Putting the batteries through their paces
Enjoyed your videos Craig. I've gotta say you are a doppelganger of my uncle back in US. For years he would drive solo from New Mexico to Alaska to salmon fish. Pointing out unique things and sites along the way. Keep em coming!
Lovely vid and great country, I will get there one day. Thanks Craig for sharing.
Thanks Mate
In Australia this is called a 'willy willy' 🌪
awesome video old mate.. your videography and the lads editing is getting pretty darn good. love that red country hey.
Thanks Old Fellow, Ok is it that's good, Id have more footage but our GoPro 7 black keeps overheating so can only film for sort time, Yes Gavin is awesome at it .Yes should be good country that red soil.
Love your vids. Where's the next bit adventure to
Thanks Jarrod, Down the Tanami to the Crater and on to Alice, then the Plenty and work my way home,
Lovely ep and lovely fish Tonk, I bet the Tanami was a fun drive!
Thank Master T, Yes was a awesome run down thought there and the plenty,
another great video, keep them coming.
Thank you
I’ve been waiting for this one. Carney was talking about you the other night. Good stuff.
Thanks Craig, That's great the old fellow mentioned me. it was lovely of him to do that, I love watching his channel, My channel is not as polished as Andy's , I tried to get him to met me up at McGowans in WA and come fishing with me but he was to busy doing NT things, oh well that's life maybe another day.
Lovely out put in that panel mate, that makes my 200 watt blankets like toy's, keep up the great vids Tonk!
Thanks Mate , yes its a rippy hay both lithiums are full by 10am
So does this mean you won't need to take the extra panels on your trips? Probably a bit strange to ask, but could you do a video on the basic foods you take for one of your 4-5 week trips to these isolated areas. Love your shows great to watch the places , I'll never get to now plus the ongoing information and ideas. Like you,not everybody can just duck down to ironman or who ever and buy the latest gear and have it fitted to the new truck.
Hi Malcolm thanks for watching and commenting, The panel on the 80 is mainly just to charge the batteries when in the back of the 80, But if I had days of cloudy weather and thick smoke from the TOs control burning up north yes I would use the new panel as well, Ok I will do a Ep on food I take and how I pack it and maybe combine it with a few other things. Thats right hey I try and get the most out of everything by rebuilding it or making it better,
Fantastic Craig hopefully it will keep the power up to the batteries thanks for sharing this with us 👍🇦🇺
Thanks Terry, Yes me to. I have a 20 amp dcdc as well, it just runs a couple fridges in the 4wd.
She's a beauty old mate. I had to sika some ribs under my 250s to stop them flexing and breaking the glass on the roads so i hope yours does ok. just a couple bits of ally angle glued under to stop it flexin..Gees thats great output but hey.. keep us posted how it goes please mate
Thanks Old fellow, Ok I will keep a eye on it. Mark has had his one on his Ranger for long time with no dramas, Ok I will do, Yes pumps out the Amps,
Hope i doesn't crack on you mate, that is a big sheet of glass. Norm and Ros got to KAB 2 weeks ago.
Me to, I think there two sheets of 2mm glass one top one on the bottom, Ok glad they got back there lovely people there are,
Dog's balls on a cat. 🤣
Top video Craig !!!
Thanks Mate
Good to see the Kings fridge is going well I didn’t think it would keep up with the Trailblaza
Sorry for late reply I been away for a week, Yes its going well I am not saying it will last as long as the Trailblazer at all, but man its so light compared to the 100lt I got,
great stuff old mate..What a trip you had..wheres the next adventure? i reckon i could happily camp amongst the toyotas hey..
Thanks Old fellow. Yes I had a ball hey, yes so many Toyotas there was awesome. There's a few more Eps yet, Before I get home. Maybe head up the Gulf next year if I get away it will be later after the June July School holidays.
Another cracker vid Tonk! Keep em coming. Cheers mate
I love your basic no frills videos. Could you do a video of what you take on a trip like that gear, food etc and a rough cost
Thanks Tully, I have done a few vids on Gear I take and spares and tucker I take away on trips, My cape trip Cost me around $3200 for diesel for the 4wd and petrol for outboard, and tucker, and Bait, My Kimbeley trip cost me around, $5300 for diesel and petrol and food and bait and a cast net and cost of were I stayed at McGowans. I do not drink or smoke,
@@craigtomkinson2837 Thank you for that. I'll go back and check your other videos.
@@tullysika If you can not find them I will do another one

@@JarrodCardno Yes Only way to knock them big ks down hey. thanks for watching and commenting.
We loved the content ❤
Thanks cus
Loving your work here mate. What speed are siting on when on the bitumen?
