BBC1 'Rhythm and Movement' Idents - 'Farewell Compilation' (7 Oct 2006) (upscaled to 1080p)
Переглядів 913 місяці тому
Broadcast 7 Oct 2006. To my eternal mortification, when recording this at the time, I didn't stay up (it was due to be shown at approx. 1am), and set a timer recording. I didn't allow enough end-padding, the recording ended a few seconds into the final ident, Ballet. So, a disclaimer for the purists (of which I am one) - this is edited, it is not quite as originally broadcast
THE PHOENIX AND THE CARPET (1997) - FULL SERIES RESTORATION (EXCERPTS FROM EP.1)

As a huge fan of this series, and being highly disappointed that only a heavily-edited, 4:3 cropped aspect ratio version (condensed into a 90-minute single episode) was ever commercially released, I undertook a video project to restore the six 30-minute episodes, unedited/as originally aired on BBC1 in 1997, using all my recordings from the rare broadcasts there have been of the series as sourc...

when i lived in cheltenham . i use to go in that park and i use to meet a lady and sit on that same seat.
I remember watching this as a kid , uncomfortable and confused. I think I understood what it was about but refused to accept it. Very weird but beautifully written.
What happened to the full movie. So sad
I loved this movie growing up in the 60's
RIP Micheal Ripper, the Hammer legend who was missing from this charity special. .....and RIP to all the other shows stars who have now subsequently passed away. RIP to them all.
Butterflies was one of those shows you wished had come back later in life Sadly and possibly thankfully Carla Lane never really showed any interest in bringing it back
I never understood what she saw in Leonard. He always came across as a smarmy creepy stalker.
Is there a legitimate documentary about the test cards because I was actually eager to learn about it 😂
I remember watching this with my mum, and I knew from her expression that she understood exactly how Ria felt about her life.
Ruby in 1979: "This 'ouse smells like cat pee." Ruby in 2000: "Cat's overshot it's litter tray again. It's all up the wall! Doesn't bother me, its not my 'ouse." 😂😂😂😂 I have a couple of cats like that, so I feel like Ria.
Ah at last ,been looking for this .Any body know who performed it ?
James Last - 'Morgens um Sieben' ('Mornings at Seven'). Theme music to the 1968 German film 'Morgens um Sieben ist die Welt noch in Ordnung'.
WENDY THE MATRON IN THE ROYAL I MISS BUTTERFLIES AND THE ROYAL 😢
I was a young lad when I fell in love with Ria.
Had they had a bit more of an enthusiastic host and didnt stretch it out so much, a documentary on TV test Cards could actually be appealing to the right demographic. Admittedly its a small demographic, but still
This is great! I don't think I saw this episode at the time, though I did see the original episodes right from the start back in 1978, when I was 9 years old! Although he was 8 years older than me at the time, I mainly identified with Adam (played by my almost namesake, Nicholas Lyndhurst!) As a family, we watched it and my Mum bore an uncanny resemblance to Ria/ Wendy Craig. Seeing this, they looked even more similar in their latter years! We were a family of Mum, Dad and 2 boys, too! Ben/ Geoffrey Palmer, was a bit like my Dad and Russell (Andrew Hall), slightly like my older brother! They don't make 'em like this any more! Thanks for this upload!
That is awesome! How can I please get my hand on it?
Hi. Please contact me using the details I've given at the tail-end of it
@@darrenpage8506I love this movie grown up in the 1960's walt Disney.
@@darrenpage8506How come they cut it short the movie. Sad 😢
It wasn't "Challenging" cooking, she was crap at cooking, bad, rubbish appalling.
Great video Daren. It’s David W here 👋
Sadly only Wendy and Nicholas are still with us.
I still love you, Mrs Parkinson!
Hello Darren! Your comments on the phoenix video are turned off, I was wondering if you were distributing your polished versions of the mini series.
