Beautiful job, and beautiful video. Thanks for sharing.
Wow what a beauty! Love this project. Fantastic video
Sublime. 💛💜💛
The people who are the most different are the most interesting. Don't ruin yourself by trying to fit in. The secret to success is sincerity once you can fake that you've got it made.
The birdhouse is really beautiful and a fantastic piece of carpentry. What I don't like so much is the thin wood. For the chicks (cave nesters) it is important that there is always a fairly constant temperature in the nest, neither too warm nor too cold. In nature, this results from the relatively thick walls of the nest. When we humans build a nest, we have to be careful to create similar conditions. Interior size, size of the entrance hole, and also the insulation. Given their design, this could be solved by inserting a simple box made of untreated, local wood inside. The box can also be a little rough on the inside on the entry wall, this gives the claws a little better grip. You also have to be careful with paint and glue. Much of it is highly toxic to animals. Some birds still peck at the opening because they don't like something yet and most birds often rub their beaks on the outside of the wall to shake off leftover food. Toxic components of the paint are absorbed. The best colors are that are also suitable for babies, so you can't go wrong with them.
Очень красиво, но ветром сдует.
To extend those notches combine your pull saw to cut the sides and a multitool to trim the wood it wood have taken you just a few minutes
This has to be one of the most beautiful birdhouses I've ever seen!
Beautiful! you and the birdhouse
How does this not have more views.
this is great, thanks! magpie's are jerks too haha. loved that you included the design process too
You say , “voila” like a native French speaker.
Clara, nice design, and yeah... take a moment or two to observe those bluejays... they're d**kheads. I don't have a fun fact for you, but I'll applaud your use of the toothpicks as dowels. I've done similar using bamboo skewers you find at [fill in a name] supermarket. They fit perfectly in a 1/8th hole tho they're likely metric, so you can glue the snot outta them. Also, they come in the skinny size as well as bbq-gauge. They're nice and long, too. Recommend getting a pair of nippers rather than trying to saw them or boxcutter them... much faster.
Thanks for making us this cozy little wooden cave for all our webs and eggs. Sincerely, The spiders
The project is great, and as always what you do is informative and interesting to watch. But this time I was struct by something you've probably never heard before. Your penmanship is really beautiful. I went to Catholic School from 1st through 6th grade😎😎 and let me tell you...the Nuns would have loved it. They were very big on penmanship, and yours it really artistic and easily readable.
That's such a cool looking bird house
As a drummer, I love watching luthier videos! Love the intricacies and the geometry in some.
immediate subscribe. this is exactly what I have been looking for. recently decided I wanted to make a Free Little Library in a similar style. this gave me some motivation to get started. amazing build.
Wooow what’s the measurements?
Those details though....👀 Very aesthetically pleasing too!
😁😁😁 Thank you so much!! 🙏🙏🙏
How would it handle hardwoods?
You should check out my birdhouse build :-)
Great content and great woodworker/designer. The content stands on its own. I would skip the festool sponorship/partnership or else you will eventually just become like every other woodworking channel out there. Be different.
Thank you so much :-) I understand where you’re coming from - something I’ve learned about myself is that I can only exist being me. I suffocate under strict needs of content being produced and therefore I am light on who I partner with and need ample, if not total freedom on what I want to say and do. Regardless of what partnership I may take on, I’m confident I’ll only find me as me - I don’t wish to “be like” any other channel nor do I think I’ll ever want to be. Different or same, I’m sure we will overlap in some ways. But there will only be one version of the Clara Kim you see here on this channel… and I guess the Earth :-)
You built dollhouse furniture. Won't survive a single winter outside.
Thank you, Herbie Bancock - Even if it doesn’t survive, I built something I’m proud of and I’m excited to see what happens.
I bet it will, with all that nasty tar and PU stuff on it. 😕 I varnished my birdhouse years ago with a water-based wood stain, and it's held up pretty well (northern Europe).
That’s pretty awesome :-) What stain did you use?
@@ClarasWoodshop The stain is from a company called “Akzo Nobel” and the product should translate as something like “Xyladecor Wood Protection Stain Plus”. I applied two or three coats, I can't remember exactly. I doubt it's available in the States as I checked on Amazon. The company is based in Cologne, Germany. I wanted to use something less toxic so the animals wouldn't be harmed unnecessarily if they were to gnaw on the wood. To ensure this even better, I later treated a squirrel feeder and a hedgehog hotel with a real ecological product from a company called "Auro". They have colored glazes and I applied three coats. The durability will now have to be seen over the next few years. As you can see, I try to be careful with nature. That's why I'd be glad if you didn't spray artificial varnishes outside in future, like in the video here.
Of course - Thank you for sharing and I appreciate your input :-)
Looks really good.
I love making birdhouses and birdfeeders! And I've been wanting to make a pagoda style roof for one of them. Also planning on making one with a Pizza Hut roof lol
Pizza Hut!!! I would just be hungry the whole time 😁 Would love to see it though!!
