I saw them in Japan on their final tour in '95, and it was amazing. They started with the theme 'Durango '95,' and the familiar setlist was so much fun. When Joey passed away in 2001, I was living in New York, and it was reported prominently in the newspapers. Time feels like it goes by so quickly.

They are a great punk rock cover band and they use other punk songs randomly in them, like one of their songs opens with a Ramones riff and turns into something else. Start with the song Sloop John B which has a Ramones intro.

The Clash Alwais tell the history that when first toured u.s.a. The Crickets were on every jukebox and loved the song.The Clash like the original punk rock was roots rnr but the Clash a bit to far with the adoration of rock and roll estetic .Not only suede shoes and tupees.The Rebel attittude of rockers and all kinds of parafernalia from cadillacks to billiards to jukeboxe machines , motorbikes ,cigarret smoking , rebel without a cause kind of facial expresions etc etc...they where big fans of Jhonny cash and the title london calling is in same colors of the first Elvis record.Inumerable alusions.Brand new cadillack, Wrong em bollo etc.. Are heavily rock and roll influenced songs.At the same time they where eclectic to the limit and take Lots from ska to reggae,jazz ,funk,Disco or Hip Hop. In my opinión that was so punk attittude .After two crucial punk records ( the Clash , Give em enough rope) they open musicaly being free like a punk got to be even pissing the more conservative audiences.My dad got me into Clash show in 81 with 4 years.The only band that matters. I was at a Ramones show with 15 and sex pistols with 27.see The Damned more times that i can remember and i was at Greenday pre fame show in a litle squat in the Basque Country.Less than 2 dollars.They come in an old broke van with old clothes and Billye Joe had dreadlocks.They look more crass than the popular GD .The bass player got an MDC shirt and brocken shoes so for me GD got the road and integrity of a punk rock band.Thanx.Enjoy._ uck - ump,