Hi. Sorry, I've only just seen your comment here. I've enabled comments on the phoenix video. Contact me using the details shown at the tail-end of it
Geoffrey was a great sitcom actor ,he could deliver a one liner without ever changing his dead pan expression.
ok😀
I have loved this series and especially Ria from afar, being in the States. It shaped me, my look on life, and never taking anything for granted.
Bruce Montague (Leonard) died the 16th August 2022 aged 83 . R.I.P
RiP Bruce Montague aka Leonard 🙏 😢 💔
How have I never seen this! Just brilliant 😂 it’s like they’ve never been away. Especially Wendy, she is totally Ria once again
The testcard is like watching paint dry!!!
They didn't meet in a park, they met in a cafe when she flicked ash in his trifle and knocked his coffee over.
Wendy Craig.......A Dame hood should be given
Takes me right back to Sunday evenings when the world stopped and there was nothing else to do except watch this….😒😒
It was a brilliant comedy series. I use to enjoy watching it as a child and still enjoy watching it now.
The laughing during the poignancy makes me hate the human race.
From my childhood,so beautiful)
Everyone should watch the testcard
This made me happy and sad!
I was in the audience at TV Centre when this was recorded back in 2000. Ruby got the biggest cheer when she appeared, though they seem to have dubbed the volume of that cheering down considerably! They also edited out the scenes in the park in which Ria & Leonard exchage a stone and a leaf (although you can still see them holding them in later shots). I guess it was over-running and they needed to make the episode shorter. I wish I could travel back to 2000 now and sit in the audience again, with all the added age and appreciation I've gained. I would laugh ten times as hard and shed a tear for those we have since lost x
I can imagine how big that laugh was. I'd forgotten about Ruby, so when she came on it was so impactful. This was all so brilliant written and acted. And now there's only Wendy and Nicolas.
Thank you for uploading this didn't see it at the time. RIP Geoffrey Palmer
The CEO on 150 grand a year , and 130 staff average 45 grand a year L not on my fu. Ing money
I'd wished they would of done a one catch up series. I still hope they do a one off catch up series of Goodnight Sweetheart, when they brought that one catch up episode and did the same with Porridge, what did the BBC decide to do run a catch up series of Porridge even tho it got slated when they showed the catch up episode. Yet Goodnight Sweetheart that got brilliant ratings they said no to to run a further series, and what happened to Porridge? Well it fell flat and got dropped.
Re Goodnight Sweetheart, those who enjoyed it may like The Flipside of Dominic and Another Flip for Dominic, available on UA-cam. There’s also a Butterflies US pilot.
Son and dad now have died
S.I.P. Geoffrey from Terrence Bailey
They fecking should have. Have No Regrets when you leave this world.
I like when they meet in the park and one pigeon stays behind when the rest just fly away. That one pigeon is a Butterflies fan.
Wendy’s got a beatiful voice
Wendy Craig was a boyhood crush. I saw her play Peter Pan in Blackpool when she was about 20! I have followed her ever since!
I wish we could have a new next generation of comedy writers and actors to entertain us but alas I think we have had them all however I would really love to thank them for all their work making these sketches and making our miserable little lives a little bit more enjoyable God Bless and thank you a beautiful tribute to a certain Mr Palmer who has just left us ✝️💕🇬🇧🤘🙏🏻👍🎚💕🙏🏻😘👍🇬🇧🎚
Eruditely and truthfully put. Thank you..
@@guyemmott4009 God’s love to you buddy take care 🇬🇧🎚🙏🏻✝️💕💞🇬🇧🎚✝️💞
Grew up watching this... still funny! They did a great job of picking up where they left off. Sad that Geoffrey passed a week ago.
I'm 59 and what a load of rubbish over turning 60. It's great!! My poor dad didn't make it to 49. My mom didn't make it to 67. I'm praising God for every new day! I wouldn't go back for anything especially these days! It's hard to be young these days.
Maudlin, narcissistic, crap
