    I think it’s a toller thing my 11 month old listens to everything but putting her paws on the table so hard to break her from it 😂

    Enjoying your videos, what a great looking Toller! I don't "yet" have a Toller but I have been in communication w/Alyssa (Rosecreek) and met her at a show about a year or so ago. I'm in the Cleveland, Ohio suburbs.....hoping I might be able to get one next spring or so.

    When my Toller Finley was a just shy of 1 year old, I left the kitchen for a minute. When I walked back in, he was standing on the kitchen table. He was just looking at me like: "oh, hi dad". There wasn't even any food on the table anymore. He just wanted to check. With a little training, he now won't even take food off the coffee table. He'll whine and dart his eyes between me and the food, but he won't touch it.

      also! mine is from Rosecreek as well, Ranger is his father but my guy is only 32 lbs! I use him for upland hunting as well, and he has done so well flushing and chasing down pheasants. He still has work to do regarding retrieving the dead birds, as he gets a little weird about picking them up once they're dead. Mine will play fetch for hours all day, super active and is an addict for chuckit balls. Great breed, wonderful with my kids and their friends, but agree with you, you have to be active with them. Tater looks awesome, great update.

      @@tatertotthetoller2674 yes, hes a male. Half brothers it sounds like. His mom is marina. I was always hoping he would get to be the size of yours, but hes a smaller guy. he holds up better than i would have thought though with hunting. I think his smaller frame lets him move through brush without wearing down a little better than my previous dog (chesapeake bay retriever)

    I've had a Toller now for a 9 years working as an upland dog. Due to an accident few years back, the guy is now retiring and we got a young pointing dog (Small Munsterlander) as a latest addition to the family. Tollers are awesome. Great with family and small kids, awesome buddies in the field. Even in this video, you can see something that you should start to take a note on when you're hunting with the dog. Upland hunting with a flushing dog requires you to pay close attention to the dog at all times in order to be ready. Especially here in Finland, where we hunt upland in thick forrest (no pheasants in open field). When you work with the dog, you can see from the movement of the tail that it has a sent and that there is a bird close by, keep eye on that. Good choice with the Toller and do enjoy your time together!

    Hi! We just welcomed a toller puppy into our family! We have her crate next to our bed, and us putting our hand by her immediately calms her down. We are worried she is going to develop a habit of needing us touching the crate or being right next to her. When did tater grow out of needing you right by him and how did you do that transition?

    In this video your puppy is already way more engaged compared to video 1, which means you did a good job! What kind of engagement training did you do if any? Did you also train him with food/kibble to follow your hand and look up to you?

    • @tatertotthetoller2674
      @tatertotthetoller2674 2 роки тому

      I did have kibble in my hand. He had to touch his nose to my hand before the clicker goes off and he received the kibble. After learning that I worked in doing it with and without kibble and eventually filtering it out all together. As far as engagement goes, everything we do with him is very focused work with purpose.
