Why is it that I shoot really well in the very beginning then start missing a lot? Very frustrating.
@lauramccann3993 Hi Laura! Great question! It comes down to a mix focus and being present with the anchor of acceptance. Here's a podcast on these ideas ua-cam.com/video/u62w4gTxbL0/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared I have many more podcast and videos on training, competing and the mental game on our Patreon page. The Patreon also has tons of PDF layouts with video explanations for both big table 9 ball and bartable 8 ball www.patreon.com/c/slatebilliardclub/posts 🤗 Joshy
Always appreciate your insight. Thanks
At about 1:42, you talk about how Nancy's shot choices were an error even if she makes it because she made it harder for herself. I'm familiar with the specific error she made here, but I do tend to notice a little too late that I've made the runout harder than it needed to be. Is that something that I just have to play enough games to start to see the issues or is there a rabbit hole I need to go down? I've already watched a lot of the "top position play principles" stuff it just hasn't really clicked.
www.patreon.com/collection/755306?view=expanded Here is a collection of 5 runout principles with PDF layouts and video explanations It's availble through our Patreon for individual purchase, but it's included for free under our monthly subscription ($20/mo) This will teach you how to analyze and play patterns effectively I have a free UA-cam video where I ran 11/15 racks using these principles (I barely hit a ball hard or touched another ball unless intended)
714 Fargo is crazy work. I hope to be at your level some day. Glad to know I have been trying to do things correctly since I started playing a year ago. I see people who are at 600 doing that crazy jerking pre shot routine. Always seemed illogical when you are trying to be precise. Then you got those people who do that weird swoop at the end of their stroke. I can only imagine how many balls they had to hit to compensate for flaws like that.
10 ball first. The 6 ball went more than 90°, behind the cue ball tangent line.
For shape on the 9 did you use high or low inside? Nvm looks like just inside
Center-ish high-ish inside😊
How do you know how much spin you need before you shoot? I always use max side 70% of the time
@@elizium5014 I use thickness to determine angle and speed first. Then I sprinkle in spin to add or reduce angle and or speed
Whoa - how tf is it level 😂
Gyroscope?
Nah she’s good man I know for sure she smoked you
Tell Joe to shoot the 10 ball into the 5 for a side pocket shot.
That's exactly what I told him to do😂 this was the result😮
I like this. Because it is the better route even though it goes against the common wisdom of doing one side of the table and then doing the other side because the two stripes and the eight ball lay weird to get position from the other side of the table.
@fire9132 💯 I watch a ton of amateur 8 ball and I see this and other trouble pattern plays a bunch. I have a Patreon series with 20 run out pattern videos going over layouts with 10-20 min explanations and examples of "What Can Go Wrong" www.patreon.com/c/slatebilliardclub/posts
6ball
10 ball first. The 6 ball went more than 90°, behind the cue ball tangent line. Looks like a 95° cut.
So cool 😎
Thanks very much for the video. I really appreciate your approach I immediately subscribed to your station. I have one problem that keeps popping up in the draw practice routine and that is sometimes I get in a streak where I am popping up the cue ball. Is there one primary cause for this? After watching this lesson, I'm guessing that my cue level is not flat enough, am I right !
@rjf1877 a little angle down is no problem. More of what your experiencing is likely being too quick to get the tip low. Try hitting a softer draw with keeping the tip on the cueball as long as possible and following through as far as possible (exaggerated at first is fine) with finishing the tip in the table well past the cueball. Make sense? Lemme know how it goes!!
Problem that keeps "popping up" I see you😂
Thanks so much for your quick reply ! "KEEP THE TIP IN THE BALL AS LONG AS POSSIBLE" , it worked perfectly, thanks so much.

This style of video with beginner players is awesome! Just what I need to learn and get better at my game. A lot of lesson videos don’t take into account whats possible with the skill level of the player and always provide the “advanced route” instead of whats possible given the players skillset. Hoping for many more of these style videos!
@HeroiikzRL awesome!! This is gping to be a weekly series featuring beginner to advanced players Im always going to strive to make suggestions on possible strategies based on skill level I have an imaginary post it note in my head that says "beginner/intermediate/advanced" so I don't forget🤪

I LOVE the stay cool Honey bunny quote
At 18:00, I dunno if it's camera paralax making it look like this is dead on when it's not, bur from I can see, she should have just done a full ball hit stop shot on the 4 for a lock up safety on the 7, then probably taken ball in hand because there's no easy way out of that one.
Your novice students will hit one of those draw by the end of the night on a 9 foot diamond? You’re an amazing coach then my guy ❤️❤️

I like to say that pool is just like chess except that you have to toss the pieces and hope they land on the correct square.
Following the match and watching the stream, it was easy to want to focus on what did not go well with both my decisions regarding positioning and execution of shots. This thinking could lead me into a results focused mindset which could take out the pure enjoyment of playing pool. Instead, after watching it through a second time, I realize what a great learning opportunity this is to help me grow my game/skills while enjoying the process. I can see it as a positive experience……….so appreciative to have the chance for play by play analysis by one of the best players and instructors around the game. Thanks Josh, you make learning and playing pool an amazing experience!
Love this video and great commentary! I found this very helpful as an intermediate player. Would love to see this become an ongoing series.

Nice would definitely hit a low right stun for this shot, that roll into the line instead of crossing the line position can definitely be counter intuitive some times, so that’s some good pool wisdom right there thanks.
Wow stance looks really good and that was a great stroke, if you wanna know if your stance is good your chin should be about 6 inches from the joint minimum and your right forearm should point to the ground in front of your right foot or in between both legs, but also be natural and find out what works for you I just analyzed a good amount of pros and there’s seems to be a pattern like this.
You said break cue but continues to run out with it lol

Makes sense especially because of the composition needed aka you probably have to hit the ball thicker or thiner which will actually change the tangent line and mess up position all together but instead just take the close to your work or get creative and like bump the ball or something or be a pro and play three rails😂
That’s me stunning to hard with the rattle sometimes or slow rolling the ball trying to hold position missing it thick, so good advice here.
She hit it good.....👍
