How is the after treatment pain managed?
This is a great question, thank you for sharing that. Depending on the patient, a normal post-op pain management protocol would be followed.
😢💔😢💔😢💔😢
How will a vet prevent the next injury to the horse when the training is not considered? Should horses be expected to stand up to any training and riding once an injury is healed? I don't think so. Are you willing to bring trainers to the table? We (trainers) are on the front line of defense (or not) against lameness.
Paige thank you so much for this comment - you are absolutely correct. At the end of the day, when it comes to preventing and recovering from lameness training - ie correct movement, conditioning and exercise - really is a fundamental and essential component. For that reason, trainers have a really important role to play within the multi-disciplinary team 💚 Thank you so much for highlighting that
I would love to chat if you're open to it.
Librela killed my lab 😡💔
I’m so sorry. We lost our girl also because of Librela 💔
@@Cyn-i5i So sorry 💔💔💔 it’s taking so many lives
I am very sorry to hear that 💔 At this point, there are many risk factors associated with the use of Librela that don't seem to be taken into consideration with every patient
Thanks for birthing a LEGEND MRS AMSTUTZ
Is it also possible to use videos in these digital products? Or is it only images and text?
many many thanks for this video ! I learned a lot, ozone for animal seems so useful and so underdevelopped as treatement. I'm in Europe and i am seaclooking for treatment for my cat she has pancreatic cancer 😢. So far i can't find a vet knowing anything about ozone or having équipement and training, and if i have to buy it myself i would have no idea how to use it i would need trainin . I'm going to try and contact jonathan Lowe if he could have any vet or company he could recommand in Europe. Thanks again for this itv.
Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear about your cat. We wish you all the best and I am sure Jonathan will be able to help you.

Incredible information, thank you so much
This drug should be taken off the market it's poison. It killed my dog with only one injection.
24 hours after my dogs first shot he lost control of his back legs, over the next few days he got some feeling back but was also suffering with bowel incontinence. After assurances from my vet that Librela could not possibly be causing these problems we went on to give him 2 further shots. He continued to decline. We are now 100 days since the last shot and is slowly coming back but i don’t think he will ever be the dog he was prior to the devastating first shot. Zoetis are not interested in anything but profits. Do your homework people this is not a miracle drug. There are thousands of us with the same story.
Cytopoint it's a monoclonal antibody drug also and although it was for allergies, it caused the most horrific bacterial skin infection imaginable and made my dog itchy to the point of tearing his hair out. It was an absolute nightmare that is still ongoing a year later! My rescue dog has never been the same. He's had horrific ear infections ever since that we can't get rid of. A black discharge and green pus ooze out of my dog's ears everyday. I spend all my time trying to clean him up and keep him comfortable. They ruined his life and mine is basically dedicated to trying to comfort him.
my dog has a good answer respond very well for the moment on librela it is night versus day in a day or 2 he reverse to the stage of an old dog with many pains to a vivant lively dog he is 10 german shepard
My dog had devastating side effects within days of getting Librela. I would not recommend to anyone.
We are sorry to hear about your experience, and hope that your dog has recovered. As Dr Mike shares in this interview, Librela does have risks and a full neurological work-up should be performed before it is prescribed.
@@onlinepethealth1741and there is absolutely no way to determine which dogs will do good and which dogs will be harmed.
@@Cyn-i5i Thank you for that comment - as Dr Mike explains, there is a screening process that should be incorporated before prescribing librela. Any neurological deficits should immediately exclude a patient 💚 Dr Mike Farrell will go deeper into the subject of Librela use during the Vet Rehab Summit 2024, and you can leard more from him through his UA-cam channel, Vet Lessons
My horse was just as the pictured grey described! Stands camped under both in front and behind often. Has mild OA in lower tarsals and uptake (on bone scan) at the PSL. He lands on outside of all four hooves, worse in front. Farrier says to trim any different would create problems elsewhere (after me googling and suggesting a shorter toe for the PSLD!). My horse can be extremely adverse to grooming and I’m sure it’s due to discomfort. But he’s not always🤷♀️. Any ideas on how to further help him?

I think I heard that dogs should not stay on the Nsids while on Librela. My 13 year GS has spondylosis, and has now had two shots of Librela, but has not been taken off Truprofan and Gabapentin…?! Should I stop them?
From what I’ve read, supplements promoting joint health should definitely be continued as this drug only stops pain. Unfortunately, it also inhibits any healing where nerve growth factor is involved. From an article at Pawsatively Fit: Limited testing on the use of of Librela and NSAIDs (Carprofen) for 2 weeks at the same time has been shown to be safe. We don’t know if longer concurrent use would be harmful. In human clinical trials, concurrent dosing of NSAIDS and monoclonal antibodies for more than 4 months did lead to some cases of rapidly progressive osteoarthritis. While rapidly progressing osteoarthritis hasn’t been recognized in the dog, it’s likely important for owners to know it has been seen on the human side.
How many beagles were in the study? And were they caged?
An FDA article dated May 5, 2023 indicates dogs in the test group were owned by individuals, so apparently, in this specific test, the dogs resided with their owners. I can't locate a second article that I read previously indicating there were about 140 beagles tested (going on memory here). I find it very interesting, and disheartening, to have also read in that article that the drug was only tested for three months (three injections) before entering stage 3 trials, that is, direct use in veterinary hands and administration to our pups. People should understand that this drug inhibits pain, but when pain isn't felt, additional injury can occur because pain isn't there to signal a need to stop the activity that would normally cause pain. Also, this drug works by blocking nerve growth factor (NGF). Unfortunately, NGF has lots of other jobs to do in the body (like healing tissue), so pain isn't the only thing impacted.
@@TinaSpencer-mr1cpexactly it was not tested long enough. Unfortunately our dogs are being tested and many are failing these test!
1:17:03 This is the most informative conversation about the whole horse! Loved this!!!

