Mindustry - Salt Flats - No Building
If anybody ever struggles on salt flats again I will strangle them.
In all seriousness, this was actually a neat way to make salt flats even slightly interesting. I was continuing along minimum research and just *didn't* want to do salt flats, because even under the extremely restrictive rules of minimum research it is NOT interesting. This was a good way to spice it up. Note that I didn't switch the unit builder because I felt that would be less interesting, and having it stay on daggers feels more in the spirit of the challenge anyways.
This was my second successful run of doing this, much cleaner than the first.

And there we go. A full success, with no questionable nature about it this time. I did this attempt on the BE build, which apparently changed the waves a little. That's why the eclipses spawn on wave 15 rather than wave 11. And this time, I didn't pause OBS for over half the attempt. Probably the most stressful part of turretless, launchpad-less, and full cores 24 attempts, as it requires me to not be horrible at micro and to be at least slightly aware of my unit positioning. This is in fact part of the actual "success" that I cut out, so, hey, that's kind of neat.

That was weird. Also I left OBS paused for half the mission so you don't get to see me killing the right two cores and killing the eclipses which was probably the most interesting part so that's... unfortunate. Guess I got to do it again.

I was having trouble capturing this before. I set up a basic defence with scatters and salvos. Then I used this method and finally got it. Thanks

One thing i have been wondering as a relatively new player, are RTGs actually good or are they just convenient? Cos the power output seems kinda low, but late game this seems to be the only power generation players use. The small size and ease of feeding them fuel seems to be the best things about them, but would it be better to build a thorium reactor if you had the space and materials?
The main thing about thorium reactors is the explosion if cyro ever drops, which 1 insta-kills a core. So RTG's are more of a build and forget option of power, akin more to thermal generators. Hope this helps :)
@@3mp4th3t1c yeah! I've been playing this autistically for like a month now since I got it XD found out that the reactor will blow my core the hard way... I did all the math and stuff too so thorium doesn't go as far but makes waaaaaay more power. I made a reactor providing like 75k power/s and I think an RTG of the same size would have been like 20-30k. I do wish they'd make the reactors 2x2 instead of 3x3 though. The only thing that stops me from using them more is that even 9 thorium reactors is ducking huge, whereas I could fit a bunch of RTGs in a narrow space much more easily
@@christophermccutcheon2143 I have a schematic that uses thorium reactors to launch into new sectors and I'm thinking about just swapping it out for a impact reactor. (My current one is using 3 thorium reactors when I could just kickstart an impact and have like +3k more power). I also totally understand the autistic playing / hyperfocus, as I personally have 125 hours on Salt Flats alone (tinkering with export hub lmao)
As mentioned before rtg generators arent that good for power but they just use fuel incredibly efficiently (most efficient in the game in fact) and are easilt spammable, one laser drill can supply dozens of them and they provide good power for the amount of work it needs to set up

Wouldnt quads also be a good option? Just run em through the cores and watch them go boom, quads are also faster yo produce than velas
You could also load them with either pyratite or blast compound, as it sets off the item the unit is holding when it crashes. (Ie, pyratite starts a fire, blast compound explodes)
@Senn-from-Veric the unofficial wiki states this as a strategy to quickly take over the sector, very effective

Um basicly get resorces from other sectors thats it its quite easy i even beat some pvp and challenge maps but i failed 1 of the challenge map but i think its not a challenge its name is sewer i dont think its a challenge map or idk

I did that the time i got this sector and it was fast to do for defense i made some quasar you don't need many and you don't need too many things and 1 corvus is more than enough
1 corvus is as expensive as his whole army lol. I mean sure if you want to make a t5, go for it. But a few t4 get the job done too

Seem like Anuke removed that command centre. To be honest, the new command mode is nice, but it would be good if the old command methods was kept. Now I can't control 9 mega and build with insane speed anymore.
You can make things that can build or mine help you if you select them, there’s an option menu under the “what your commanding”
@@hifty7779 yes, but there are more. Crawler for example, lose pretty much all of it's power due to this, as it was meant to be mass produced and automatically attack. It is also much harder to exploit many units long missile attack range, for example, zenith and risso. V6 commander mechanism allow you to make units shoot at your cursor, even if there are no target. This change really nerf more unit than it should.

@@dylanherrera5395 it offer a fix to most, but not all problem. I have 3 logic scheme that allow crawler to auto attack, the problem was they still don't act the way they used to. If you set them to attack cores, they will not explode when running into a wall or a turrets. Maybe someone has a logic that allow crawler to explode at any enemies build but Idk.
I wish I have known about it... I wasted 4quads..