Thanks Craig, I sit on 100 on the flat roads which is around 93 to 95ks. then in the hilly country whatever the old girl tows the boat over it at.
@@craigtomkinson2837 1HZ? What’s your boat weigh? Cheers mate.
@@craighosie8161 Yep 1HZ n/a, Boat on the trailer loaded is around 1300kg and once full of fuel and some water right on 1,5ton or close, I should get a GVM upgrade done on the trailer to take it to 2ton as it got all toyota running gear with disc brakes
Mate, good info. I to have a 1HZ n/a with 1.5 tonne boat. Look forward to the rest of the series and more of Tonks Tips. Stay safe mate!
@@craighosie8161 Thanks Mate, Yes Tonks Tips are rough and ready like me, as you know the 1HZ is slow and steady but so reliable, Its why I love the old 80 so comfy and reliable, On flat goutry with a good wind up the ass of the old girl I think I get around 16lts per hundred and on reel hilly stuff around 19 to 20 lts per hundred so I say around 18lts per 100 is average towing our tinny hows yours on fuel,
Lovely trip so far, can't wait for the fishing!
Thanks mate. maybe next ep Haha
Good stuff tonk will be looking forward to the next one.
Thanks trent
👍
Tomkinson. how are you?-this is outstanding trip, ciao-💪
Thanks, It was
Sump oil on the shovel every time you take a dump you'd come back with black hand lol
Hi Nic thanks for your comment , yes that happens a bit but I wash my hands and have Baby wipes to clean then too. But it stops the handle drying out and the timber splitting
Great videos, how much food do you take for a 3 week trip?
Thanks Tully. Up at Penny I have around a weeks worth with me when I drive up incase I break down somewhere , But once there after a week or so I go back to Weipa and restock at woolies its around 1 hour 15 minutes drive to Weipa
Great stuff Tonk don’t stop doing it the way you are. It’s tops and real genuine the way it’s supposed to be.
Thanks Trent I try to keep it reel
I noticed you don't use fishing rods, do you think the hand lines are better?
Hi Tully. Thanks for your comment, In the shallow water say 6 to 20m yes I can pull the fish up lots quicker, and there no moving parts so no brake downs with my gear,
Lovely vid and lovely trip your doing ya bugger! Might need to adjust your door strikers on the old girl. Looking forward to the next vid mate.
Thanks mate, yes i tried to but on the 80s they do not move so they end up in the same spot, but you mite know there secrete I hope,
We also have a Jayco Dove, where do you all sleep?
Hi Tully, The van can sleep 7 essy, as its got 3 double beds, and one single bed, I sleep on the single bed, My wife and daughter sleep in one double and our three sons take it interns sleeping either twogether oor in one bed
My kind of camping and fishing
Thanks Tully. Yes Me to just love simple
Ol school... love it... keep up your footage absolutely enjoying it 😊😊
Thank you . its all I know is old school
@craigtomkinson2837 yep it's all I know also. Don't fix something that ain't broken 😊😊
Love ya work Tomki 🍺
Thanks
The catfish gave us a lot of problems as well
Yes there is some big sucker up there,
We had problems with the sharks last October Ended up going down the coast back towards Weipa about 20 klms and just kept moving only getting a couple of fish off each hang Seemed to work Think they hang around places that get fished often
Yes true, But the sharks were from 15ks south to 30ks north on every lumb and spot from close in to a k or two off land, wort Id seem them, But the 10 to 12ks stuff offshore there were none , but rough going,
Awesome video and inspiring to people on all budgets, I especially like the way you make the dollar your dollar stretch and make it work while still having the creature comforts and having a good time along the way. Well Done !!!!
Thanks Brian, Yes I Am frugal that is for sure most places I go. I have one of the cheapest set ups, among all the flash ones, especially up at McGowans but as you say I still have a great time.
KINGS are shit Old Timer, stick with Trailblazer. Simply by far the best fridge on the market. I know because I have an 80 ltr that hasn't missed a beat in 27 years sitting on the back of my ute in rain hail , bulldust and sun living in Cape York aswell as The Gulf of Carpentaria. Don't waste ya money on Kings Crap Fella.
Thanks Steve for that advise, Yes the Trailblazer are good mine was left to me by my dad it would be around the same age as yours, but there to heavy for me once its full of filits Haha, you need 3 or 4 bloke to load it in the 80 series, The Kings is just to replace a upright fridge that buggered up after many years, and for $250 delivered to my door with two year warranty its going well I sorted it out on the Kimberley trip. I set it on Max and it run unreel, Time will tell how good it is if I get 5 or 6 years out of it I be happy. Tonk
