Lego City 60440 - Lego® Delivery Truck - Kind of a Review
And here's another biggie from Lego!
In this review, I take a deep look at the Lego City 60440 - Lego® Delivery Truck set. With this set, Lego tries to capitalise on its brand's recognition by delivering a great looking set that is sure to please kids, adult fans of Lego, but also people that probably never bought any Lego set for themselves. It has the potential to become a mainstream classic and, who knows, be in store shelves for years.
Hopefully I won't be reviewing another Lego set of huge proportions until next year, because recording these in my current studio setup has been quite challenging!
Let me know what you think in the comments, and if you like this video, please go ahead and give it a thumbs up and subscribe!

Lego City 60408 - Car Transporter - Kind of a Review
Переглядів 3,4 тис.14 днів тому
Lego continues to throw at us the sets that we always wanted to have, but I'm afraid that it comes with a price. Like, literally, a real price. In real money. The Lego City 60408 - Car Transporter set is a bit of a sweet and sour proposition: it's a great set, well finished and with lots of details. It's even a very complete playset, and given that the size of the trailer asks for a lot of cars...
Lego City 60407 - Double-Decker Sightseeing Bus - Kind of a Review

Unexpected? Yes. Unimportant? Far from it. The Lego City 60407 - Double-Decker Sightseeing Bus set is somewhat of a little surprise. It's when you look at the full 2024 City line-up that you realise that this set fits perfectly in this new direction Lego City is taking. It's a nice set that drift apart from what one would expect from Lego City in the past years. But let me know what you think i...
Lego City 60409 - Mobile Construction Crane - Kind of a Review
Переглядів 4,3 тис.21 день тому
Now this one's a doozy! Long story short, the Lego City 60409 - Mobile Construction Crane set is absurd. And not in a bad way, far from it. It's a set that we were not expecting for the 2024 Lego City Summer wave, and that its designers made sure to go above and beyond, by taking not so subtle inspiration from the Liebherr LTM 1750, and surpassing expectations that we didn't know we had. Just l...
Lego City 60420 - Construction Excavator - Kind of a Review

The 2024 Lego City summer wave is here! Yay! For this review I decided to go straight into the 60420 - Construction Excavator, instead of starting with the smaller sets of the wave. Why? Because from the moment Lego released the images for this set, I wanted it real bad. I share my thoughts about the set and what I hope might be the return of construction sets to the City line. Fingers crossed!...
Lego June 1st Summer Wave - Quick Update

Quick update where you can see a Niltz in the wild! It's June 1st, and I woke up early to get the new Lego Summer sets hot out of the oven at my local Intertoys store. Actually, I got there so early that the sets were still not in the shelves. Fortunately, the good people at the store were super helpful and I left the store with everything I wanted. Or at least, most of it (I'm looking at you U...

And to finish off with the 2024 City Space theme (at least for now), I'll be sharing my thoughts on the 60431 - Space Explorer Rover and Alien Life. A superb medium-sized set that ticks all the right boxes for me: fantastic design that screams sci-fi, all the right characteristics for a great play experience, nice minifigures and even those cutie alien life forms. Oh and yes: it has 6 big wheel...

And we continue looking at the 2024 City Space theme, this time with the 60430 - Interstellar Spaceship. A set that clearly showcases the influences the design team took when developing the new Space line. I'm personally a big fan of the art direction, but I'm sure it's not everyone's cup of tea. Lego City Space 60429 - Spaceship and Asteroid Discovery - Kind of a Review

Next up on the Lego City Space line, we have 60429 - Spaceship and Asteroid Discovery, a 4 set that surprises for being a more "regular" City set than most 4 are. A very solid Space set that delivers in play potential, and that isn't as expensive as other 4 sets. If you like the video, just go ahead and give it a thumbs up, comment and subscribe!

Before the second wave of Lego sets for the Summer of 2024 hits, I take the time to look at some of the Lego City Space line, starting with 60428 - Space Construction Mech. Long story short, this is for sure one of my favourite €10 sets in recent memory. Go check the review and find out why. Quick look at 71046 - Collectible Minifigures Series 26 full collection. This is the year of Space for Lego, and even the minifigures got the Space treatment. This Space themed CMF series delivers a lot of great ideas with strong designs and very production values, keeping the collectable minifigures relevant. Going through these 12 minifigures really opened my appetite for more Lego City Space...

