with printed parts, this does not make sense.
great idea having almost given up on Dragon photo etch clamps, but I might just try a set of Aber clamps before giving in to the new trend of resin made clamps. thanks for the great video really helpful.
This video popped up .. through the magic of UA-cam when I am going to do some brass soldering for a 1:48 "Critter" chassis (model railroading). Thanks.
Yo dorky your 157th podcast is dead again after 8 episodes! I uinderstabd why!
Excellent technique! 👏🏻
Dammmmm! Thank you for sharing!!! I’m able to do a lot of photo-etch, but the clasps I was to afraid of. I think I might give them a try !!!!😊
Hey Rob. Thanks for putting this together Bro. Lots of cool stuff and amazing work. I thoroughly enjoyed watching !
That helped a lot, thanks!
Very helpful. Thank you 👍
I recognized many peoples work
What about making tool clamps that open and close?
Try soldering paste instead of wire. This is a way more cleaner way (less cleaning required)
Extremely helpful!
Cool. I won the Vietnam award for its that seal at 11:15
Cool models. 👍
If you aren't a professional teacher, you certainly could be. Your explanation is very much on point, and I know from ARMORCON that you have the patience of a saint.
Excellent presentation. Thank you for doing this.
Thanks for doing this, Rob. Great job!
Thanks for the videos. It was the first mosquitocon i missed in 10 years.
PE tool clamps are nothing but frustration for me, thank you for doing this!
I subscribed to your channel! I'm from Japan Thank you very much.
I saw that P-3 when I was stationed at Thule Greenland!
Your doing a good job on your Videos
Thanks for sharing the pictures and video
Looked like it was a great show! Wish I could have gone!
Nice going Rob! Much prefer the slide show to video for individual models. I subscribed. Good luck!
Great stuff, thanks for sharing.
Thanks Travis, my pleasure and thanks for watching...
I agree that the vendors tables has been slowly showing less kits that I normally go for and do to this weird economy we are having its not helping us model builders. Still there is that rare, hard to find kit that does come up every know and then that you may want to get or be inspired by what you see. Despite this I will still attempt to support them the best I can when possible. I really like how the ship models look and hopefully I will make a model ship next year!
The vending has been on a decline over the years, but I always will support them as well. Loved the ships, I always gravitate over to those tables and are amazed by the detail...
Nice coverage of Mosquitocon 2023, and keeping the photos organized. There are some very talented auto builders there, and make me want to quit attempting automotive builds altogether. How do the judges qualify one build over another? The paint coverage and detailing were all amazing. Are there makers categories? (Ford, GM, Foreign?) Rock Music background not my first choice.
Thanks sunguar, The cars were amazing and I scratch my head how great all the entries were. I couldn't even imagine what the judges look for on those things. I'm primarily an Armor modeler. I think the categories are by scale and street cars and race cars if I'm not mistaken. Next show report will be all piano and classical music. Thanks again for the support sunguar....
thanks for the video , i was at this show , thanks for showing my 2 gundams , the chrome and the one next to it. and my klingon warbird, uss grissom, razor crest and uss shenzhou. it was a really fun show. i won 4 awards there for my cars. i posted a video of the show as well. looks like you are a new channel. im going to sub. looking forward to watching your work.
Thanks Onix I really appreciate it. You did some great work. I loved the Warbird and fantastic job on your other projects. I will check out your channel as well.
I like to say thank you for showing my Gundam Diorama build at the start of this video. I also posted a video of the whole show too but I will promote this video as well!
Thanks Stryderprime, I really appreciate it. I will do the same.
Thanks for the video .. some great models at the show .
Thanks Richard. Hope all is well.
Great video, Rob, I enjoyed it a lot. A very wide variety of models at this show, and very interesting as well 👍😎
Thanks Rob. Still trying to get used to all the editing. I have a bunch of video to edit and upload...
