had wondered the same, then I thought it might have been simply taken from a later angle than the "usual" photos. Great spot!
@@PyramusRay I think you are correct ... the steps up to the bridge are definitely on the wrong side, the photo had been flipped and I hadn't realised
i dont mind canned goods to be left but perishables dont make any sense to leave behind
Absolutely stunning!
Brilliant tim
It’s such a long walk there and back 😅
Use me as a “we invited our 126th subscriber to paddle with us” I’m in love with this view and this calmness 🫠🫠
And yet my thumb still hurts from when I fell in the water when we finally finished 😂😂😂
I hope we are able to make a lot of SUBs and have a lot of likes for all of your videos
Only a few drops of water, you’ll be fine😂

Let’s go George !!! That looks so fun
That is fun to do
You’re the best bro!
@a4adventure i love your videos and I can’t believe you’ve reached 100 subscribers!! Good luck on your journey

This might be nice with just the sound of water. nice images, though.
Hi, thank you for your feedback (it is a really good point). I think my balance of voice / noise / music gets better in more recent videos but I still have a lot to learn 😁
Para mí intachable

Merry Christmas my dear friend. keep update and see you
How much of the Usk can be paddled? I heard conflicting things with some people saying you are not allowed to paddle it from Crickhowell onwards some saying there are only small parts of it that can be paddled
There are, unfortunately conflicting views upon that 🙁 in short, if you can get on / off at places of public access then paddle wherever and whenever there is enough water. The longer answer is: the Wye and Usk Foundation have negotiated access points and dictated the paddleable sections and dates onto paddlers. Good luck
@@a4adventurewales thanks, I’m pretty new to canoeing and still learning I don’t live far from the Usk (Abergavenny) I’ve done a couple of multi day trips down the Wye but fancy something a bit more challenging.
well done George x Hats
What was the song?
Hi, I'm really not sure ... it was a random file from somewhere ... sorry
I don't usually watch family adventures but this was fun. Good going. Mark
That is really decent of you to say, thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it; I'm afraid my videos are generally mediocre at best
@@a4adventurewales A pleasure there. It so reminded me of my own childhood and father. He was fun to. No worries about medocre - that's part of my life to. Peace.
Nice soundtrack! I was glad to get out at the end.😅
lovely vid mate, do u know what a good level for the river is?
Hi, thank you. Levels depend on the section really. If you mean Aberbran to Brecon specifically then 0.70m to 0.90m on the Brecon gauge is a nice level
you are so lucky to be a caver.
Nice one!😉
so 11 deaths are not enough to stop people from bringing....kids in??
Can relate, as sometimes it is the idea for a video or story photo album that provides the motivation necessary to get myself out the door. Thanks George!

top .farewell. Tim! 👽
Nice! Enjoy your adventures.👍
Do you know at what level the river was when you filmed this please.
I believe it was 0.88m at Llandetty
Nice work Tim, looked a little boney. Your film making career is going well.👍
Mediocre at best Alan, but nice to be able to look back on these little adventures
@@a4adventurewales yes it is. Still hoping to see you soon after Christmas.
Looks like you had a cracking time at the Bikepark!! What a place to spend your birthday 👍👍
Thanks bud, and the best thing was ... it wasn't even my birthday, but I still got to ride!
Great snatched shot!
Do you need to request permission to sail on Keepers Pond? Looking for calm places to practice my paddling?
Hi Matt, nope ... outside Lockdown of course ... you just pitch up and paddle there! It's great to hear of people actively practising; I provide canoe coaching on open water and on moving water, let me know if I can help at all
@@a4adventurewales That's great thank you Tim. I'm doing a challenge next year. Canoeing 100 miles from Glasbury to Chepstow as a tribute to my son who sadly passed away last year. I'm getting coaching but obviously would like somewhere to practice what I'm taught. Glad to know that you can paddle here and it's fairly local for me as I live in Newport.
@@mattt3853 I'm really sorry to hear about your son Matt, but the 100 miles will be a really enjoyable, and challenging, tribute to him.
That's what I thought too. I'll keep you updated. Hoping for a better year with the paddling keeping me motivated and focused.
This is one of the few vids I can find on YT for a trip on the Usk. I'm familiar with the Wye but have heard that the Usk is a beautiful river too. Is Brecon to Talybont a relatively straight forward trip? Lots of nice little riffles I see. I guess the levels would be up in Dec?
Hi Andy, the Brecon to Talybont section is straightforward with only one real rapid to negotiate. I use the Llandetty Guage and 70cm is the lowest this section will canoe at. If you're used to slightly bigger drops then the Talybont to Llangynidr section with Gd 3 Mill Falls is definitely worth looking at
@@a4adventurewales Thanks very much for your speedy reply Tim. I'm reading some info off the web & it's telling me that this section is only paddleable in winter? is that right? Also, if you wouldn't mind where was the put in spot in Brecon, many thanks.
@@MrAndyballard there is an access agreement on the river usk ... but they forgot to get paddlers to agree to it. It is best in winter though as it needs to be at least 70cm on the llandetty guage if not higher. The put in at brecon is really straight forward at the Promenade car park
I have been there it was fun
Excellent video.
Take care
Well done Explorer George!!!! Such a brave man!!!!!
Thanks Steve, G can really struggle with new places / things and making 'Explorer George' videos enables him to much more easily take ownership and control of the situation.
Cracking video that😉👍🏻
Great film, really enjoyed it, especially the humour....😉😄
Fabulous....
Great trip, fantastic scenery.
The snow on the trees is so beautiful! What kind of gear do you have to wear to canoe in winter?
Hi Laura, we were so lucky with the beauty of the first day that it made up for the shorter trip! It was stunning. As a general rule you dress for the temperature rather than the season so, even though I had no intention of falling in, I wore a fleece undersuit and a Palm Torrent drysuit over the top while paddling. Although it was very unlikely I would get wet the consequences of it happening would either be bad for my health or would have ended the trip early. On another day I might have just worn dry trousers and a separate jacket (with fleece underneath again ... I have experimented with wearing synthetic garments under drysuit but it was just too sweaty and ended up being colder in the long run!)
Thanks for responding! That’s good to know 😊
I bet was cold !
Looks like a lot of fun.Neat pool.