And to end this short series covering the Lego City 2024 Summer wave reveals, we're taking a look at the set 60440 - LEGO Delivery Truck. At the first sight it's obvious that this set is a direct successor to 3221 - Lego City Truck from 2010. But it goes the extra mile and gives us a lot more, but at a price. In this video I'm covering only the Jungle Explorer sets, which I know a lot of you are excited about because of the inclusion of a familiar minifigure face: Johnny Thunder. Now, I haven't any kind of nostalgia towards this character, as I was off Lego during this period, but I still appreciate a good throwback. If yo...

I didnt see any issue with the length. I learned a ton from the information you put in this video. I even found myself watching videos on real world setup. And that just made me want this thing even more. Cant wait till Aug 1st. Great video.
Thank you, I'm really glad you found the video useful! And yes, once you start going down the crane rabbit hole on UA-cam, it's impossible to go back :D

nice job on the review - the LEGO Truck looks awesome - Finally managed to get one as well from my LEGO Store.
Thank you! Seems like this set has really been flying off the shelves over there. Here in the Netherlands, we've been lucky and I don't think it has been sold out in online retailers, or even at my local toy shops.
@@NiltzsBoxofBricks Both this truck and the excavator set sold out first week here in my part of Canada. But delivery truck popping up when stock comes in. The excavator a 2 week delay so far
That's really bonkers to me. Then again, it might have more to do with stock distribution per region than how many sets are effectively sold. Would you say there's a lot of people buying Lego over there?
@@NiltzsBoxofBricks Yep - some areas of Canada there are some big LEGO store and the one in my city is small to medium size but usually stocked well on what they have
I really hope they continue to release sets in future waves that meet or exceed the quality of these releases (mobile crane, car transport, tour bus, and the Lego truck. Give us a new Octan Gas Truck!
Yeah, Octan has been quite absent lately, hasn't it? If they bring a Octan gas truck, we'll want a Octan service station too. On the other hand, the way trucks have grown in size, I'm not sure I'll be willing to pay the asking price for a huge petrol station :D
The two workers dressed in the red vest are supposedly Costco employees (this is a Costco retailer exclusive in the US, and Costco is famous for their hotdogs)
Oh wow, I just google it and yes, it makes so much sense now! Even the sign that comes in the set uses a very similar design Costco has behind their fast food counters. Amazing, thanks for sharing this!
Zestaw idealny to naczepa z nowego zestawu a ciagnik siodłowy ze starszego.😊
Love the car with the flames on it - nice style
It is! And when compared with the 2 other cars, it ends up standing out from the pack because the build is also different. I'm sure you'll enjoy it if/when you get this set!
Can’t wait for the new animals! Also, try not to say “uh” as much in your videos, I notice you say it a lot
Uhh...okay :D I kid, I know I said uh a lot, but uh...yeah, I can't help it :D And yes, I have a few Jungle Explorer sets and I can't wait to open them and check the new animals!
Wow wish I had this when I was a kid. Great looking set
Having this as an adult is one thing. Having it has a kid would absolutely hit different.
Thought of Saber Rider too as soon as I saw the set ⭐️
Great minds think alike, my friend! ❤️
That yellow and black car with the flame on it is pretty kickass. Wish they sold just THAT as a $10 or $15 set. I'd buy it just cuz it would look so cool on a shelf.
Agree, it is a very iconic looking little car. Maybe they'll come up with more classic-looking cars like this if there's enough reception. Back in 1992 they released 6648 alongside 6551, as well as 6538 with 6561 in 1993, and I think it's something that Lego should look into again.
@@NiltzsBoxofBricks I'd love to see a really good Star Wars Bespin twin cloud car, in orange, not the hokey one they did in red. They're getting really good at SHAPING, as this model car shows.
Now THAT is a Star Wars vehicle that hasn't got enough love from Lego. The new orange introduced this year for the City Space sets would work wonders, and with so many new sloped pieces we have now, I think it's time to revisit it.
@@NiltzsBoxofBricks Definitely. I've seen some MOCs that come close, but a Lego designer with every piece ever made at his or her disposal, and even able to create a new brick if needed, could do wonders with a Bespin twin pod car. That very short scene in Empire is just so COOL.
Yeah, and let's be honest, back then Boba Fett became a fan favourite with little screen time. Who knows, the Bespin twin cloud car could be the Boba Fett of Star Wars vehicles, just give it a chance! :D
