SWEET video, mate!
Thank you so much😁✨
I suddenly wanna go fishing...
The places where you catch nice trout are worth the trip just for the scenery. I grew up fishing the White River, Spring River and the Strawberry River in the Ozark Mountains. Thank you sir for such a beautiful video on a pretty stretch of water.
Thank you for your comment!! I’m so lucky to live near this beautiful river😊 I’m so glad you enjoyed this video😁
What a beautiful place. This Phoenix Arizona wasteland has nothing to fish.
So cool seeing the fish swim. I live in the middle of Phoenix and there's nothing to fish in this desert wasteland. What an awesome place to live over there.
When you fish in a large or small river, do you ever catch trout of 15 or 20 centimeters? It looks like the smallest fish in your rivers are 50 cm??? thank you for your videos.
@@michelgregoire5563 Thanks for your comment! It’s true that most of the fish we catch tend to be on the larger side, but occasionally, maybe 1 in 30 fish, we do catch smaller ones around 15 or 20 centimeters. The rivers here generally have a good population of larger trout!
How deep do you set your Nymph? It looks like the water is 8” deep how does three nymph get down or is it right under the surface? Curious how you’re setup to fish this small water…
Thank you for your comment! Sorry for late reply.. I’m using an indicator with two nymphs, and I keep the indicator set much higher than the water depth. The space between the two nymphs is about 20 centimeters. While fishing shallow water, I make sure to lift and pull the rod slightly to avoid letting the nymphs get snagged on the bottom. Indicator is not acting like a traditional float. It’s more for keeping track of where my rig is in the water. I also make sure the indicator lands behind the fish so they don’t see it as possible as I can.
👏❤
👍
Those sizes in such a small river?, absolutely crazy!!!.
Congratulations on your PB rainbow! Beautiful fish
Thank you so much!!😁✨
Wonderful! Great to see such good condition fish in the river,
@@waitaki_fly Thank you for always leaving such kind comments!! Yes, it was very good condition rainbow😁
Amazing fishing, your videos are my favourite to watch at the moment, it just embodies what fly fishing is all about. What indicator do you use and what floatant/dressing do you put on it?
Thank you for the warm comment!! I use the NZ indicator system, which is a combination of a tube and wool. Very sensitive to detect the small bite and easy to cast. I apply Loon outdoor’s fly dip as a floatant to my indicator.
顔カッコいいなぁ😂
めっちゃカッコいいですよね惚れ惚れします😁
Those are some amazing fish man. I live in the US and we get some salmon here that run into the creeks, but there are always trout that come behind the salmon. My favorite technique is using wooly buggers with a split shot or 2 up the line. The fish love it. You’ve got some great trout fishing there in New Zealand and I’ve always wanted to go there. Awesome video and keep up the great work! 🎣
Thank you so much! It’s great to hear about your experiences in the US. Trout following the salmon sounds like an exciting challenge. Wooly buggers with a split shot is a solid technique-definitely a favorite here too. If you ever make it to New Zealand, you’ll love the fishing spots! Thanks again for the support, and tight lines! 🎣
From what I hear you are originally a tenkara fisherman. That’s great and all, but you’ve got some fly line now. Strip some out and let’s get a cast that’s farther than a rod length away. 😊
The fact that you can catch trout that close to you is insane. That’s unheard of for 99% of streams
Maybe you got to be more mindful bro 😂 maybe you stomp around or something or cough or talk loud
@@TylerChristoher I fly fish in southeastern Pennsylvania, man. One of, if not, the most pressured trout fishery in the world
are you allowed to float fish there as well? cool vid
float fish is not allowed fly fishing only Thank you!
Hell,I could catch big fish there
Fishing heaven!
It sure is!
Unreal!
😂 I thought that Tainbow that took the Yoshi was going to pull your rod from your hands 😮 what’s the story with the NZ Rainbows are they all stocked 🤷🏼♂️ ✌🏼💙🎣🏴👍🏼
Are you tying your nymph to your dry or have you tied tipper on to your leader 👍🏼🏴
What strike indicator do you use?
