I love how relaxed she looks. You sound very much like my internal monologue after a ride. I try to stop myself and take stock of things: I love my horse and we will improve day by day, so no need to be mean to myself. You do have lessons planned which is fabulous as you can hand over that responsibility for what-when-how and enjoy the learning. ❤

Hey Shelley now you have a nice calm Pea and yourself may I make a suggestion? If you shorten your stirrups slightly you will have more contact on her sides so can give a better squeeze instead of niggling kicks, and I still believe a running martingale may help, Evie will probably tell you I'm talking sh# t, but it is just an observation, that walk will get you big marks in your test, she is a damn good, free moving lady, it's only early days so keep doing what you are 🎉🎉xx

Please don't be so self critical, you are work in progress. Everyone has bad days and I think when you have someone filming you, that it can add pressure for you, because you want it to all go right. Well done 😊

Shelly, we ALL have those days my friend ... plus it is winter so kudos for even getting out there. I have lots of days like this if I even conquer the excuses to work my horses. :( I enjoy watching you doing it anyway so find those good points like her walk (and that you even got her back!) WELL DONE. Horses are not easy or perfect. They certainly have days, too!

Really enjoy watching your vlogs..it’s so relatable to me. I also am a child of the 80’s from a non horsey family. I live in north Lincolnshire so not far from me. I also have my eye on winters as a goal with my 7 year old ISH who is VERY green. I took him on 3 years ago who had had a very traumatic past and you couldn’t even touch him. It’s been a very rocky road me loosing confidence many times and this year I am determined to enjoy him 🙈 and try like you to do a 1 day event. It was honestly like hearing myself in my head watching this video

I'm hopeful that my horse will end his early retirement and work again. My bones say that 2025 will be a great year for you and Pea. Edited to add that I'm buzzed that you are having lessons with Evie.

This is definitely my favorite type of video. Glad everything is going so well for you! I also just wanted to add a tip for rhythm and being more forward: find music that has the pace you are wanting and create a riding play list. I found this really helped me get the trot I was looking for as you can encourage the horse more forward to match beat of music. Or I have heard some people use a metronome app.
