The second day along the regional connector trail took us north to Genesse. We explored several areas, including crossing over the PA/NY border. Then, we made our way back down through Coudersport and ended in the Susquehannock ATV Trail system.

Our first time riding the Northcentral Regional ATV Trail in Potter and Tioga counties. We rode over 90 miles today, visited the PA Grand Canyon, and rode out to Lyman Run State Park. Absolutely incredible views and amazing riding. This connector trail connects 3 state forest ATV trail systems and provides over 600 miles of riding. What a dream!

Today we finally got to meet up with our new friends Dave and Jeanette to ride for the first time. We spent the day at Sideling Hill ATV Trails in Wells Tannery, PA. We really enjoyed the day and the weather was beautiful. The trail system is 15 miles of forest roads and wooded trails. Don't let that fool you - it's still a full day of riding. We're back at Martin Hill for the first time in 2024. Beautiful day of riding with just a few hiccups along the trail, including some rocky, washout areas that forced us to turn around a couple times. While DCNR is clearly doing some nice maintenance on sections of the trail, other sections still definitely need some work! Despite - we still enjoyed the ride!

Our second day on the Tug Hill took us from Rector to Barnes Corner and through New Boston, NY. It was a beautiful ride through the county with really great seasonal roads that took us through various small towns. The video does not do the beauty of the countryside justice! I could live here for sure! Today we did about 60 miles for a 2-day total of about 130 miles!

Spent a few hours at Michaux today. Lots of people getting out enjoying the warmer weather. Trails were generally in good condition, not too much dust either. One trail had a large tree down that we could not get around. We didn't have a saw so we had to turn around. Other than that, a great time on the trails.

There is a saying back home, "It always snows on Orthodox Christmas!" ❄️🎄 Yet again, it did! Headed up to the mountains to enjoy a ride in the snow. Freezing rain last night and temperatures near 40º by the end of the ride made for some HEAVY, slushy snow. But, still a nice 4-6" across the ridge with lots of dripping ice from the trees.

    Would be nice if Pennsylvania wasn’t 15 years behind on there trail systems , no reason these trails should have a 50 “ max width . I own a KRX1000 and I have to pay for the registration and plate when I bought it but there are literally 0 state park trail systems in Pa that allow 68” wide machines

    • @hdvidclips
      @hdvidclips 2 місяці тому

      Agree! Same with the closing dates - not sure why they insist on keeping so many state forests summer only trails. Allowing side by sides and extending the riding season to fall and winter where possible would be a huge benefit. I did see some areas, such as Potter, Elk, Clinton, Bradford counties etc. are really expanding their ATV-legal roads. Large network of riding areas that connect multiple state forests so hopefully that is a clue that things are moving in the right direction. When they see the need, maybe they will adjust to reach the demand for these things.

      surprisingly, yes. wife prefers the 700 because it's a pretty low center of gravity - she feels comfortable on it ... I prefer just about everything else on the Polaris. Ride and handle is certainly much more refined on the 570 and it's much more enjoyable to ride!

    • @hdvidclips
      @hdvidclips 6 місяців тому

      @rzrpap oh wow - let's hope they move more quickly with that than the grave ridge section that has been shut down for 4 years, "temporarily." I didn't realize they had plans to expand trails/bridges! Wonderful news. Interestingly, not sure if this is related, but if you leave Big Flat parking area and turn right down the mountain, on the right-hand side there are gates up and clearing being done. It certainly looks like they are making trails but that might be wishful thinking. On the main trails, they have been doing some visible minor work! I'd have to follow someone else down all the other blue trails because it's sometimes too much for just the wife and I alone. When it's just the two of us, sometimes we worry what happens if we get in a pickle, ya know? We cautiously explore blue trails :) And likewise, we'll give you a heads-up next time we head up maybe the timing will work out to meet and do some riding, too!

    • @hdvidclips
      @hdvidclips 11 місяців тому

      They certainly have! I’m not exactly sure what the end result will be and if this is only temporary for logging & timber, or if they actually plan on capitalizing on some expansion and new trail development? I did hear something about them receiving a grant, so that could mean more maintenance on the trails, and hopefully a few new trails. Looking at the map, I can see how they could easily transform this into a nice little looping trail. Believe it or not, we still have not gone past Wertz Road yet onto the second half of the trail system where the bridges are. The wife actually had hurt her ankle and was wearing a brace so we were trying to take it easy on this ride. When we got to Trail 5 the ride up the hill looked a little steep and tipy so we turned around there. Next time though! We hope to go back again before it closes this year.