NZ yarn indicator system👍
Great start M8 saw the fish changed rig & caught at 1st attempt 💯👌🏼😁 a beautiful brown as well your fly box at 7:40 ish is that the 4 section box it looks exactly the same as the box I bought as my 1st fly box in the summer ✌🏼💙🎣🏴👍🏼
I thought you were going to blank 🤷🏼♂️ lovely ending though 😁 I don’t bother when on the rare occasions I’ve blanked just being out in Nature is enough in itself the best mental medicine 😉👍🏼🏴
I really dig the way you make your vids no talking no music just the sounds around you it’s very hypnotic & it’s almost like it’s me wading up the river I swear I can smell the pungent aromas the plants on the bank give off 😵💫🙂 ✌🏼💙🎣🏴👍🏼
Glad you enjoy it!😄✨
M8 please don’t think I leave long comments like the one I just left 😬 I just love fishing 🤷🏼♂️ I spend hours watching videos on here anything to do with trout fishing I watch spinning & fly I try to learn new things but more often than not if I ask for advice I get no reply so when I do get a reply like you did I just get excited to talk about fishing & can get carried away I’ve learned so much from watching videos not all good but I’ve learned from my mistakes & consider myself a good fisherman although I don’t catch monsters like you do 😂 I very rarely blank on a trip well I’m off to bed take it easy & Tight lines 😊 ✌🏼💙🎣🏴👍🏼 Craig 😉
I get the a lot when I’m wading up my local river WoLeith fish swimming past me they are spooked so easily & the clarity is nowhere near as strong as this there’s one stretch it’s knee deep just now but it’s about a 1/4 mile long maybe not that long but it’s long straight about 6 meters wide that’s at its lowest depth but it can be waist deep after rain it’s hard to access unless you have waders so there’s some decent fish in that stretch I’ve only caught 3/4 fish in it & it’s always been at that perfect time in the evening when the sun is nearly gone & always on Rapala lures I’ve caught a few 7/8 inchers on a size 1 Mepps but my little Brother has caught a few on the dry fly there’s always fish rising when there’s a hatch so I can’t wait to get down there before the seasons out I’ve not had the chance to fly fish this season only been out 3 times & due to getting mixed up with braided loops I didn’t go out. last season when I bought my fly combo I snapped the tip on my 1st session maybe 10/15 minutes in I was simply pulling on my line to put the hook into the holder on the rod handle & it just snapped I was furious 😡 I took it back to the angling centre which is the only tackle shop in Edinburgh now there used to be at least 6/7 scattered across the city but now it’s just this place & it’s miles from me I don’t drive so unless I get a lift I would need to take 2 busses to get there 🤦🏼♂️ anyway I got a lift & the guy changed the rod no problem he noted it must have been a fault because of the way it had snapped I forgot to buy braided loops so my brother gave me one which was too big so to keep it on a used quite a bit of super glue which just made it hang under the surface with the extra weight of the glue 🤷🏼♂️ I didn’t know braided loops come in different sizes so not being able to go out as I needed one that fits I refused to take local transport & couldn’t get a lift I couldn’t order online as I couldn’t see any indication of size so I had to go to this tackle shop it was my only option but I left it & just went spinning well on my last session out just a week or two ago I was spinning & my Brother was fly fishing we split up as usual & it’s not long until I’m into some wee browns but I managed to get my best of this season it was maybe 2lb maybe just a bit less I was stoked that feeling the adrenaline it never gets old well I caught up with my Brother further up stream he had blanked so we decided to go for one more hour well till it got dark I lost a couple none landed so I’m wading down stream it was getting quite dark by now my eyes are bad enough & I wasn’t sure if it was my Bro I saw 👀 so I’m squinting trying to figure out if it was him I saw his arm move when he was casting his fly & I saw & heard an almighty splash he shouts I’ve got you 😮 I raced down & filmed him as he had just netted a lovely brown that he swears has got the better of him on numerous occasions 😂 it was a lovely fish I’ve got the two videos up on my channel they are both shorts less than a minute long I say channel but it’s just lots of short videos I’ve made using my phone as I don’t have a Go pro & most vids are once I’ve hooked or netted the fish it’s not a proper channel well it turned out he had caught 2 nice browns just before I got there but I’m taking the credit as I let him use my Furled leader we hadn’t heard of them but I bought one to try after seeing it used on another fishing video so we ended the session & left as we’re walking back to his van he tells me he’s got Braided loops in his bag I thought he meant the same ones he’d given me which were too big no he said & got them out to show me he had 2 sizes so I got the smaller one I got home & hey presto it fitted perfectly it turns out he’d had them since the beginning of the season 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ WTF I could’ve killed him 😂 I could have been out fly fishing after all if I’d know he had them all this time 🤦🏼♂️ sorry m8 I feel like I’ve just written a book with this rant about a braided loop 😬 I hope you see the funny side if not apologies 🫣 Check out the 2 vids it will only take two minutes it’s just to show you what we consider a decent wild brown in this wee river The Water of Leith 😁 you’ll understand why I’m so envious of your location 🤷🏼♂️ right I’m done I hope I’ve not bored you to tears with this extremely long comment 😬 ✌🏼💙🎣🏴👍🏼 Craig 😉
Hi again it’s your new sub from Scotland I commented on your biggest catch video last night I would like to try this type of fly fishing so could you give me a little bit of advice please 🙏🏼 What length is your leader & what you use on it from the indicator to what nymphs you’d recommend I know you use eggs but I’m not sure if they would work over here although I could be wrong the rivers I fish are very similar in size and depth & lastly I only have an 8ft 4W rod will that be ok 👌🏼 thanks in advance ✌🏼💙🎣🏴👍🏼
Hi! For the leader length, I usually go with about 9feet.From the indicator, I often use a couple of feet of tippet, but it varies depending on the situation. As for nymphs, you’re right that eggs work well for me, but since you’re in Scotland, I’d suggest trying some traditional patterns like Pheasant Tail or Hare’s Ear nymphs-they’re pretty universal. And yes, your 8ft 4W rod should work fine, especially if you’re fishing smaller rivers. It might be a little light for very large fish, but it should be a good setup for most of what you’re targeting. Good luck, and tight lines! 👌🎣
In 1965 on Wickiup Reservoir in Oregon, some Oregon Fish and Wildlife workers found a large European brown trout thrashing around on the surface, apparently dying of old age. It weighed 35 pounds.
