DRONE VIDEO – WATCH 568 WORKS STRATFORD YARD
July 04, 2024
This video features the work of CN 568 at Stratford Yard.
CN 568 is the manifest known as the ‘Kitchener Turn’ which departs from and returns to Kitchener, Ontario and its work day takes it west from Kitchener to Stratford, St Marys and London with stops made as needed.
Our power on July 04 is the familiar EMD trio which has been frequently seen pulling 568 for weeks and it includes the interesting BNSF locomotive on loan to CN:
BNSF 2317 BNSF EMD GP38-2
CN 6420 EMD GP40-2 (GT Logo)
CN 4732 EMD GP38-2W
So please come along with us as we watch a little of CN 568’s work at Stratford that day.
And after the end of 568’s work at Stratford, stay with us for a look at the history Stratford’s GTW Station.

July 04, 2024 This video follows CN’s train 584 which services St Thomas, Ontario from London, Ontario. The crew for 584 comes on duty at 15:00 hours and the departure time from London, Ontario’s CN yard can happen any time after that. Our main objective for this particular trip was to attempt to film 584 crossing the 670 foot Kettle Creek bridge at mile 14.5 of the CN Talbot Spur on the north ...

Hi James, excellent video once again. I have visited the CN yard in St Thomas many years ago, from the east side and never knew the bridge was that close to the yard. I think the Payne Sub was abandoned just after Ford closed it Talbotville plant in 2011. I thought CN had completely given up on St Thomas at that time. Guess I should make another trip soon. I wonder about 4717's heritage, CN ordered all their GP38-2s with Canadian Comfort Cabs ( wide nose ) so is it possibly ex Northern Alberta Railway? Obviously it's been CN for a long time with the Sargent Stripes. Happy Thanksgiving ( Rick )

Great video, James! It's a thing that we experience in many places - much of the railway infrastructure is no longer needed, and then it is either sold or demolished. This station building looks beautiful. It could still do well for a regional transit hub with 4 or 5 lines - as long as it is close enough to the town or city that it serves. Have a good Sunday. Dirk

Grüße an dich, Wolfgang.

James.

Hi Mike. Great to hear from you again ! Thanks so much. This was my first time checking out that area and it is quite different from the landscape we are used to around our usual haunts. Glad that you liked it. James.