I think LEGO can easily make silly-fun sets like the slushy vans for young kids and more detailed sets like the mobile crane, excavator, etc … this one falls right in between. It’s just a fun little set that makes you smile
Indeed. Food trucks are one of those cases where you can be a bit more silly and still feel like they are grounded in reality. And I'm all for it!
All North American LEGO sets have the piece count, set name, and information in English, Spanish and French on the boxes. Not sure why they don’t at least have the number of pieces on European / Asian sets
Historically, I don't think Europe has ever had the number of parts displayed in the boxes. I think it might've been a requisite in America though, like the security notice you can find on sets that include batteries.
I look forward to MOC builders utilize the 5th wheel trailer hitch piece and trailer connector
Me too, but most importantly, I hope that Lego sticks to it for future truck sets.
The truck is a _cab forward_ design that’s really well done and definitely more European in design
aka Cab Over & Flat nose/face
Speed champions are way too large ..l I much prefer six-wide cars like these
Speed Champions never meant to be compatible with City. It's two different series. I prefer 8-stud wide models because it's more detailed and less out of proportions.
@@xdrixn2115 6-stud speed champions were meant to be compatible with City. Since 8-stud - they no more.
How does the LEGO truck and the mobile crane look next to this truck? Would love to see the two trucks with the cabs switched (we won’t get this truck in North America until August )
Still haven't built the Lego truck, but once I do and review it, I'll make sure to put them side by side 👍🏻
I'm still not completely sold on the customizable cars. I just don't really think they look good swapped. Although they are a great idea.
On this set, they look attrocious when swapped. The cars are all too different for it to work. That said, I think they did good in adding the option IF they're releasing more sets with this feature, and embrace the wackiness of having parts swapped even if they don't match. It reminds me of a collection of toy cars in the 80s that would allow to swap the front, centre and back part of the cars, and just mix and match them in wacky ways. And for the life of me, I cannot remember the brand. They were bigger than Micro Machines, so they were probably Hot Wheels, but I can't confirm. And of course Google is not helping either.
Kids seem to love them and especially that they can make their own. One of my local LEGO stores had a in-store event where kids could make their own and they seemed to be having a blast
I really think lego missed with those swappable parts cars. There's just no cheap options to get them. It's the car transport and custom car garage. There should be like a 2 pack or a single car set that has like a spare front and back. As is kids aren't gonna get that stuff.
I see what you mean. I also did not think they would stick to the system, but then we got the Car Transporter. Would knows if they'll expand on it next year, maybe like you said, on a cheaper set. The Custom Car Garage is pretty okay, and it makes sense to have all the tools and minifigures. But if you remove all those things from the set, I think Lego could release a pack with two cars and 2 extra sets of front and back bumpers for around 20 or 25euros/dollars. Or better still, a 10 to 15euros/dollars set with just one car and 1 set of extra parts.
You're correct about the minifigs. Across the entire subtheme the yellow are construction/mining, blue pilots/scouts, green science. Also they each have one darker leader and there's a gold guy in the biggest set. Presumably that guy is the commander.
Or as I said on another comment, the Space billionaire :D
Pretty sure it also fits 2 minidolls. I don't have any so I can't double check.
Good point. That would explain the 2x1 panel piece with divider in the seating positions.
This is EASILY the best in the subtheme. It's just fantastic.
Ditto.
The lack of landing gears and a place for the drone are the only real negatives. Those are very minor negatives though imo.
Yeah, and you can feel that those were compromises that had to be done. In the end, the set experience did not really suffer from the absence of those elements.
This is a phenomenal 4+ set. Great playability, solid build, chunky alien, AND good price.
This is such a great small set. Also it's fantastic how every set in the theme has battery packs, color coordinated minifigs, and robots.
One of my favourites for this year, for sure. And yes, consistency is key and it makes this set much better because of it.
