Fall Garden Tour 2024 | Guest Pineal Founder, Noah Curtis
Join me for a fall garden tour where the summer crops are on their last stretch, and the fall crops are just starting to make an appearance. It’s that transition period where the tomatoes and peppers are fading, and the cool-weather veggies are still gearing up. This time, I’ve got a special guest with me: Noah Curtis, founder of Pineal Trade Stations, is joining the tour to ask some great questions and keep the conversation lively. Grab a coffee, and come hang out with us as we chat about the changing seasons and garden plans ahead! 🍁🌿 #FallGarden #backyardfarming #PinealTradeStations

You don't need a tiller to start a garden. While tilling can be beneficial in certain situations, such as breaking up compacted soil or incorporating amendments, it's not necessary for starting a garden. Plus, people have been practicing some form of gardening for thousands of years while the modern rotary tiller was only invented in 1912. Silage tarp: growhoss.com/products/silage-tarp?variant=...

Excavating what I thought was an old well. Mistake?
Переглядів 3528 місяців тому
My house was built in the 1950s and we keep finding interesting things. In the woods, on an outcropping, I found some sort of foundation. I thought it could be a well, a spring, maybe even a bunker it was the 1950's after all. I never considered it would be something more important.
Ever since I left the Navy sbd returned to farm life all i ever prefer to wear is my liberty bib overalls. I wear them everywhere. To the store, to church, to the doctor’s office, or to the bar.
Question, is this a signature tee with 22% nylon in it or a 100% wool tee? Thanks for the vid!
@@aurelgergey5470 this was the signature tee. I also have the 100% wool, which is great but can get a little fuzzy. The one with 22% looks good even after 250+ wears.
@@TylerLloyd Interesting!
I got a bottle of Tempo dust from Amazon; I put about a 1/4 cup in a measuring cup at the end of a long stick. After dark I went out it and a flashlight and just dumped the powder down the nest hole. Never saw another yellow jacket.
Dawn, love it, thanks!
its not stress its the pox vax. it removed your chances of natural booster infections.
I never got the chicken pox vaccine… 🙃
Yes Birth can be traumatic
🥰 So cute! Congratulations to you both.
Thank you!! 😊
Congratulations mate. Most won’t hit them until they are one year in… at least.
Thanks! ☺️

Ha! Very much so! 😆
They also kill Monarch Caterpillars 😢
Enjoyed your video immensely!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I did the dish soap trick with a screen over top of the hive at night, and hit it with a hose and they still live...
I also just joined the overall cult, I’m fully drinking that koolaid.#ohyeah
So I have a nest inside my window sill of my house the hole isn't that big I only have the apply scent dawn dish soap would that still work? Also like I said they have a maybe half inch hole in the side of my window sill do you think there would be another hole? I know they are some how getting into my house the last few days which is becoming concerning I just can't seem to find how they are getting into my house though they are right outside my kitchen window in the corner of the window sill but I keep finding them in my basement right below the kitchen window any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks 😊
*apple scent* not apply my apology
If it was me, I’d mix up a soapy water solution in a spray bottom and go to town on the opening. Just make sure you are well covered if they come spilling out! Be safe!
you can also put something over the hole preventing them from getting in or out and the will die on their own!!!
I think they’ll dig out, at least that’s what I’ve heard.
Home wastewater treatment plants are the way of the future. No massive drain fields, no digging around wondering where the septic tank is hidden. Expensive but but totally worth it if you live too far away from the main town sewer lines.
It has been great so far. The outflow area stays wet so I’ve planted a bunch of water loving native plants and they are thriving!
Is this an ad for dawn dish soap?
If so, I’m still waiting on my check!
😁😂
I finally had to call Orkin after tackling them every year for the last 40. In the past, I have drowned the nests out with water (I am a beekeeper and have all of the PPE). Usually the skunks will beat me to the larvae and this is why, no pesticide. This year, they built a nest up high in the wall of my house. Didn’t want to be swarmed when I am up on a ladder or have them break through into the wall board.
Yellow jacket stings temporarily get rid of my arthritis symptoms.
Much more effective at night when everybody’s home sleeping
Good joke... Now show us the mushrooms we came for.
@@Latebird27 chicken of the woods? Morels? I also have those in my woods.

