HOW ABOUT TRYING AN EXPERIMENT WITH THE PEOPLE OF SENTINEL ISLAND? Ok so, all attempts to communicate with the islanders has failed. Thru have responded with hostility and violence. Go ing to the island is illegal, and rightfully so. It could result in inadvertently introducing a deadly illness to them, not to mention they will kill all visitors. So, how about an experiment that will not harm, invade, or interfere with them? Imagine If we were to build a few rafts, and load them with various simple items of our modern world. Things like: Several pairs of binoculars. Magnifying glasses Laminated maps showing their highlighted island and the lands just beyond their horizon. Photos of us modern humans, our cities, airplanes, etc. Various toys such as balls or Frisbies. When the tide and winds are just right, and in the darkness of night, a raft could be set adrift (from a boat a mile or so away) so that it would be pushed ashore. Then, wait from a distance. Wait for the islanders the next day to discover the raft and the things abord. Watch their reaction. How will they respond? One member picks up a magnifying glass. It's easy to learn and understand. Another discovers the binoculars and discovers their function. Might these items "nudge" them into discovering science?
