The most environmental friendly way of owning a vehicle is to keep your Internal combustion engine car or truck for 10 years or more, keep it well serviced and look after it. Don't keep buying new every few years fueling the new car industry.

An electric truck makes sense when you have a fixed route with charging facilities installed where needed.

They're also making farm equipment EVs. Considering that when it's harvest time, farmers will call in a mechanic to come and fix their vehicles in situ, as in, where it broke down, so they can continue working as soon as it's fixed. They're also really difficult to transport as dead weight, so it's cheaper to bring the mechanic with all the necessary parts and tools than it is to muscle it off the field and get it to the mechanic. But what happens when it's an EV? There aren't enough technicians around to send them to the farm. The EV can only do several hours of work before it needs to be recharged, which takes hours. Any farmer that buys EV farming equipment will reduce their productivity by half when harvesting time comes around. There's not many farms that can afford that level of increased costs, especially the massively increased downtime if it breaks down in the middle of the job. If they're going to use some new, more environmentally sustainable fuel, it has to also be commercially viable. I think hydrogen is the closest thing to a viable option we have, if we can get the infrastructure needed for it. But until then, it's just not possible without passing on the costs to the consumer, who has enough trouble paying their bills as it is.

Rushing into a solution that is not fully looked at opposed to dozen of other options that could be much better. EV's is not the only option for no emission vehicles. Yet they ignore them all. Why is that? I suspect it is all about control and power, but that is just what I think.

EVs are a nice idea, but the battery tech, costs, and lacking infrastructure are sorely lacking. They have to be cheap, safe, reliable, repairable,... current EVs are none of these.

Chargers are NOT the problem. Overall power generation limits the number of potential chargers. The USA will need to significantly add to the grid on-demand capacity, which means more coal/gas plants.

I like your coverage of this subject but you made a statement that needs to stop being repeated. The EV promise of no emissions is not achievable. it will be decades, if ever, before wind and solar energy can produce the electricity that even approaches the grid required capacity for an all-electric fleet. All of the negatives that is EV was well known in advance of this unrealistic push. Only now is it proving to be exactly as predicted.

And by having fueling stations THROUGHOUT America, the average Joe could go cng and be able to find fuel just about anywhere. You could Also refuel at home. Where corporation commissions regulate the cost, so it DIDN'T double or triple like under the China Joe administration!

Here’s a “threat” that most people have not mentioned. The thermal runaway issue is real and just imagine your local Walmart or Amazon warehouse with several rigs, backed in. If a fire breaks out, it could be a local tragedy. What happens when insurance companies forbid more that one rig parked at warehouses?

I don’t think these EV trucks will become more common. Even when everything is working 100%, they can’t haul as much by the end of the day as the truck they are replacing. Just run the trucks on natural gas, readily available everywhere, no he y batteries or long charging times

In my country charging an EV is considered working time when the car is owned by your employer , so even if you try to calculate that electric trucks are charged during breaks, workers, work unions and the law might disagree. Even local mechanics and craftsmen have returned their EVs because sometimes charging was required during working hours and that is a no go. Our government isn't happy about part time workers doing part time for the wrong reasons ( for more spare time, not care work) but in honesty our world might need some slow down, like staying at home when no green energy is available or working less a day so your EV never runs out of power in the middle of the work day ...
