Traversing the Dolomites | Chicken Soup for the Mountain Biking Soul

#bigmountain #dolomites #mountainbike #minnesota #epic #sleeptoken Last month, Sol Messing and I took a mountain biking trip that included seven days of riding across the Dolomites in the Italian Alps. In total we rode about 120 miles, climbed approximately 10k feet but descended a ridiculous 65k feet! It was my first time doing an international mountain biking trip, and everything went quite s...

Chasing Raphie Down Leap Frog at Giants Ridge
Переглядів 82Рік тому
The parallels between mountain biking and life have always stood out to me. Parenting often resembles guiding children along a challenging trail. Then, that moment arrives when we step back and witness them soaring independently. Just two weekends ago, I followed my 12-year-old son down his first downhill trail at Giants Ridge in northern Minnesota. The little boy I coached since he was 6, who ...
Lizard Trail Uphill Insanity

We finally made the trek out to Mt. Nebo during our Bentonville trip last week. It was well worth the 2.5 hr drive from Bentonville! Unfortunately/fortunately we ended up doing the Lizard Trail backwards resulting in some insane climbs and none of the iconic downhills. I guess this means we gotta come back next year to right this wrong 😀 Also, on my first day in Bentonville I fell while riding ...
The Half Lemmon Drop - Bugs Spring, Prison Camp and La Milagrosa

Do you think of gnarly mountain biking when you think of Tucson, AZ? If you don't, then I gotta say Tucson is probably one of the best kept scerets in mountain biking. Mt. Lemmon is truly legit and was the most challenging set of trails i have done till date. Last December I took a trip down to Tucson on my own and made a friend in Mike who showed me around. Mike and i kept in touch and planned...
Southern Utah MTB Madness | Barrel Trail

Riding Barrel (mis-spelt it Barrell on the vid :D) trail with Aaron from @southernutahmtb and his buddy Johnny! I was so stoked to be able to ride with these awesome dudes though I was more in spectator mode than actually riding with them. Aaron runs a MTB rental and guide business in St. George and is hands down the best trail buddy you could ask for. Him and his crew are big time senders, but...
Roadtrip Across the American Southwest
Переглядів 1502 роки тому
The American Southwest is such a magical place - rich in history and natural beauty. We recently discovered that Jamie has Pueblo ancestry so our trip out there this time was extra special. It was amazing to experience the architectural and natural marvels of this place, and get a glimpse of how these ancient Americans once lived. Our trip took us from Denver to Durango, across New Mexico, to M...

The Best Way to View Fall Colors in Minnesota
Переглядів 8602 роки тому
Jackpot Trail High Climber in Lutsen, MN Jackpot was bursting with Fall colors this past weekend! We did a to-and-fro 30-mile ride which was pretty awesome. More climbing than I usually prefer, but a super fun trail littered with little features and spectacular views. Totally recommend checking it out if you haven't already.
Soiled Man Pants in Copper Harbor | Death Defying Save

A group of us went up to Copper Harbor Trails just this past weekend. With amazing trails from pretty easy to crazy scary, awesome welcoming locals, gorgeous views and great food, this place is definitely a must visit. Check out this video of us hitting Over Flow, a double black trail in CH minus the wooden gap jump/roll at the beginning (wood features sketch me out and I avoid them as much as ...
Piedmont gives riding out West a run for its money!

Rediscovering Duluth (Piedmont) Music: Gulch Four years ago, some friends and I drove up to Duluth to ride Spirit. It had been about 6 months since I had gotten into mountain biking and I was stoked to try a downhill trail for the first time. It was raining when we got there and the lifts were closed, so we decided to ride Piedmont instead. I had to walk more than 90% of the trail. At the time ...
I cleared a jump for the first time at Giants Ridge
Переглядів 7372 роки тому
Went up to Giants Ridge for the first time this past weekend with some friends and it was a blast. The options of Giants and Spirit makes me super happy but i wouldnt mind a couple more downhill trails of the same caliber scattered around MN, maybe revive Lutsen and build new around Winona? My focus last year was rocks and i have gotten significantly better. This year its all about drops and ju...

Very nice. What does that mean cut?
That is an insane ride and video. Wow. Was that all on one day? It looked like you were riding on the moon in parts of the video. Incredible Paruj.
Taylor, it was so epic!! We still need to get out for a ride!! This was about 6 days of riding. Some trails were the same soldiers used during WWI, particularly those towards the end with the moon like rocks :)
🫡
What a dream place❤
This video captures how rugged the trail really is. Those steep chunky sections where you just have to hang on and pray are nicely punctuated with nonverbal grunts and groans exactly how I felt when riding it!
Bro should be going to church on Sunday. If not for his guardian angel that guy would be having reconstructive facial surgery. That was nuts! 3:10
Awesome riding Raphie!!
Sinter is a BLAST!
🤘🤘
Epic my brother ! Let’s hit it next time like a boss 😂😎🙌
Looked beautiful, at least you got a different perspective on this trail🚴, still looked like it worked OK in spots. Pushing on those climbs! Great job!
Awesome video, this trail is not easy, it has everything to train our skills. Your channel sub.
Good vid Buddy.
Good times with bike guys! 🤩🤩
Hiline is so much fun !! 😍😍
Yaboii! I got scared after almost falling off the cliff! Next time more features to hit.
Yaboi !! U got it
Awesome video and handsome crew!
Good drone footage buddy!!
You guys are crushing it! This spot looks rad!
AZ has become my favorite MTB destination. Join us next Dec. It will be epic!!

