You just can't fix stupid! Stupid people like this idiot give photographers a bad rap.

I hate it when I see photos and videos that show the the act of or the result of inappropriate interactions with wildlife. The bystanders allowed this unsafe situation to proceed and would have actually been kinder to drive up and remove the photographer, despite ruining his continuing photo session. And the white SUV that does come help him get away in no way appears to be staffed by rangers. The photographer is lucky to have escaped with nothing but a headache. LEAVE WILDLIFE WILD!

The elk was just playing. This looks like a young male, and he keeps bowing his head to challenge him to a play fight, basically the elk equivalent of a guy coming up to you asking you to arm wrestle. The man kept bowing his head, too, which signalizes to the elk that he accepts the joust and wants to spar with him, even if the photographer obviously doesn't mean that. The elk was messing around with him and being cheeky; if he actually wanted to hurt the man, he would have inflicted some serious damage in a matter of seconds. Notice how the elk keeps backing away and waiting before bowing his head, giving the man a chance to "prepare". He was just trying to show the man up and play tough, and you could seee him leaving the man alone after he stands up and doesn't responds to the head bowing.

The photographer appeared to encourage the bull by lowering his head at times to effectively challenge the bull. Notice the bull would respond by faint charging him. To the bull and apparently the photographer, this was play. From my observation sitting low and lowering the head was provoking the animal. Just the act of standing up caused the elk to back off. That was a clue to make a jester and noise to intimidate and scare the elk off. That is only my perspective and might not have been evident to the photographer.

I think photographer darwin started the trouble. People like this make me sic. I don't feel sorry for them ehen they are gored. I feel sorry for the elk and all this animals that are exposed to things like this piece of work.

At 5:01 you see how the elk got scared and ran back lol. It's so odd how animals can't see how things are. To the elk, he was a smaller creature and all of a sudden it grew to a huge animal of his own stature. The same way they say for mountain lions you're supposed to grab something big and hold it over your head to appear "larger" lol

Please stop approaching wild animals, cause the animal usually always suffers in the end, when they have to euthanized them.

Makes you wonder about the competancy of the people that work for conservation departments. While the photographer put himself in a potentially dangerous situation, the elk sparred in a half-hearted manner. To arbitrarily put the animal down was unneccesary.

The “playing” comments seem very naive to me. You can tell it’s the start of Fall rutting by the leaves and the elks behavior. The elk is “playing” with increased testosterone coursing through his veins, and should not be taken lightly. I’m glad no one was seriously hurt, though I’d wager the photographer might have some skull and neck pain afterwards. Now that I think about it, he’s lucky he didn’t get concussed as well.

I had a back yard buck challenge me when I was just going to my car...I had to retreat to my apt. Because he wasn't backing down... now there was a lot of doe's around and they liked me,, so he probably saw me as a rival..so be careful when you are friends with the doe's the buck of the herd is watching you from some where. That photographer was lucky,, I would have no idea what to do that close out in the open... good thing his friends stayed in the car so you video his death..

Dude could have easily lost an eye when that bull was getting a little too excited that’s when you grab one of the antlers and give him a slug in the face then back up slowly most likely that will show him that you don’t wanna play