Nice work putting this together. Could you clarify one point--What does, "Display not in contest" mean? Could you clarify? (at 9:38)
Thanks singular. Those model are on display to see but are not entered in the contest. So they are not judged for any awards.
Fantastic job Rob Riv
Thanks Alan. It was great seeing you and looking forward to AMPS Nats. Its gonna be a blast.
Nice video, amd thanks for posting. I'd vote more rock music and less figure skating music!
Thanks Dave. That's one of the reasons why I added the Rock music...
Well done Rob.
Thanks Horst, I appreciate it and it was great seeing you.
@@robrivsmodelinginsanity8578 You also, i dont get around to see everyone as much as i would like. See you at the Nats.
Thanx for the video. Did you try holding the end caps by sticking a thin strip of masking tape to it (fold over itself, like a "flag")? This would give you a "handle" to hold the piece while getting it in the groves where it's supposed to sit.
That’s a great idea Damir. I didn’t think of that. I am going to try and do that next time around.
Very helpful thanks
Thanks Drizz. I appreciate it.
Great video, I just started listening the podcast that you are on and love it also. This really helped me to understand how these work, and I will have to try to make me some.
Thanks John. I appreciate it. I hope it helped as this was an older video. More vids to come and craziness on the podcast.
Great video!!! You’re gonna do just fine. Great job on the tutorial. Looking forward to seeing you make more vids!! By the way, how are your ni……. Never mind! 😊
Lol, thanks LT. I appreciate it. More videos soon. Didn’t realize how much time is spent editing and going through footage.
@@robrivsmodelinginsanity8578 i would say that’s one of the reasons why I haven’t been active on my channel, but in my opinion, quality over quantity.
@@LTModels ya its not easy and I am not good at this type of stuff. I have so much video recorded on my current build and tutorial that it is overwhelming. Thanks for the support LT.
Well done, Rob!
Thanks John. I appreciate it bud.
Hey Rob, BRILLIANT!!!!! I always avoided them, the masking tape as a clamp is a great idea!!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!
Thanks Owen, I hope it helps bud!
@@robrivsmodelinginsanity8578 it definitely helped!!! I have to build a tiger now so I can build all those clamps.
Great videos, Rob! Thank you so much.
Thanks for watching Jim!
This was a helpful video, Rob. I have some questions: 1. Are the clamps workable after the cementing with CA? If not, how do you fit them over the tools to give the "humped" shape and clamping appearance? 2. It would seem that the CA would leave a lump on the handle that would show up after painting and weathering. Do you do anything to remove it?
Hey Kurt, these are not made workable. These will fit over all of the tools by living them on. If they don't you would make the clamp around the tool handle if needed. A little cleaning with the facto blade would be needed if you put the CA on the outside of the bracket, but not always depending on how much you apply.
Thank you for this. Nicely presented and very clear technique. Shall certainly give it a go.
Thanks Rich! I appreciate the support and I hope this video helps. You can reach out anytime…
Will you be putting these on a kit and showing how to put the tools in them too? This stuff is GOLD
Thanks Brian. Absolutely. The idea was to make quick tutorials to start and then full build videos integrating the tutorials in those videos.
Thanks for this. Well presented and clear and concise directions. Took some of the mystery, stress and fear away. Ready to give PE clamps a try again using this method.
Thanks Mike!
Really good, professional video! This is a technique I’ve avoided so far, now you’ve given me the confidence to try it. I’ve subscribed and looking forward to the next one 👍🏾
Thanks Martin! I appreciate it! More vids to come bud!
Thx, very interesting guide and a first video that makes we want to see the following ones. I just subscribed! As a beginner that has never done PE soldering... yet, I would have liked to see how you sanded the end parts of the tank. I mean, how did you manage to put sanding paper down there without damaging the tiny ridge all around?
Thanks Libb! I appreciate it. I cut the sanding stick and used the tweezers to sand inside the end caps. This was an older video re-edited and the newer vids will be better quality.