That's great!
Thank you for this information. At almost 4 a.m. I am up caring for my beagle who appears to be having adverse reactions after her third shot 10 days ago. I hope people do their research before agreeing to this treatment.
Hello, how is your girl doing? I hope she is better. Do you know what happened? I have a 14 yr old girl and am thinking of starting her on Librela but there is not a whole lot of information available.
@@mizzLopez, sadly she passed just over an hour after I posted. Given the symptoms and fast decline, my vet, and I, believe she suffered ruptured chordae tendonae (tendons that control the heart valves). At the time I assumed I was seeing Librela side effects when in fact it was her heart failing. I do not have confirmation that Librela was responsible. I can say, however, she had a mid-level heart murmur (wasn't taking any heart meds) and arthritis, but no other illnesses or meds. My biggest issue with Librela is the lack of transparency and the manufacturer withholding information that would allow people to make informed decisions. Please also understand this medication is supposed to be used as a last resort when nothing else has worked and quality of life is poor. It is not the cure all some tout it to be. There are some dogs who should never receive it, but you don't hear much about either of these issues. Please read as much as you can, check out Facebook groups, etc., to get a good understanding of what your options are and potential consequences. I wish you and your pup the best.

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy you were able to learn from this podcast.
I had a Northern Dancer grandson as a teenager for Pony Club in the 80's, he always had a stumbling/falling issue especially on uneven/bad ground, carried his head twisted, crashed through jumps and stood very base wide on the front. He was a good looking horse otherwise and usually won confirmation classes oddly enough. One thing that always stood out to me was the enormous girth he needed for my English saddle! I lived in a fairly large horsey city and it took me forever to find a girth that fit...for the longest time I used the biggest girth available with 2 girth extensions. He wasn't fat, wormed regularly, just extremely wide through the front. I do now wonder if he had rib/sternum issues but don't recall anything unusual other than overall size. He was put down at about 9 year's old after he didn't recover from a lumbar injury from yet another fall while show jumping at a 3-day event.
wow
I love all this information. It would be awesome If you guys would use charts or show the anatomy you are speaking of. Would be super helpful ! Not sure where “primary lymph nodes” are.
This was amazing! You’re absolutely brilliant Michelle

Also are there treatments recommended for AMI that has become chronic (2+ years) ?
Can it happen only one side of the body ?
Curious what both of you ladies think about treeless saddles?
Thank you for this very interesting interview, and special thanks to DrWimberley, who shares his thoughts and knowledge with much generosity. I’m a physiotherapist and osteopath for dogs and horses and I am also a trainer for Medical Training Therapy for dogs. This method comes from Physiotherapy for humans and is used after operations and traumas. But it works also incredibly well for dogs. First step is Mobilisation combined with stretching, second step Stabilisation combined with Coordination, after that you start with strength endurance training and last with Hypertrophy Training. Each step takes about 1-2 month, depending on the animal. In each step you work on different areas. Long muscles in the Mobilisation, short muscles in the stabilization, Feedback training in the endurance phase and feed forward in the hypertrophy phase. So for a sound dog/human you need mobility and stability, feedback and feed forward movement. I am quite sure you can say the same about horses.
Thank you for that comment - yes you can absolutely say the same for horses
Ah. Not THAT kind of string theory. Right.
Nope! not THAt string theory 🤣 Although THAT string theory did end up as our dinner conversation topic!
I swear by Antinol!! Has been bloody brilliant for my two dogs. Highly highly recommend to anyone who has a pet facing mobility or joint issues!! Even read bit of the science behind it, and couldn't be more confident in it.

I would be really interested to have that book list since I have never come across any anatomy texts that claim the infraspinatus has a medial component. None of the dissections I’ve taken part in support this idea of any part of the infraspinatus muscle lying medial to the scapula and acting as ‘cushion’ between the scapula and the brachial plexus.

Hello, you are more than welcome to reach out to her via her website. Here is the link www.balancethroughmovementmethod.com/. Have a great day!
Horses are very good at disguising subtle lameness, it's part of their survival instinct. In the wild, predators seek out vulnerable individuals to take down; a horse that appears sound is less likely to be selected. This is one reason why early lameness can be difficult to diagnose, but facial expression and attitude changes are an important clue that's often overlooked.
Thank you so much for sharing!
