    I don't get perforated leather seats. They are a nightmare to clean, especially if one is to have children smearing chocolate and puking all over... just as bad as fabric seats. There are few good seat options in EVs it seems, and as an effect I feel steered towards getting an ICE car with proper seat materials instead.

      Build quality is better than the Kona, Drive is better than the Corolla Cross because of the 7 speed DCT, but Corolla Cross wins for economy by far. I drove more than 1000km on its 43 litre tank.

    I had watched a ton of reviews before I discovered this newly posted review. The mood was a little sombre and hilarious at different times. It seemed as you had high expectations of the car and perhaps the experience was not the most exciting. Hilarious because of the OBU no doubt - #LTA what a joy killer. I have had the car for 2 weeks and it took a while to figure out all the quirky bits - brakes, OBU, etc. It can be boring for a normal morning drive to work because it's just so effortless and silent but if you put it on some twisty roads or hit a clear section of road, just enjoy the smooth and delicious power.

    In electric cars with rear-wheel drive, the rear brakes are rarely used. This is due to regeneration via the engine. Disc brakes that are rarely used rust faster than drum brakes, which is why Audi uses them. Drum brakes are also cheaper to maintain. And it must have also played a role that Audi was able to save costs with this.

      I found the physical brake feel rather spongy, but when used in B mode or Dynamic mode the regenerative braking is almost instant, almost like one-pedal driving down to 5km/h then brakes are required. My suspicion is that the car is designed more for the regeneration which reinforces the argument for advanced drum brakes.

      Hey man. Yes and no. It has a top view 360, but it’s not a 3D 360. Personally I like the top view 360 better as it’s easier to use as a parking aid.

    Hey man - how was your experience with the auto start/stop, and what are your thoughts on the x2 compared to other brands in the range? (Q3 sport back/Q4/GLA/GLB/Tiguan)?

      Oooh. NGL the auto start stop was a little bit rough. But a good workaround is to just put the car in sports mode. I haven’t tested everything in the segment, but at least in Singapore, I think the X1/X2 seems to be a much more well rounded product than its segment mates.

    I respectfully disagree that the infotainment system on the x1, x2 and ix1 is better than the rest. There is so much real estate wasted on the driver’s side and the screen is visibly cramped, as compared to bigger boys. It is running on OS9 and not OS8.5

      Hey Terence. My mistake regarding OS8.5 over 9. Thank you for flagging this out. As for the preference on the housing unit for the integrated displays. I primarily dislike the sharp edge found on the larger models. When viewed from the passenger door, it looks like a retrofitted screen. The housing unit on the smaller models somehow look more “OEM” and more premium to me.

    Background noise rather spoiled this review but the presenter covered the main user items except for showing the engine. MPVs are rare in Europe at present because the market is obsessed with SUVs to the point of saturation. It would have been useful to see a demonstration of getting in and out so viewers could assess height off the ground. This is very important for elderly people and small children and perhaps someone could answer this point. As a vehicle for people with disabilities, this would be a best seller since VW Group cancelled the Skoda Yeti and Nissan's Note appeared at the time when that company had long sacrificed its former reputation for reliability. I am a person with disabilities, in my 70s and I sometimes need to use a folding wheelchair. I run a Toyota Yaris Verso 2004 TC automatic petrol car and a hybrid version would be marvelous. Given that average lifespan in Ireland (where I live) and my native UK for my demographic is mid to late 80s and that we are still family relevant because grandchildren are just younger versions of our children, the old idea of a "family car" has stretched somewhat. Indeed, grandparents are mainstays of the school run and someone's Big Shop of the week even if we only had 2 or 3 children. Manufacturers need to know this and at least Toyota seems to have done its homework. Although the chances of my ever being in Singapore are zero, I have subscribed because this reviewer makes sense.

    Too heavy and much less efficient than a model 3. Model 3 3.7 miles/kwh. Seal 3.1 miles/kwh. It cannot compete with Tesla. BYD needs to lift their game.

      Not saying which is a better car - but each car has their strengths. I am of the opinion that the Seal is more comfortable and offers much better handling dynamics. But you are right, energy efficiency seems to be the Tesla’s strength. On the note of BYD needing to lift their game, I would suggest taking a look at BYD’s development at a global level rather than judging it off one car. If you look at the product range in the pipeline, I don’t think BYD would agree that it needs to catch up. This is said in contrast to Tesla’s somewhat tired lineup.

      If you’re installing it out of the box and without wiring it to the main battery then yes - you need the 12v socket to power it. But if you install properly at the installer then they will wire it to the car battery directly. In which case you won’t need the 12v socket

      Same engine and same chassis. They feel almost identical to drive. But the X1 is definitely the more complete package overall.

    The lack of a center console along with sliding side doors makes it handy when another incompetent/inconsiderate driver parks too close in the next lot so that the driver-side door cannot be opened wide enough to get in. Pity you didn’t demonstrate *how* the 3rd row seats fold down and tuck away neatly rather than having done it beforehand.

      In Singapore it comes installed. In other countries I’ve heard it is an option / aftermarket add on.

      @@roadpilgrim My COE has been approved for the 2024 Atto3 but not the Carbon Edge Trim. Confirmed No Frunk. Dealer said the Frunk is installed as accessories together with the Black top, side mirrors, darkened signage, rear triangular side window scale design and internal black seating seats. And is installed locally in Singapore.

      @@chanching6235 It’s definitely enough to do lane changing and merging in Singapore road context. If you looking for a fast car, then IX1 is not suitable.

    Is the i5 footwell shallower as compared to ice 5. As that is the case for i4 to ice 4 version.

      There are no official dimensions that reflect the depth of the footwell - but yes, I believe that it is a smidge shallower.

      Haha. Putting me in a tough spot here. If I’m buying the car to keep up with the times and as a status symbol, I’d pick the G60. If I’m buying the car as a driver’s car - LCI G30 probably.
