My “Uncle Dickie” was a quadriplegic and I remember struggling a little to understand what he WAS able to do because it seemed so much different from my Grandmother being a paraplegic. But we already knew the basics of love, dignity and respect. Like not staring, not speaking in a patronizing manner, not assuming that they “can’t” do, see, smell, hear, understand, speak etc. I also remember having so much respect for him because I felt that it was heroic for him to wake up and face the world everyday and not give in to depression or allow anyone else’s opinion to lead his life! ♥️ So, #Respect to you as well King @AdversityShope

Yes Sir!!! My maternal grandmother was wheelchair bound my entire life. I grew up seeing her transport herself until she no longer could do so on here own. She DROVE us EVERYWHERE!!! She only bought Cadillacs 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏾♀️😂😂😂 And she was a fully functioning Strong Black Woman!!! She was just paralyzed from the waist down. In our family, we all know how to treat others with RESPECT no matter the differences or disability! Thanks for sharing your guidance and explaining what NOT TO DO... for those who might mean well but are actually CLUELESS 🤷🏽♀️