Nice I like it🤗
Thank you so much!! 🙏🙏🙏
My biggest motivator for clicking on this video is I was soooooo SURE you were going to use traditional Japanese joinery for doing that roof and wanted to see how you were going to achieve that at a tiny scale without breaking any of the intricate mortises lol. Looks awesome.
Quedo hermosa, me encanto!
Thank you so much!! 🙏🙏🙏
I didn't think I'd be adding a bird house to the list of projects I want to do, but this has inspired me. Amazing project and phenomenal craftsmanship!
Thank you so much!! 🙏🙏🙏 And yesss! Do ittt! There’s so much to the world of birdhouses that I don’t even know or understand yet :-)
And again a beautiful build from a beautiful builder 😉 Thx for sharing 👍
Of course! And thank you for appreciating it! 😁🙌
The bird house is beautiful. I hope that you post an update showing Blue Jays using this amazing home. I am looking forware to the Festool saw video.
I will definitely post an update if the Blue Jays use it 😁😁
@@ClarasWoodshopYou'll need some luck as blue jays are generally stubborn about nesting in trees. I build peanut feeders to attract them instead. If you feed them shelled peanuts daily on a schedule, they will wait for you.
The term "corn" used to refer to any grain. This has been your English Language History second
😱😱😱😱
Nice job Clara!!! Even if it is for those pesky Blue Jays!!! 😂
This is one beautiful Birdhouse with an amazing craftsmanship! I'm still bewildered that you don't have a higher subscriber count with all the production quality you achieve with each video.
Thank you so much! I’m thinking I just gotta trust the process 😁 Until then, I’m really happy that the people who do see it have been really kind and awesome 🙏🙏🙏
Beautiful project! The attention to detail is 🤌
😁😁😁😁 Thank you so much!!!
Wow it looks Amazing!!! You definitely have the talent and passion and it shows in your work!!! Peace
Ahhh, thank you so much, Vincent!!
Amazing project! It looks so so good, also so cool to learn about a new species of wood I haven’t come across before in any other woodworking videos or in my local hardwood store!!
Thank you so much for appreciating it!!! And it’s always fun to work with a new species! Definitely check out IPE if you get a chance! Beautiful species :-)
👍🏻👍🏻❣️❤️
😁😁😁😁
This bird house is soooo good!!! Clara is super talented!!! Big up to the editor!!! Really good video
Ahhhhh, thank you so much! Don says thank you too!!! 😁😁😁🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for the video, pretty fun and entertaining while showcasing your great skills.
Thank you for appreciating it! My partner and I both put just as much time into the video as we did the build!! 🙏🙏🙏
21:20 Corn is also a fruit
I thought it was a grain 🤔
Is this for bluejays or bluebirds?
Blue Jays :-)
Thank you for seeing your video again.
😁😁😁 Thank you for appreciating it - Can’t wait to do more :-)
That’s one hell of a multigenerational birdhouse 👏 You’re going to see the birds start bowing to each other flying in and out if there soon 🤣
🤣🤣🤣 That would be so funny and cute. From the side, I would be giving them a smile of approval if I saw that 😂
Great build! I really enjoy hearing your thoughts, explanations, humour and occasional random facts throughout the video. I wish I had a fact which “shook me to the core” to share. There have been many over the years, but of course, when I have a chance to share I can’t think of any 😅 Btw- Nature can be beautiful but also brutal. I wouldn’t worry about the bluejay’s behaviour- it’s just behaving as it has evolved to do & I don’t think we can judge it by our own, human morals.
100% agree with your thoughts on nature :-) There’s no way we can judge that. And thank you! This video took a lot of work and hearing that you appreciated those thoughts gives me a lot of motivation 😁😁😁 Thank you again and can’t wait to hear your shocking revelations in the future!
Delightfully over-engenered
🤣🤣🤣 Exactly how it felt to make it!
You forgot the FOR RENT sign. LOL! I am amazed at your patience and attention to detail. A very enjoyable project to watch.
🤣🤣🤣 That’s such a good idea!! How will they know if I don’t put the sign up? :-P
*THE BIRDHOUSE* is absolutely spectacular. The base looks like it might not work long-term. Maybe too much top-heavy weight? I'd love to see the house hanging or mounted in a tree - even though it might not be the centrepiece it deserves to be then, it would take on more of a harmonious aspect with nature. And along those lines, I'd even like to see it in a few year's time when the elements and some generations of birds have weathered it a bit too.
Yeah, I also think the base is a little weak 😂 I’ll be adjusting it and tweaking it but I wanted to at least get the video out first of the build :-) I absolutely love the idea of showing it weathered - Can’t wait to see what life has in store for it!
That is a stunning birdhouse. Beautiful style. Your attention to detail is inspiring. I am no expert, but I would have thought it advisable to have a few dowels inside fir the birds to perch on and maybe even one outside under the hole so they can land on it and then climb through the hole. As I said I. Jif an expert so everyone should feel free to correct me, if I'm wrong.
Oh I’m definitely no bird expert either :-) It’ll be lovely to see what happens and make adjustments from observations! Will definitely take note of what you mentioned!
