"How to" with Meguiar's restoration kit - Is it worth it?
We want to point out that we are not sponsored by any products mentioned in this video!
Another update with Josh's '03 WRX. Wanted to give Meguiar's a shot as the headlights were becoming very dull. Instead of jumping ahead and buying new headlights, thought it would at least be worth a short spending ~$35 (USD) at my local O'Reilly's. Given, it could be cheaper to source the products without having their name attached to it. But it's an all-in-one kit. So why not?
Also, I'm serious about the camera recommendations. Let me know in the comments below!

Obnoxious Miata (POV)vs. Filthiest Miata

Point of view from the Obnoxious Miata doing highway pulls with the Filthiest Miata. Both are naturally aspirated. Full car reviews will be made once it's warmer.

My friend and I do a few hwy pulls before we both go turbo.
I have an '07 STI that has a bright dash when I start it, but at some point it goes dim. Trying to adjust it once it goes dim doesn't seem to work, or I am missing something and don't know how to adjust it. Any suggestions or resources for figuring this out?
I didn't even think of that 1 😂 But thank you!
i bought some blue ones on Ebay and they lasted 4 months anybody can tell me a good supplier ?
Alla lighting, although i haven't tried their t5 leds yet. their t10 have been great though
thanks bro from five years ago.
I did blue led and looks blue . No issues ...
Pro Tip To See Any Color Led Through The Green Tint This requires you completely disassemble the gauge cluster. Use Q tips and Rubbing Alcohol or Nail Polish Remover. Takes about 30-45 minutes to complete. First what you want to do is once you have cluster out and you remove the front plastics covers go to the back of the cluster, you’ll see the white cover. Remove that and you’ll fully gain access to the mother board of the gauge cluster. Once there find and locate the 8 bent silver clips holding in the dash needles. Gently bend them straight and poke the center, place your hand in front and prepare to catch the needle side face because they will pop out! Next what you want to do is grab the 2 gauge faces (Fuel/Temp & Tac/Rpm’s ) and flip them around so you’re looking at the back of the needles/motor. You’ll see the numbers and green film that makes the cluster look green, use a q tip with some rubbing alcohol or nail polish remove and gently rub away the green film. DO NOT use a lot of pressure as you can damage the face by cracking it as it is thin.( Not to bad but you’ll see the crack when it’s installed again because ligjt will pass through it ) NOTE this does take about 30-45 minutes to complete as you do need to go under more plastic pieces and be careful. NOTE if you put back together your cluster and one of the needles don’t work chances are you pressed to hard, there’s a clip under the needle that is used to press the gauge face, gently use a small flat head screw driver and push it back down as when you apply back pressure sometimes the clip can pop out and rub against the needle causing it not to swing properly.
Is the green tint on all cars with the green guages?
Yes on every Impreza & forester years 2002-2007. Not including the Sti model as they are red from factory
@@OwenstiI've got a 2004 Outback
Yep it’s green should be the same thing. Once you take apart the cluster and open it you’ll see the green film/coating
Is it the same on the 2000 gc8 ?
But why is that light there .. my moms stranded cause that light is on and her key won’t turn… Any tips??
steering wheel might be locked pull back the steering wheel and twist and it'll be able to turn the key
Where do you buy the bulbs and covers?
To my unfortunate surprise the cluster is tinted green lol, I tried to do white
@BM-vb9bo late comment but if you want to see the white through the green, you need to completely take the cluster apart. The fuel and temp are one unit and the speed/rpm’s are one unit. If you flip it around to the the back and remove the white cover you’ll gain access to the mother board. There’s 8 clips holding the units in if you bend them gently and press on them they’ll pop out, you’ll want to have your hand in back so they don’t fall on the floor. Next grab the units and flip them around you’ll see the reverse side of the needles and numbers and also see the green/teal paint where the light passes through and makes the cluster look green. If you get some nail polish remover and some q tips you can very easily remove the green film. Just be very careful and be patient because it takes about a good hour to do it nice and clean. Also don’t press to hard because you can tear the black material as it is thin.
If you're going to go through the trouble of updating your lighting on your gauges to make them brighter and better you need to go to the one step distance and do the rest of the lights on the dashboard so everything looks OEM
I got an 06 wrx, and the top plastic piece is stubborn, os there bolts or anything
Yep. Two of them underneath the steering column.
@@waltbaze8771 thank yiu
My light is out so is the LED an alternate to OEM ? Can I pick a color ? What part # and where to get ? Appreciate video & reply.
a green or red 74# t5 led will work fine
Bug 👁
Are 04-07 Sti stock cluster bulbs led? Seem more dark orange than red
It’s because the cluster has a green tint
I have a tach needle spun around and stuck on the wrong side of the knob where it rests, can you pull off the clear plastic cover easily with the cluster assembly out? It looks like it but I wanted to make sure before I go pulling mine.
Hello, my question is do all Subarus have this? My 2009 forester does but my 2013 impreza does not. I miss it. I can't find any info on it.
Missing one? The handwriting on the back should ring bells. Old one 199.999 miles. HUMMMM a scam perhaps?
My current cluster is broken, if i put a new one in with different mileage and these LED’s will it change my mileage or remember the current one
You gotta get it changed bro
@@WRCKS so my mileage will change to the different mileage that’s on the new cluster
@@APBGOLF mileage most likely wont transfer.
Hi , thanks for tutorial. Could you advise if we need change all the bulbs to T5 leds for it to work ?
thanks very much!
now i can happily pay my mechanic, knowing he had to do all this
This is sick but this makes it so the climate controls are off color. How bad would it be trying to replace those leds?
Did you use the saw bulbs fro he dash for the key surround ?
I clicked the link for amazon and it said there for honda del sol. Do they still fit my 02 wrx?
5:22 DID HE FART? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Did u ever figure out the other panels??!! Like the ac controls?? Damn u gave us a sneek peak but never uploaded a video :’(
Just slide out your hvac control unit. Pull the knobs straight out. The bulbs will be right there. 3 bulbs total. Same type as cluster.

