I've been printing my little heart out over the last several weeks. After many hours, some successful, others not, lots of filling and sanding I think I'm finally ready to see if the Batwing will fly. I'm running a 50mm FMS EDF, skywalker 60A ESC, and a Turnigy Nanotech 4s 3300. Servos are GDW 9g. I used Polylite filament to print the plane. Regarding the finish, I'm sure it was a bad launch - ...

3.5 min. flight time. WTF
3rd or 4th kit when I make the order! Love the ship and your presentation sparks the desire for another. A great parallel for the Navy A6A I flew once upon a time a really long time ago ago.
It happens, even to Brian Phillips.
Nice.
What size/type of props does it use? (Mine also broke😭)
Yo tengo uno de esos y vuela muy bien,no es nervioso y entra en pista hasta con los EDF sin gas,es una maravilla
awesome stuff! reminds me of painting warhammer
Nice one Jay!! Soft pencils!! You can also use Chinagraph/Grease pencils.. They're a bit more greasier..... so you can smudge them - good for smoke staining out of exhaust pipes etc
We saw 2 A-10s flying around our town a few times this morning.. we are not too far from Whiteman AFB. You cant miss the sound when they are coming.
Awesome! I've never seen one IRL. Must be very cool!
@@JimmyDsRC we get to see the B2 once in a while also. Pretty cool indeed.
Congratulations on your beautiful new jet. I love mine. Make sure you set your CG properly. Speaking of CG, the factory CG makes it a bit nose-heavy, and that could cause the nose gear to touch down first on landing, causing the plane to enter an infamous hopping motion that will destroy your nose landing gear. I found this information in the forums. "The consensus is that the book CG 78mm is too nose heavy. It will fly fine there, but you really have to be on top of your landings to keep the nose up. Most of us have moved the CG back to 85-90mm. I've found 86mm to be the sweet spot." Mine is set to 86 mm, as per the forums' recommendation. Now, the plane flies and lands much better. One thing I highly recommend you to get is a nose landing gear brace for your plane. Trust me, you'll thank me later if you get it. Here's a link fit the one I got. www.ebay.com/itm/164392493595?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=gIknIfa6T-i&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=ZDOa1F9jRca&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=WHATS_APP Another thing I switched on my plane were the trailing main landing gear, for the normal shock absorbing ones sold by MotionRC as an upgrade for the plane MotionRC recommends either all up and down shocks or all trailing ones to avoid unexpected bouncing at landing. I wish you a successful maiden flight day😁🙏🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾 Here's the maiden flight of mine on a very windyday... ua-cam.com/video/iM38IKaLq1A/v-deo.htmlsi=5pKiIIocPNaUCy7l Thumbs-up for your video 👍🏾 Have a great rest of your day 😁 Greetings from Douglas, Arizona 🌵🌵😊🇵🇷 Like #21
Dang! My boxes never show up in mint condition like that! Usually they have boot prints and holes and crushed corners!
Positives and negatives of living in Australia. No motion RC, so you've got to get these off hobby shops or low volume importers. That seems to result in more care with each package, but higher shipping costs.

Looks a bit large for an 80mm
It is a big plane but flies beautifully...👍🏾😁
The extra 80mm helps I reckon! :D
I got one a couple weeks ago and the 80mm is fine! It’s not a speed demon, but is quick even on the 80’s
Very cool mate, im glad to see the "big gun" back in the hangar!
Very Nice! keen to see this fly!
Thanks Michaelzhang!
What size batteries did you use & what was the flight time?
@@robertjones1855 heya, I usually use a 4S 3300mAh and if I want to land on storage ~3.8v/cell I get 4:30 of mixed flying.
Assume this is a 60" ?

It was a sad day for the old GWS me262. Im glad you tried your best to get her flying mate. That landing with the Mirage wasnt my best but man it was tricky to get down safely, im so glad its in one piece!
I’m glad you were able to get the Mirage down with minimal damage. She’ll fly again, and hopefully will be much easier to control with your new settings. Plenty of fun was had on the day. I really enjoyed spending time with you guys! 🍻
@@JimmyDsRC for sure, im keen as mustard to get her flying well and seeing what she can really fly like! Me too man, hey that little Mustang deserves its own video, I really enjoyed seeing the p51 ripping around
Wow challenging day by the looks man
Still plenty of fun though!
Great video
Awesome, looks like it doesnt need a lot of runway even on grass am i right
@@Reptielenfreak 100% correct, and this was a maiden flight so he was flying conservatively. I reckon once he becomes more familiar with the high-alpha characteristics, the take off run will get noticeably shorter!
Bel modello e bravo al pilota
Awesome man thanks for capturing that. wicked such a awesome flying jet so good very happy.
Too keep my biplane flying wires tight at all times i use small springs on the ends and string it real tight to begin with that helps alot and works best over all.
What battery did you use?
A 4000mah 4s?
Would have gone with a Turnigy nanotech 4s 3000 or 3300.
Mate, you did such a good job building it. God only knows how the CG is worked out on something so small and not a standard shape. When it is perfected, let’s put it up against my Gecko 🦎 delta wing. Awesome job pal.
Fix and repeat :) But its what we love isn't it !
Hear hear!
😂
Hi - Just saw your Video With the Starmax Mustang - nice - since my similar plane crashed, do you have Idea where i can get spare parts - e.g. plastic Spinner back Plate? Greetings from Germany Frank
Hi Frank, thanks for your message. Sorry to hear your plane crashed. It’s always a pity when planes get damaged! The Starmax Mustang has been out of production for so long I’d think spares are rarer than hen’s teeth! You could try AliExpress or RC-Castle though. Plenty of spinners to retrofit there.
Awesome' RC 1/10th Scale 4x4 Off Roading Australia - North Shore Sliders at WRCS Nice video my brother Thank you very much for sharing Regards

