I didn’t quite get the movie when I originally saw it. But now as an adult, I look back and basically I think it could be summed up as this. Lily Tomlin and Dustin Hoffman were basically psychiatrists. They called themselves existential detectives because the methods they resort to are not orthodox for a psychiatrist, and also because they’re trying to find the meaning of their clients life. it’s been a long time since I’ve seen the movie so I might need to rewatch it. But that’s my take going from memory.

Looks unreal, like a dream. The music really works ❤

Easily one of the most underrated films I've ever seen. The script, cast, cinematography, acting, all work in harmony, and there's little nods to so many great artists, theorists, philosophers. What I love about this film is that in order to look at human behaviour entirely it's best done through comedy.

Still to this day, one of my favorite scenes and any movie just so well done

Later in the movie, when he's pressured to tell the Shania story again, he barfs into his hand. It's in my "top five movie moments I've laughed hardest at" section in the back of my brain.

When I was young when this came out It felt like we were right on the edge to understanding ourselves with self examining entertainment like this It's a wonder that we went straight fantasy with more truth than the dramas that were rl stories Like got Where the politics and characters were more real As superhero movies showed the exact same struggle for enlightenment