5:42 what do you mean here bro? i can’t see my check engine light and all my fuses are fine what do i check please help you seem to know more than me
ua-cam.com/video/bM73M34FydE/v-deo.html
hi so I followed these steps and was wondering if anyone has the same problem after the new installation my light I just replaced won't turn off even after I locked the car? help please
how did you fix it?
@@ninomalo5193 unfortunately i didn't, so i just removed the bulb and called an electrician, he stated "it's very likely that it's a wiring issue" $120 an hour so... that's why it's not fixed lol
@@mrriceguy6249 found the solution with the door sensor... in my case
If yours has a led bulb , it might be just the polarity.
Did you have to scrap the tint green out
ua-cam.com/video/bM73M34FydE/v-deo.html
That seems a lot easier than I thought it would be. I'm going to try it. Saves me hundreds by not going to autoelectrician. Thanks.
What site did you get the bulbs from
That's what I'm wondering
are they dimmable?
Any bulb should work with the factory dimmer switch for the dash.
LeDs don't dim to anyone who sees this
If I didn’t get the adapters with the lights how can I get the adapters mine didn’t come with any sadly
you should be able to use your existing bulb adapters.
thanks bro, mission complete !!
Hey, so these lights in the description say for Honda del sol, do they still fit the 04 wrx??
I didn’t get the backs with them so now I’m stuck with just the bulbs...
I bought this car used and mine was red. Im trying to figure out if it comes as a red led from the factory or if its a non led red? I dont want to buy a red led just to find out that the brightness didn't change
Hi I’m 3 years late but it was always green from factory
how many bulbs did you need to do this?
Get 10 t5’s and 4 t10’s
@@kingsandor8919 what are the t10s for? The link in the description shows only t5s
Texas Cruiser only get t5s not t10 that’s for license plate
@@zachowns1023 ah gotcha. Thanks man!
Hey I did this with purple but they arent so bright and start to flicker now what would cause that?
so to change the color of the odometer screen, all you did was change the bulb? no need to remove the green film behind it?
Are the bulbs the same for a 02 Subaru Impreza ? (non turbo)
Yep!
@@1MotoXRacer1 Hi, any difference in bulbs for the JDM V7 WRXs? I have one of those and want to replace the factory green with blue LEDs. Cheers!
Was your cluster still dimmable?
that's an important question
I did this mod on my cluster with blue leds however I can’t seem to get my needles to illuminate, they were much brighter in red before I did the mod.
All the bulbs fit for me but I couldn’t get them into the 2 little boxes, the one that reads temperature and the mileage one
Dam. Thats what I need to fix.
I’m doing this in a 04 Forster. Are all the lights 194s? If I order the amazon pack will that be all the lights I need? Or will I need more bulbs for the tinier bulbs.
You will also need T10 bulbs in addition to T5
Would this work for an outback 2001
Are the bulbs the same for the forester 2002