What a great day it was down at the club awesome mate thanks for making the vid i really enjoyed it.
Gotta love the OMP Hobby products. nice flight Rcgus just a nice all round quality plane that fits in the car easy .
Well filmed mate, I do make it hard for you to follow where im flying sometimes, so well done! Absolutely love flying this little gem of a plane!!
You do a good job flying it, the smooth operator!
Cool video bro, that was a really fun trail to drive with you guys! At 3:24 its that go for broke launch that some how made it up the challenging line 🤠 And a bucket load of luck !!
You got some good vertical off that launch hey!
Nice one man its a cool trails that one 😎
Yeah man, I paid for having all that fun in the mud later though. I think my SCX10 still isn't clean!
@@JimmyDsRC lol
I have one thats never been flown missing motors and gear still looking for them. a nice plane though.
So how did you end up with the differential percentages? And also have you mixed any rudder in with ailerons? I'm getting some adverse yaw with that plane. I've mixed in a little rudder a s it's helped but I'm wondering if some aileron differential would also help with this? I like your channel man. The build video for the OMP decathlon was great I used it while assembling mine!
Hey man, sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the kind words and I'm glad my channel holds some value for you! I knew the plane would need differential thanks to my experience flying the Citabria (Pretty much a poor man's Decathlon). The Citabria is a tough little plane and a great tailwheel trainer. It has a very strong adverse yaw, which is great because it teaches students to use rudder properly. I reckon a bit of mixing is a good idea. As for how I came up with the percentages, I started with an educated guess and then resorted to trial and error!
Hey Jimmy d's rc i have recently pirchased the super decathlon and iam having trouble with the tail traging throigh the counors a lot becuase of the adverse yaw i belive, and iam wondering do you use any mixing in your plane like aileron to rudder or aileron differential to compansate for the adverse yaw thank for your responese in advance Tony Beverley
Hi Tony, thanks for watching, and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! I did a video on aileron differential for the OMP Decathlon, check it out below if you'd like. Long story short, I found it needed about 35% aileron differential (more up than down) to keep the rolls nice and axial. On a related note, as a real pilot I've got over 100 hours in Citabrias, the decathlon's less powerful brother. That plane needs rudder every time you use the ailerons to keep the adverse yaw in check. The way I see it, if you want to fly it scale some rudder mixing is a great idea! I haven't experimented with it yet though. Hope it goes well for you! ua-cam.com/video/iEHbHaXMedc/v-deo.htmlsi=eWbwsCMqdrk0U5fM
Thanks heaps for that information Jimmy D I appreciate it,I will definately try the aileron differential after watch your videos witch I enjoy aswell, thanks again Tony
Mine is powered by twin .25 size electrics contra-rotating. A great flying plane, but short lived. As with ALL ARFs It was build with 'Profits' in mind and once the limited run was exhausted it was gone.
Yeah that seems to Horizon's SOP doesn't it?
How do you swap out EDF units from the housings? Does the housing need to be completely disassembled?
Hi ebikefe, so sorry, I sold both these planes before even taking them for a fly! Wish I could give you an answer other than a shrug of the shoulders...
I've got one...haven't flown it in 7 years likely. Can't stand the idea of potentially destroying it. I just look at it. 🙂
Yeah she's a nice bird!
It sure is a nice model to see fly in person ..mate well done on tracking it with the camera against those pesky clouds!
Thanks bro!
What port do you setup the throttle and elevator on i have the ailerons on 2 and 3 but cant get the elevator and throttle to work :/
Hi Blake, It's all managed in the radio. I'm using a spektrum NX series, and you just tell it you've got a flying wing.
Why fly a downwind approach???
Good question Centerline, thanks for watching the video. Our field is a bit idiosyncratic. Big drop in elevation from right to left, high terrain on the approach from the right, and we're in a valley. Windshear is the the rule, not the exception and the two windsocks often indicate different things. We find it's better to approach from the low terrain on the left and land uphill, even with a light tailwind, especially with the bigger models.
Nice work guys love the channel, and that plane is sweet
Awesome thank you!
wont it throw off the cg?
Great question! Thanks for watching. Nah, she flies just fine - it's such a light servo. Having said that, it's kind of useless. When I apply rudder I get an oscillation in the yawing plane. The rudder doesn't affect much else other than I can tighten up the spin a bit. It was an interesting experiment, but not worth doing in retrospect.
Nice flying! Am about to purchase the PNP version and was wondering if you recommended a certain Rx? Would kind of like one with stabilization just incase I got in a bind. I have a TX16s radiomaster. Thank you!
Thanks for the comment Brandon. I think you can't go wrong getting a receiver with stabilization. I use Spektrum receivers because I was grandfathered in via JR (an old radio brand). If you have the multiprotocol TX16s you could go that route. There are Spektrum naysayers however, just like anything to do with the hobby. If you ask 5 different gold winged members at the field the same question, you'll get 5 different answers! I like to have my ailerons on different channels so I can dial in differential as required, so you'll want a 5 channel receiver minimum if you're going to do the same.
@@JimmyDsRC thanks for replying. I ended up going with lemon Rx and wish I wouldn't have because it's the only one I've ever had lose signal and cost me my Omp Edge. I've never been so let down. Will be going with spektrum once I get a new fuselage.
@@brandonwesson6818 Oh man! What a bummer! I'm really sorry that happened to you. Hopefully there were some salvageable components!
@@JimmyDsRC well I ended up using some epoxy wood glue on it for now and it's back in the air lol motor mount isn't as stable as it was originally. I love the plane so much ill be replacing it with a new one for sure!
Any movement towards a release date?? 😁