lol. Plumber problem.
It's a serious affliction! haha.
Good to hear about alternatives to return ducts and door undercutting. I didn't know jump ducts were a thing, but it makes sense.
Same! I've yet to install them, but once we remove our unused whole house fan, I'll have a good place to add a jump duct.
The best routine video , i have watched like this is really organized and inspirational 🙏🏾
Wow, thank you!
Thanks Tyler. Your experience wasn’t that different from mine when I served as a PCV in Burkina in 1985. I had a moto, no cell phones. 😊
engine oil works well too with 10 mins or 30 mins of water hose if you wanna be sure, once those wasps cant fly they are royally fucked and i went over one once with a lawnmower man that shit hurts for days scary stufff
Had a nest swarm over me at Boy Scouts camp in the UK - 38 stings. Not good. Was 12 at the time.
What about ants?
@@ritagamez3732 should also work with ants, especially ants with a larger opening like fire ants.
My mom always said, to do the job, early in the morning. They do not fly so easily bc it’s very cool weather, or even better, very cold. The wasps won’t fly away easily while you are staying. I also do early morning in warm weather. I wouldn’t feel safe in the dark due to snakes.
Mistake # 1 - trying ANY of this in broad daylight!
Yak yak, and no actual demonstration
@@leighanneboles6609 with a lack of concentration like that, life must be really hard for you. Wishing you the best!
Great explanation . Thanks!
How long does the pain last I’m on day 10 and struggling more today then yesterday
@@yomararubio8180 are you on anti viral meds? Once I got medication, the worst of it was over in 48 hrs but there was lingering sensitivity for a few weeks.
Thank you. This was very helpful!!!
I'm 81 and still learning to balance my time and projects. Don't forget to enjoy today. Tomorrow will always be tomorrow
I had the same problem so one night I cut a piece of window screen about 20" by 20" and laid it around the opening of the nest then put bricks around the edge of the screen. Poured a bottle of Dawn dish washing soap in the hole then filled it with water till it started to over flow. Next morning no more yellow jackets.
I’m sold!

Google could have saved you from a lot of stings… like using the wasp spray at night 🤦♂️
I haven't ever had to deal with a *ground* yellow jacket nest, but have had to deal with lots of nests on my house and garage. One nest was somewhere behind a gutter. I bought some Sevin powder from a pest control company, and applied that to the nest, using a long snow rake pole with plastic tubing taped to the pole. Dipped the business end of the tubing in the Sevin, and attached my end of the tubing to a dollar store baster bulb, which allowed me to puff the powder into the spot on the gutter where they were coming and going from a safe distance. Took a few days, but all activity stopped eventually. The beauty of products such as Sevin is that they track the poison into the nest, which kills all of them eventually. It should work well on ground nests as well.
Awesome video and very informative! I have a BIG job head of me where I can't actually see the nest that I am after... it's located between a shed and a wooden fence. I'm going to suit up in my thickest clothes and use a 2 gallon sprayer with a water / soap mixture! Wish me luck and thanks for posting!!!
excellent video. thanks very much. I was armed with 30% vinegar mixed with water and a hose to completely drown the nest, but I'm going back to the store and grab a big jug of Dawn to add to the mix. Cheers mate!
We miss you Tyler. Come back
Currently dealing with a underground nest. It seems that about every 3 years one pops up in my yard. The first one I found was in my dog's pen and when I came home one day, hundreds of baby bees were around my dog and it was the first time I ever even seen a bee in the pen. Second one I found was while mowing and I was covered before I felt the first sting; the neighbors got a little strip tease while I ran frantically away stripping off all but the undies. I'm pretty sure they are yellow jackets because the honey and bumble bees have never bothered me
@@MSMNBC “strip tease” 😆. Yeah, sounds like yellow jackets. I often have honey, bubble , and other native bees surrounding me out in the garden and they never bother me.
