Hundreds of boats congregate at Palm Beach's Peanut Island to party on the island and off the sandbars. Island is dry, so drinking is on the boats and in the water. Then a real blast of a fireworks show in the nearby bay.

Janine's Ravine just off Mar a Lago. This is the time of year for turtles to collect here and then lay thousands of eggs in nests four or five feet deep in the sand of nearby beaches up the coast. Depth around 45 feet; water temp 83; light intermittent northerly current.

Small cave open to tourists. Wear sturdy shoes and take several lights. Bat guano on floor can be slippery.

Our nextdoor neighbor, cruise liner Margaretaville makes its home in the Port of Palm Beach and goes out for a night in the Bahamas every other day. Caught the boat as it departed under high wind conditions so it require a tug to shepherd it out of its slip.

Offshore south of Mar e Lago: some good lobstering by Divemaster/instructor Jay Perrault, a very experienced and capable divemaster. End of the dive got nipped by a curious and persistent trigger fish. Dinner included pasta alfredo with lobster. Water temp 74; visibility 50 feet; slight current.

Time to take note of some of the denizens populating the reef in wild abundance: everything you see here is in Kingdom Animalia, not plants. First Mate Jay caught a nice size black grouper and then commenced to make a very nice fettucini alfredo. West of Bimini. Water temp a warm 83l Moderate current; oddly, to the south.

There were so many sharks, they were too many to count. All friendly. Fishy area around two hours north of Grand Bahama. First Mate Jay snorkeled for a snapper and hooked it to his float. Next thing you know, it was hit twice by a hungry shark totally twisting and bending his heavy stainless hook system and making off with our dinner. Water temp 82; minimal current; around 35' visibility.

1 mile off Palm Beach Breaker Hotel. Water temp 82 degrees; Light current. A very spongy area and then at the end of the dive harrassed by a very persistent remora sucker fish that even nipped a hand.

Offshore Mar a Lago; Depth around 85'. Water temp 82 degrees. Light current. A short distance away: First Mate Jay Perrault pulled out seven good size lobsters that got converted into dinner and lobster bisque.

Been a looooong period of draught thanks to a variety of boat and physical issues. Took a little dive under the Blue Heron Bridge in Riviera Beach, FL. Water temp 88 degrees. While done at high tide, visibility was fairly compromised. Nothing too spectacular, but great being back in the water! Smiling diver's our first mate Jay.
