    ¿Is it safe to shoot .22 WMR in a Flobert 6 mm revolver (Iver-Johson circa 1900?) with adapted both firing mechanism (annular) and new barrel? ¿Will the frame, the upper breech and cylinder withstand the explosions? Many thanks. Roberto from Argentina.

    Oh I'm sorry, but this was almost painful to watch. So many errors, but all turned out well in the end. You are to be congratulated for not using force! A part may need fiddling to get it in place but if it needs force you're making a mistake. But please leave the hardware store screwdrivers in the garage! Get a set of gunsmith ones from Brownells or Midwayusa... they aren't expensive and will save many a screw slot.

    I have the same model and when I took the hammer out there was a small spring in the hole that was closed. (As opposed to the hole that partially open). Is that supposed to be there? I couldn’t tell if there was one in yours.

    One day, the hand spring on mine broke. So i took off the side plate to replace it. Took out the old hand with broken spring and was waiting for my replacement hand with spring to arrive. Before I got it, I managed to shear off the stud that the hammer goes on! (Probably from me dry firing with the side plate off). I bought a replacement for that, its called the "Hammer Stud", and the replacement I got looks identical to the original. My problem is that I cant figure out how to remove the remnants of the old stud to put the new one in. The part that sheared off of the stud is just the cylindrical part that the hammer slides onto. The part that has two sorta holes on top and bottom is still in the frame. I'd imagine maybe S&W had some proprietary tool they used back in the day for installing that part but I haven't been able to find any info on how to get out the old broken piece and put on the new replacement piece (Hammer Stud). So just figured I'd try my luck and ask here as well. Its so unfortunate having a gun that is rendered useless due to 2 small, cheap parts... and one of those parts (the Hand Spring that started this whole mess) is very simple/straightforward to replace! Moral of the Story: NEVER DRY FIRE a S&W Safety Hammerless with the side plate off!!!!!!!!!!! Anyhow, I enjoyed the video, seems very helpful and detailed. Thank you for uploading it for us collectors/enthusiasts!

    Thanks for taking that one down. I have the .38 short cal. one just like that. My cylinder turn almost freely, it not locking solid and has a little play to it. The spring on the catch at the bottom of the frame is not strong enough to lock the cylinder in place. Do you think these would shoot a modern day .38 short or stick with black powder?

    Hey do you know what spring returns the trigger? My gun’s trigger will return 90% of the way but I have to give it a little push from the rear to get it to CLICK in the fully reset position so the hammer will work. Any idea if it’s that first spring or the last one you pulled out?

    How do you replace the firing pin spring? The part is shown on the schematic on Numrich's webpage but I can't figure out how you get the firing pin out to replace it.

    Sir, I have a H&R model 999 22LR I purchased in the early 70’s. I’m now having an issue where the extractor won’t seat back down onto the cylinder when closing the barrel assembly for firing. The extractor goes halfway down and stops. If I remove the cylinder catch spring and try again, everything works just fine, with me holding the cylinder in place of course. I’ve cleaned this gun carefully and can’t imagine dirt or fouling is a culprit. The extractor seems to operate on a cam in the hinge assembly. To check the hinge assembly for a problem I removed the small bolt and then tried to remove the hinge pin with light tapping using a pin punch, but to no avail. I’m not having any luck resolving why the extractor no longer seats completely. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    • @jeffwilson4972
      @jeffwilson4972 4 роки тому

      Forgot to mention this problem occurs with both new catch springs as well as the original one. Seems like the cylinder catch spring is the culprit, but is a mystery to me as to why.

    • @michaelpriest6242
      @michaelpriest6242 2 роки тому

      In the hinge there is a disk with an eccentric cam which needs to be right-side-up and rotated properly. Also, in the pivot point of the disk there is supposed to be a spring. It is often broken.

    • @michaelpriest6242
      @michaelpriest6242 2 роки тому

      Its removal is at about 5:45-5:55 in this video.
