Carry a box of matches. It’ll work every time. Even the Coleman lanterns that have the piezo igniters are Finicky at best. I personally think they’re more of a marketing gimmick. Also, with a number of these propane lanterns, the gas comes out around the top of the mantle and the igniters are at the bottom of the mantle. You pretty much have to open the valve all the way and then brace for the jolt of the poof from the ignition of the globe filled with propane. It’s just not a great design in my opinion. I always turn the gas on and stick a lit match into the top of the globe by the mantle. Work like a charm every time. Cheers.