The alien tourist CMF works perfectly as a passenger on this bus
Absolutely! :D
I'm sure you know now but that alien arcade is from Alien Conquest
I actually did not research about it after the video, so thanks for pointing that out. Sadly, Alien Conquest is not a theme I'm familiar with :D
The cool thing about these minifigs is excluding Johnny they are all the same as the Arctic sets from last year. Blue haired girl sadly didn't make it.
Oh really? That is quite interesting.
I really love the connectability of these sets. It's cool to have all the terrain able to be connected. Makes it way easier to play or display.
They shoulda just done turquoise instead of green. Fits way better with what the color actually looks like.
I know! I've thought about that too, I don't understand why the green?! I mean, I know, Aston Martin, british racing green, yada yada yada. And yes, the Mercedes-AMG F1 has some teal accents, too. But given the source material being a metallic paint, teal would have been the closest option. I wonder if there's another F1 team that would benefit from that colour in future sets, and they had to go for green because of that...
This is just a fun set.
Lego food trucks for life!
This is just a fantastic little set
Someone should make a minifig scale version of this.
Having stickers on the windscreen is ridiculous. It just doesn't feel good. It'd be better to just have less detail imo.
Yeah... some decisions they made for the BMW 2-pack didn't do any favour to the set. Not sure if those were compromises or if that was the actual path they had planned from the beginning.
5 year old me would've absolutely LOVED this set. I might have it at the top of my Christmas Stocking list.
Nice little steamroller. Obviously it'd be more exciting if it was bigger, but that goes against the pricing and intentions of the set. This will also work great with either of the new construction sets.
Agreed. Other than the different the yellow, it's a nice addition to a construction site.
I think it'd be cool to see reviews of your old sets from your box. Especially that Fabuland set
I wish I could... that blue box of bricks and the rest of my 80/90s collection is not with me :/ I doubt that I'll bring my filming gear next time I visit my parents. But I do want to revisit the Town sets and I have some things in the works already. Stay tuned! ;)
FOL Fan -> TFOL Teen -> AFOL Adult Probably not all what people call them but based off the acronym that's what it'd be.
I like your video, but it's too long. If the video is less than 30 minutes long, people will watch it more (Am I the only one who is afraid of the long time?), and if you can do thumbnails, try to make them more visually recognizable! Most viewers do not look at the title, but look at the thumbnail, but if there is too much information, it will not look messy and pretty, so they will not come in easily! That was the advice of a passing viewer.
Nah this was a fine size. Plenty of lego reviews are this long and successful
Thanks for the suggestions, I really appreciate your feedback! I have some my difficulty to clearly express myself in english. And of course, that is reflected on the lengths of the videos as I tend to pause and think a lot. But then again, I'm comfortable to take things at my own pace. Maybe some days I'll have less time to record and the videos will be shorter. But I have always so much to say that if I keep videos short, my view of the sets won't be expressed as well as I want. But I agree that many established reviewers are trying to keep the videos below 10 minutes, especially with a bigger focus from UA-cam on short videos. In part due to TikTok, the audiences are shifting to shorter content, and that's fine. It's just that personally I like to take my time and give my thoughts (and the content) space to breath :) And about the thumbnail, I've been keeping the formula simple but I just noticed that In UA-cam Studio there's now a tool to see the performance of thumbnails. So who knows, I might start experimenting! Again, thank you :)
@@NiltzsBoxofBricks I respect your opinion! I will cheer for you. Just keep going! I think it's cool that you keep your thoughts.
Another new good lego build my sister name julian give it to me as a gift😊
Indeed, it's a very nice set :)
If you say add a cement truck, would be cool to also have a concrete pumper with articulated boom with the series.
Oh I like your way of thinking :D I'm all for it, too!
There is a less expensive base set out now. It's the same price as this vehicle. The set is 60439. I got a couple of them to help put together a base for display.
Indeed. I really like it, as it doens't break the bank and gives us a groundbase. Even the concept around it is pretty neat. It'll probably be the only remaining set from Space that I might get. Oh, that one and also the hoverbike polybag, which actually shares a very similar design to the wheelchair-adapted hoverbike in the 60439.
