I meticulously craft great days for busy people who have graduated from the DIY backpacker mode of travel, but still want to experience the real culture of a destination so that they understand that people are people no matter where they are in the world. Here is where I share videos on different destinations, practical travel tips & hacks, hotel and tour reviews, and of course good old fashioned travel inspiration. Visit me at www.traveljuliasway.com for more stories from the road, or contact me to plan your next trip!
City Spotlight: Avignon
Direct from a summer sunset on a busy bridge (apologies for the noise - I'd forgotten my mic that evening!)- here's why I think Avignon makes for a fantastic base to explore Provence. Especially those into wine and/or medieval history!
I love matching my clients with the best travel experiences so that they can discover the "je ne sais quoi" of their chosen destination. If you're interested in a trip to explore Provence, get in touch at julia@traveljuliasway.com

Hotel Review: Alila Marea Beach Resort
Переглядів 5932 роки тому
On my most recent trip to California I had the pleasure of staying at this lovely, peaceful, zen-like resort about 20 minutes north of San Diego. I loved everything about it basically, and wish I could have stayed for MUCH longer. (And taken more showers with fresh eucalyptus branches - so lovely!) I love matching my clients with the best travel products so that they discover the "je ne sais qu...
Hotel Review: Alila Napa Valley

I decided to pop up to Napa for a few days and re-visit a property that is now under the Hyatt umbrella, so take a look at my room and learn a bit more about the beautiful Alila Napa Valley. I forgot to even mention that this lovely adults-only property is just north of St. Helena, so in the heart of Napa - perfectly located for all your wine-soaked explorations. Trip Review: Royal Caribbean 5-day Cruise
Переглядів 1512 роки тому
I took a standard, 5-day Western Caribbean cruise on a large ship - and as a non-cruiser, here's what I thought about it!! I sailed with Royal Caribbean on the Mariner of the Seas out of Port Canaveral with a few friends and honestly had a blast. I had A LOT to say, so this is longer than usual, but listen in to get all the glorious details! Now, normally I tell you to contact me to book your n...
Travel Tip: Talk the Talk (a French-English dictionary for tourists)
Переглядів 1272 роки тому
It's always great to learn a LITTLE bit of the language where you're going. Even if it's just a few basics! Here are some easy phrases for you to learn to help smooth the way with the French. They aren't rude (that's an old stereotype), but they WILL appreciate you at least giving these simple sayings a try. I love helping my clients find that "je ne sais quoi" where ever they are in the world,...
Travel Tip: Airports 101
Переглядів 1232 роки тому
I've had several clients ask some basic questions and/or express that they haven't traveled in a while, so I thought I'd take the chance to do a quick "101 level" class on getting checked in as quickly and efficiently as possible. This just covers checking in and getting through security - but I hope it helps! I love matching my clients with the best travel experiences so that they discover the...
City Spotlight: Madrid!
Переглядів 822 роки тому
After several visits, I finally took the time to sit down and give you an overview of Madrid. This is a quick orientation of the city, some hotels to consider, and some things you might want to do during your visit. (Except I mis-spoke: it's El Greco who famously painted in Toledo; and I forgot to mention El Escorial, which is an AMAZING palace outside of town. See: so much to recommend Madrid!...
Ship Tour: MS Andorinha from Tauck

Recently I went on a wonderful river cruise with Tauck Tours and I wanted to give you a tour of their BEAUTIFUL ship - the MS Andorinha. This ship was set to launch in March of 2020, but with the pandemic, her debut was delayed until the summer of 2021. We were thrilled to be able to cruise on her debut season - hope you can tell how much I loved the ship! I love matching clients to the best tr...

Tune in to hear some insights about this amazing travel experience (with a little sneak peek at how beautiful the scenery is as you sail along). While I traveled with the awesome Tauck Tours, I kept this one general about the river and what you can expect. I love to match ...

