DeWalt Air Pump Repair DCC0201 - Lights on, but nobody is home (pump dead) when on Battery
The DeWalt DCC0201 (aka DCC018) Air Pump is one of my most handy DeWalts on the shelf. After about 2 years of faithful service, this one now lights up but the pump does not engage when on battery power. However, if I was to use external power, it works normally.
This video walks through the repair of the DCC0201 to bring the pump back to life. After replacing once of the two relays, all works like new.
Relays used in video (also shown in the video):
For the Battery Input:
SANYOU SRG-S-118DM 18VDC Power Relay 4Pins
For the 12v Line Input:
SANYOU SRG-S-112D 12VDC Power Relay 5Pins
Enjoy!

Warn ZEON Platinum - Dead Battery Solution
Переглядів 11 тис.3 роки тому
Admittedly the Warn winches are some good winches (over priced, but good). But it's also clear that they don't have a clue when it comes to engineering quality electronics, specifically speaking to their design of the wireless Platinum controllers. If you have one, you already know, the battery is good for about 2 weeks in the cold when sitting idle in your vehicle. And just when you need it mo...

2000 Toyota 4Runner Frame Rot Repair - Welded
Переглядів 188 тис.9 років тому
A video providing food for thought on how one might go about repairing the rotted frame of a 2000 4Runner, Gen3. After replacing all 4 of the brakes, front struts, springs, brake master cylinder, headlights, wind shield, and most costly a new crated transmission, the frame gave way. In general I had a choice of fixing the frame, or sending a relatively good (and now expensive) truck to the junk...

This was very well done. You mention in your video that you would be open to doing this for others for a price. Is that offer still on the table? I have the same problem and none of the savvy or tools you have. I would pay generously!

Hi Alex @kd5pff, I recently installed a Zeon 10-S Platinum winch a month ago, and sure enough the remote lost power within a week after I recharged it for the first time. I'd be eager to have you help me with this retrofit if you are still willing to take this on. Kindly provide your contact coordinates and we can discuss details.

I had the same problem of dropping charge so left the controller on permanent charge via USB in my car. I think the constant power cycling every time I ran my car has permanently screwed the battery. So then a couple of days ago when I needed it to recover a friend’s stuck car, I was very ‘unprepared’ for the dead controller that wouldn’t turn on even plugged into the USB. My own fault for not doing the homework. I look forward to trying your solution though I always wondered why they wouldn’t have a version available that runs in ubiquitous and replaceable AA batteries or similar. Thanks for a great video.

Wouldn't it be cool if Warn actually provided something that didn't have to be modified for their top of the line pricing? The Platinum is junk out of the box because of the fact that the controller becomes a single point of failure that cannot be bypassed. Great work, Warn.

Dumb question - can you just leave it plugged in to the USB 24/7 or will that hurt the battery? Not being a smart ass here at all, I think this fix is ingenious but if I leave it plugged in all the time, I won't have to bother worrying about it at all.

Unbelievable, that 4 runner looks so nice outside too, probably the interior is nice too. I cannot believe that Toyota refused to cover the 4Runner!! Toyota's vendors must be using recycled swing sets and Campbell's soup cans to make these frames, they are absolute garbage!! 8 year old repair, it's probably either junk again or you sold the truck... People who try to do this don't realize how hard this is to do on your back, if you don't have a car lift, this is not an easy nor a fun task. And to do it right takes many many hours; avoid that Safe -T -Cap stuff, all it does is cover the rust, trapping moisture in between. Chop out the rust and replace it, no exceptions...

Now why in the world would they not do this from the factory? 🤦🏼‍♂️ Are you still willing to do this for others? I’ve been debating on the Zeon 10-s VS the platinum but I’ve just seen a bunch of negative reviews on the platinum. How do you feel about it today? Thank you!!!

Spending thousands of dollars for Warn's most premium winch and having to resort to this. Why hasn't Warn address this issue? I've searched the internet to see if Warn has fixed this major problem and found nothing. I find it funny that above the screen of the remote, it says "Go Prepared". Yet that's the furthest thing from the truth, all you've got is a dead remote and expensive anchor.
