Join us as we celebrate a monumental achievement in Rhode Island! Governor Dan McKee, alongside the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources, RIDOT, RIDEM, RI Division of the Federal Highway Administration, and the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation, marks Rhode Island's distinction as the first state to complete Phase 1 of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program.
In this video, we capture the ribbon-cutting event at the Route 117 Park & Ride in Warwick, where the installation of four new Level 3 Direct Current Fast Chargers (DCFC) along Interstate 95 has been completed. This project, featuring ChargePoint Express Plus Power Link PL2000 series chargers, signifies a significant step towards a greener and more sustainable future. These chargers, installed by Maverick Corporation, can power up an electric vehicle to 80% in just 20 to 40 minutes, making EV travel more accessible and convenient for both Rhode Islanders and visitors.
Currently, Rhode Island boasts eight DCFCs and six Dual-Port Level 2 charging stations along the Alternative Fuel Corridor on I-95. This expansion supports the state’s Act on Climate goals, showcasing a collaborative effort between public and private partners.