Epic brother!! 🙌🙌
Legend!
Place looks rad, so manny floaters…
Its a massive playground. Wish i could jump lol!
Looks fun buddy!
So many options out there man! These guys have been to tiger mtn too. We should all plan a trip there too!
@@hungrymtngoat let’s do it
Send the gaps next time brah
You need to join me and i will :)
@@hungrymtngoat yes please
Good riding with you Paruj!
Aaron, you a beast man! Look forward to many more rides together!
Beautiful my brother! 😍😍
It’ll be interesting to see how you get along with the new wheels size and shorter travel. I’ve noticed with reduced travel bikes that pumping can really pay dividends. I’m sure after some rides it’ll fit more like a glove. It took a little bit to get used to my SB130 (6months), but now it really fits and feels like an extension of my body. Your kid is ripping it up! Sweet vid!
It feels a little weird but not too bad. Is your SB130 your first 29er too? Thanks man, i get to leverage his editing skills for my vids now lol!!
Btw, did you catch the @dialedin shoutout? :)
@@hungrymtngoat It is my first 29er, it did take a little bit getting used to and would only do this wheel size for trail now. The only place id consider a 27.5 would be a dedicated free ride or downhill bike. Once you get that thing Dialed in lol, it’ll be a go to bike for nearly everything in MN.
@@hungrymtngoat I appreciated that, lol! Sweet insertion!
😍😍
Yeah man. Working way less with less travel! + 29er. Your kids ripping! Awesome you can ride with him. Mine is only 5 but riding trails already! Cant wait to shred big stuff with him!
I started him at 5 too! :) love finally being able to shred with him. Another reason i needed less travel, to keep up with these guys lol!
If you want to go really REALLY fast, put Maxxis Rekon Race or Vittoria Mezcal tires on it. They both work well everywhere in the metro other than Battle Creek.
Thanks, great suggestions. Tires will be my upgrade for next season :) other than that love it. For BC i can take my trusty sb 140!
Mpantoja627 are those electric bike n
Very nice. I’m looking forward to checking this trail out. Great time of year to ride the North Shore.
Views? Blurs
Flow for days! Or at least one really long day. Perfect fall riding!
Always wondered how amazing this trail would look during the fall. It delivers!
Looks fun buddy! 😍😍
Let’s go
Beautiful fall views and great trails.... can't go wrong!
Awesome!
Beautiful!!!
When I'm not riding these trails I'm watching videos of other people riding these trails.
Such a fun trail system. Cant wait to be back!
Hi, I am from Kathmandu, Nepal too. I just started mountain biking. Mostly riding the blue trails around right now. Lebanon is my favorite far. I am from around Hopkins let me know if I can ride along with you sometime. Great content btw
Hey, thats awesome!! Yes, lets definitely try to get a ride in. Theo is quite close to Hopkins too.
Haha! Yea, that was a ripping good time! It was a blast meeting up with you guys and your boys last save is incredible. Man pants is no joke! Crazy feature, I was going to check off this year but after seeing Matt almost die I may need more time..😫
Man, that was so much fun! Glad we got to meetup. Haha! Im gonna try to psyche myself up to hit man pants next year.
So much fun my brother ! 😍😍🔥🔥
Yaboi!! AZ in Dec!!
@@hungrymtngoat let’s get it!
Have u seen the new little red loop on the big blue loop there’s a steep rock roll
I dont think so! Will need to go check it out :) Thanks for the suggestion!
I always end up using trials skills more than trail skills in piedmont with all the rocks
I wish i had trial skills!! :)
Buddy I need to come back soon for piedmont 🪨 lol
Ya dude! Move back to MN, you dont know what you missed :D
@@hungrymtngoat haha yeah maybe hit piedmont and then copper harbor in September buddy?
@@RidewithTenzin lets do it!!
Man, you guys got it in this day! Piedmont rocks!
Man, such amazing trails. Cant wait to be back! Are split rock and jackpot comparable?
@@hungrymtngoat They’re both different from Piedmont. Splitrock has a similar style in regards to having a lot of rock both naturally occurring and machine placed. Overall the Splitrock wilds has a bit of a sustained challenge in many spots to maintain speed and manage the tech uphill sections. Jackpot you can really crank out some miles as it’s a much faster trail with less technical terrain. Both are excellent systems! Go check them out! Maybe start with Tofte to Lutsen out and back.
@@Dialed1 hope to do both yet this year. Great suggestions, thanks man!!
Dope! It was an awesome day. 🤙
Chasing John Sends is always dope!!
Congrats! 🥳
It’s a great feeling! Glad you’re getting those jumps dialed.
Thanks buddy! Soon i should call myself the hungry flying squirrel lol! 😂
