I saw your video, nice improvement to the score record! I messed around with different slopes, such as the one you used, in a high score TAS, but stuck with the slope I learned to use from my Sonic run. Your choice of slope definitely looks easier. It was also amusing to see my zip jump across the lava with two spike boxes replaced with a simple glide.

Both versions are good, it's just Saturn has higher hardware and has a good 3d special stage

@@15-Peter-20 I'm wrong? look for both ost: genesis vs saturn diamond dust zone and tell me which song sounds less generic, right, the Saturn version is super generic. Rusty Ruins and Panic Puppet's songs in Genesis have no comparison versus Saturn.

The zip out of the wall. I have not done much testing, but it seems that Left must be released on the first frame that Sonic is ejected from the wall, otherwise he loses all of his speed when landing at the loop. There is also a higher position that Sonic can zip along where he will always lose his speed when landing. This applies to the 32 p/f zip, the slower 16 p/f zip allows Sonic to retain speed when landing. The window to start the zip is 3 frames for the lower position, and the next 5 frames for the higher position.

Been on quite a break from competing in Sonic games. Chrezm messaged me about the community finding this new route and I had to give it a go. I enjoyed the grind and intend to improve my time.

@@zurggriff481 I don't know how difficult that is because it must be a very frustrating IL with RNG, but you might consider trying. The best time is the oldest official WR in the entire Sonic saga by far, if you manage to beat it, would be one of your greatest achievements in your career as a speedrunner. I would try, but I have much less chance than other players like you.

@@Sm4sh I had my eye on this record back when I put together the list of untied records, back when ring attack activity was dormant. What spurred me to go for it now was HyperSonic7701, who posted a score attack record and mentioned in the comments that they were chasing the ring record. As far as attempts go, getting three 40s at the start has 1 in 216 odds and it takes me roughly 140 minutes to try those odds 216 times, so, not a quick process. If you try for this, we could have a three way race to break the record.

@@zurggriff481 Now I understand more, thanks for telling me that. I don't think I'll try it in the near future, so I wish you luck in this challenge. The way I see it, if you get good consistency (don't lose rings), it's worth at least trying (seriously). Like you, I have always had an eye on this IL, even if I don't have the consistency to try seriously (yet).