"(...) given to humanity by the people of the Republic of the Seychelles" Hear, hear ! Strictly speaking, it was never given to humanity at all. Owing to the complete absence of freshwater, Aldabra is every bit as uninhabitable as the other atolls in the Outer Seychelles.
Did you post another video showing the trip? We are planning a fall trip next year down the Douro and would love to see your pictures.
I can't believe this has been going on for so long.. I am not a frequent traveler and have always booked upon arrival at hotels in the past so have never had problems. However I recently pre-paid for a two night stay in Stockholm at Scandic Hotels because I had an important meeting to attend to for my children and booked the nonrefundable room a week before arrival thinking plans were set. Then something changed with the flight and I called to move the booking one day later and the hotel refused to work with me whatsoever. On top of that even though I told them I would arrive the second night, when I finally arrived I was told the booking had been cancelled. Thankfully a room was available and they gave us check in cards, otherwise we would have been thrown out on the streets and lost our entire $600 payment! I had no idea choosing the nonrefundable option could result in not only loss of an entire payment but also having no roof over our heads whatsoever because the hotel's policy is to cancel any booking where the guest does not show up the first night. I look down on any hotel that dangles this option in front of customers. As you pointed out, even you made a mistake by selecting it. Absolutely unacceptable. I have learned Strawberry Hotels in the Nordic region is much more flexible with customers if they happen to choose to cheapest rate. I will support any hotel that does not leave customers completely stranded simply because they did not pay the extra fee up front to rebook!!
Really good assessment, my 14 days in Italy travelling across the country was less than £800 total, that includes everything. A simillar stay in Italy at an all inclusive would be over £1800. Not worth it when I did so many different things rather than sitting by the pool
Thank you for filming 😊
Tauck sounds like a very high quality cruise line. Will definitely be considering it!
The subtitles replace one of your French words... with the English word "Genocide." Pretty funny!
My neck hurts
Love this info! I thinking about a Taulk Cruise, for sure. Thank you for your info! Booking soon💕
“The main house “ called acacia house.. used to be St. Gothard's Inn, now known as the Grandview, built in 1907
Wheelchairs
Thanks so much for posting this video. We are sailing on this ship in August.
MY mom and i don't drink do they have mock drinks available?
Sandals does not allowed dinner reservations before arrival
Very helpful I am planning a 5 day cruise and you popped up on a video thank you.
Glad it was helpful - sorry it was so long!! ☺️
River cruising is all about two things: 1. where they travel and many choices per stop and 2. food on board the ship.
Got tired of all-inclusive where I have to pay extra for other peoples drinking habits.
If you were cruising from Madrid to Lisbon on the Douro, would you recommend a starboard or port cabin for the best views while in your room? Thank you!
Hi- thanks for asking. It actually does NOT matter at all! Both sides of the river are so beautiful, and you never know on which side the ship is going to dock. Besides- you'll likely spend a lot of time sailing up on deck.
Thank you, but I'd like be on the side that has the villas and vineyards, as a preference. Thus the question.
@@travelhighness6256 they're on both sides, all the way up & down the river! No side has "better" views.
@@travelhighness6256 just in case you didn’t know you go up to a certain point till you can go no further on the river, then you turn around and come back. So it doesn’t make any difference what side you’re on either one way or the other
great video
How is this video "Eastern Canada's Capitals"? The tour takes in Niagara, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City. Niagara and Montreal are not a capital cities. Ottawa (capital of Canada), Quebec City (capital of Quebec). Where are the other Eastern Canada capitals?
Is the price paid essentially all-inclusive? Flights, Meals, Hotels, Excursions, Transfers, etc? If not, what is included?
We were there in June. Really cool.
Thanks for letting me know the difference between Clear and TSA precheck! Following!
What was the name of your tote ( carry on ) bag ?
Hey June - sorry - it was just one I grabbed at Target one day. I actually have a new one that's better for bringing a laptop, but it was also a Target purchase! :)
Love this video, thanks
Antisemitic "in Hitler's day"? More like for 400 years until very recently!
Is Canada less expensive ?
Sounds great but how much is it for a family of four?
Hi Douglas- thanks for watching. Prices depend on lots of factors, and yes- the brand new resort in Canada may be slightly less expensive. I would be happy to pull a quote together for your family- shoot me an email at julia@traveljuliasway.com!
Awesome video thank you!
Went to Club Med Cancun in 1984 and the food was the highlight!
Glad you had fun
Brilliant
Great to hear of your experience in my country. Your detailed tales are everything for me. Your videos deserve a million views.
When I come back I want to explore some of the other neighborhoods!!
I love that you're already thinking about coming back!! :) Would be thrilled to help you discover even more of my favorite city.
Thank you for doing this video!! Changed my perspective on what the term luxury means. 🙌😊🎉
River cruises are full of cheapskates. All you can eat and drink for a fixed fee? Ridiculous. A magnet for fat drunks!!!
What activities are included?
They have tons, and it depends on if you bring your own equipment or not as to whether there's a fee (eg: you can rent bikes, or if you have your own, obviously you can enjoy the trails for free). It's not like an "all-inclusive" resort where they have different activities going on during the day that you just sign-up for & join in... Hope that makes sense!
amazing biodiversity and the Nature is breath taking
Just returned from the seven day round trip, all inclusive drinks, tips, excursions and travel insurance with door to door travel. It was brilliant shop around the different tour companies for the best price. The ships are owned by the same company that owns the coaches and a hotel in Porto. Douro Azul
Interesting video with info regarding Porto, although a friendly tip by a fellow tour guide. It’s really exhausting watching almost a 10min video of someone constantly talking about a destination without showing any other content of the destination you’re talking about. Like that the video would be more attractive, engaging and by far more interactive!
Exhausting? 😂 Sitting watching a video for ten minutes? Vocabulary might need extending or try working a 12 hour shift 😅
As a Ugandan, I approve of your inform....thanks for the tour
We are going to Ireland and Scotland in a few months. Looking forward to finding some our my ancestor history spots. Thanks for doing a video. :)
Fantastic to hear! I really loved connecting to my history and hope y'all do to. If you need any help - please don't hesitate to reach out!
Thanks for the info :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Julia-Enjoyed, you did incredible , ✨
What brand is your black tote bag please?
Hi - thanks for asking! I actually got that tote at Target a few years ago for an Africa trip - it's actually a dark blue denim fabric and nothing particularly special, but it has proved super useful!
Hablas español?
Looks amazing!!!
It really is a special place!!
Thank you! Enjoyed your review. I’ve watched many and you were the first to mention what wasn’t included in the price.
Please listen to Julia. Hotel gotta be heartless because is the nature of their business. Beside, as a front desk, I have heard every lie in the book. Check hotels policy before booking always!
Apparently King Kabalega of Bunyoro gave this land to Mr.Price ( forgive me I forget his title). Great video, I have to visit next time I'm in Tooro