Another thing I think was part of the design of this ship, is another homage. Look at the Classic Space logo, and the ship going around the moon on it. Now look at the shape of this ship. I think this is intended as one interpretation of the ship on the logo. I agree with your assessment of the uniform colors. I think blue is transport, green is science, yellow is mining. The dark parts of her suit do seem to mean she's captain of that team. In 60434 there's a fig in the miners team with a darker orange/brown helmet and arms. I think he's the lead miner. That set also has a guy with gold gear who appears to be the leader of all of it. I'm not sure if there's a science team lead. I don't recall seeing one in the sets I have.
The Science lead is in 60433. So yeah the darker colored minifigs are the leaders for sure.
Oh wow, indeed the ship does have a similar shape to the Space logo. That could really be it. I wonder why Lego didn't use that for marketing and promotional material (at least I did not see any video or anything with that idea). It would've made a lot of sense, and it would make the brand awareness much more stronger. Ah yes, the golden space suit guy that just looks like a space Billionaire. Go figure... :D
With the android nurse, that's not LE, it's 37 printed on her arm. It's normal human body temp in C. And I think the thing on the back of her head may be a US style power outlet without a ground plug. LEGO likes to do US style things even though they're not based over here. The 60s Retro Space Maiden is a partner for the Retro Space Man from Series 17. I got him after market. They look great together. The double arm was used for Stitch when he was in the space jumpsuit for one of the Disney CMF lines. I agree with your love of this series. I have them all too, and they're all great. I was out of LEGO for Blacktron, M-Tron, and Ice Planet, but I can appreciate the great designs.
Hahahah it is 37 hahah. How did I miss that? In my defense, I would expect the temperature monitor to be facing the nurse's face :D Thanks for all the other insights. Indeed, I think the CMF benefited from scaling down in size. A lot more attention has been given to the designs and their implementation, and it shows in this series.
I’ve just saw this set and have just ordered it, there will hopefully be someone clever who will be able to make upgrades to the crane but as you say it would look very authentic with the Y-guying system and either a lattice extension, fly or luffing jib and wish Lego would make them but it would be a little tricky for children to reeve the pulleys for a luffing jib.
Well, I'm not sure I'm clever enough but I already started working on the Y-guy system :D Not an easy task when I don't have a lot of experience with Technic parts. The cabling won't be easy, but it's possible. Only when I have the Y-guying figured out will I think about the lattice extension, but so far it seems that the set as is has enough connection points to expand it. Finger crossed! And enjoy the set! I'm sure you'll love it.
I’ll do the Y-guying system might be easy depending on how the arm connects to the main boom as well as one of the little hydraulic pieces used in the outriggers, I’ve already started buying pieces for my luffing jib and hope the boom can take it and no wobbling of the turntable, just hope there’s enough space to put a luffing reel box between the weights 4x8 would do.
Amazing! About the turntable, when I lifted the smaller crane I felt like it wanted to pop up, but nope, That won't happen. The fact that it doesn't use a traditional turntable is a great move by the designers. I also started adding a few parts in a Bricklink wishlist, but I won't be ordering until I have everything I need (still desiging digitally in Studio). Good luck figuring out the best way to make those upgrades!
You are not crazy to want full meal, you are just hungry 😂 Food trucks and vans are very wanted in AFOL comunity, source Brickset. P.S. watching you in your introduction video, your face looks very familiar to me! Are you Christoph Waltz brother?!? 😅
Hahah Christoph Waltz is a new one for me, never heard that one before :D And yes, everyone seems to like the food trucks. Even my girlfriend, which is not a AFOL, decided to get all the older food trucks after building the Burger Van! So yeah, they are very popular indeed.
Picked up a couple of these Double-Deckers - Great looking LEGO Set

It is a beaut. Lego really pushing its City sets onto a path that I'm curious to see where it'll lead.
Love this puppy, so nice and well build ! Waiting for a sale to get at least one. Thx for the review.
Thank you! And yes, it shouldn't be hard to get a deal on it.