21:00 onward Congratulations m8 what an absolute stonker 😮 what a beautiful brown 😁 what do they eat in this river? 👍🏼🏴
Thank you so much!! They eat many kind of baits such as warm, mayfly, cicada, smelt, etc… In spawning season, they take egg fly😊
Aww m8 I just happened across this video & I’m not exaggerating when I tell you this is the best fly fishing video I’ve seen on here the footage is amazing seeing all those big fat trout I’m so envious that is one heck of a location it pisses over any of my 3 local rivers here in Edinburgh Scotland 🏴 I used to watch a young guy who lure fished for big trout over your way where the city is the sister city of Edinburgh the river is even named after the river here The Water of Leith. Leith is an area in Edinburgh just north of the city centre our Water of Leith runs right through the city centre & I’ve fished for just over 40 years my pb is just over 22 inches but there’s lots of families of otters all the way up the river they have decimated the wild brown population but there’s still some decent 2/3 pounders to be had but only once or twice out of every 6 sessions 🤷🏼♂️ I’ve only been out 3 times this season the weather has been so bad well for the ties id planned to go out it’s been a very bad windy summer 😢 I only got back into fly fishing last year but still not caught anything 😬 I keep reverting back to spinning using mostly Mepps but I’ve spent a shit load of money getting everything a fly fisherman needs & some but this year I’ll be lucky if I get a nice warm evening before the season ends 🤷🏼♂️ I’m looking forward to watching some of your other videos subbed as well 😉 take it easy & Tight lines 😎 ✌🏼💙🎣🏴👍🏼
Thank you so much for your kind words! It’s amazing to hear about your experience fishing in the Water of Leith, even though the otters have made things a bit challenging. It sounds like you’ve been dedicated to fishing for many years, and I hope you get that warm evening before the season ends and land a great catch! I’m glad you enjoyed the video, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the others. I’ll keep creating new videos! Tight lines and good luck out there! 🎣
Simply wonderful video and what a truly gorgeous fish.
@@JH-ck1nr Thank you so much!!😁
Amazing good video, New sub
Thank you so much!!!
Absolutely incredible
Forgot to tell you how relaxing the footage is.. No loud music ..no loud people holding a i can talk faster than you contest..no people in it trying to be cool but are not..no swearing no f words...just great.. and i do relax and unwind after watching your videos!
Arigato for your comment!! That’s exactly what I wanted people to feel by watching my videos!! I’m so happy to see your comment! I use Primal revel 6wt 9ft rod😊
Thank you vefy much for ypur kind words! Im lokking forward to your new fishing adventures!
@@HealingFishing-ce7dxthank you very much sharing this information. The Primal rods are descent rods i believe.. by the looks of it the 6 weight bends very nicely and can take a lot of big brown trout power! Thanks again. Arigato
This is really lovely to watch! Sugoi! Subscribed! May i ask what rod you are using? Primal 6wt? What series? Arigato Gozaimasu!
Chilln
Ginormous fish! great video!
Thank you so much!!!
Superb video and the fishing was just as good. Fair dues on landing that monster dude…..I’ve been in that position and lost a huge brown because it wouldn’t fit in my net…..I bought a bigger net and landed my PB in the same spot a year later!
Thank you for your comment and for sharing your story! Actually, I made the same mistake using a small net and lost a big brown trout 😂. I was surprised that you experienced the same thing! I also bought a bigger net, this was revenge for me as well. Congratulations on your PB!!
Where's this stream mate? Looks so clear.
This stream is in Rotorua NZ😃 I can’t say exact name of river sorry.
Looks like a 15lber too me. Beautiful fish. Well done 👍 🎣
Haha Thank you very much!!!😁
Seems like they were getting ready to spawn? not a jab just wondering
Thank you for your comment! I guess so too.
Really nice video with som nice fish. Wanting to Get myself a flyprodusenten cuz now i now of a lot of places to fish👍🏻
Thank you so much!!! Have a great fishing life!!
I forgot to say how much I enjoy your videos. No dumb music, no dumb commentary, just an angler’s view of the stream, with fish caught, fish lost, and lots of helpful information on flies and rigging. And you are a very skillful angler. This stream has lots of snags and tree cover and the fish are easy to spook, but you make it look effortless. Keep up the excellent work. It’s great to see this stream through someone else’s eyes.
Thank you very much for your comment! Your cheerful words have greatly motivated me!
100% agree. Too many trendy fishing (and every other genre) videos on youtube these days, trying to be like cheesy television shows, which is why I prefer youtube in the first place
Looks like a ton of fun! Have you ever tried euro nymphing? It would be very effective in a stream like this.
Thank you so much!! I haven’t tried euro, but I’m curious! I think this stream is suitable for euro too!!
That is a nice looking Brown Trout.
