Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics
Germany
Приєднався 10 лют 2020
At the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics, we explore the interaction of light and quantum systems, exploiting the two extreme regimes of the wave-particle duality of light and matter. On the one hand, we handle light at the single-photon level where wave-interference phenomena differ from those of intense light beams. On the other hand, when cooling ensembles of massive particles down to extremely low temperatures we suddenly observe phenomena that go back to their wave-like nature. Furthermore, when dealing with ultrashort and highly intense light pulses comprising trillions of photons we can completely neglect the particle properties of light. We take advantage of the large force that the rapidly oscillating electromagnetic field exerts on electrons to steer their motion within molecules or accelerate them to relativistic energies.
Scientific Career at MPQ (Trailer)
Building a career in science and academia is a challenging endeavour. Nonetheless, many researchers have gone through this process successfully, and became well established or even leaders in their field afterwards. The Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics is an ideal environment for excellent researchers who aspire to pursue a career in quantum optics - be it in academia or in industry or start-ups. Three of our senior scientists, Dr Mari Carmen Bañuls from the Theory Division, Dr Philipp Preiss from the Many-Body Systems Division, and Dr Dmitrii Kormin from the Laboratory of Attosecond Physics share their own perspectives and opinions on a scientific career in quantum optics and why they think the MPQ is the perfect (starting) place for it.

I want my 6y of life back that I spent in this Lab.....
You talk a lot, but the technology isn't that complex. Your extensive explanations often annoy people. China simplified it, so there's no need for all this talk. Just be straightforward, speak less, and discuss the project clearly.
People remember it's only camera quality attracting you to join here so think accordingly 😅
1:05 professor Frank Cruze is a noble prize recipient.
MPQ is great! please, god, give me the chance to experience it.
It would be very informative if this channel could also share research based talks or lecture series.
What a pleasure to watch this short impression! BRAVO ! Wish you can transmit your sense of curiosity and decent excitement to the education system, from a young age kids should get inspiration and fine examples of what people are capable off in this world full of madness and ignorance. Do you have "open days" summercamps or other means to interact with the 'general' public?
Does the institute accept undergrad students from outside the germany for summer research/internship
How can I become part of this?
Science should play a crucial role in solving global problems.
Max plank institute is in India , i suppose.
Wow guys, this is great. Thank you so much.
Could i work there as an intern or permanent i am truly àttracted to universe i can do non stop that much how i like
It's the same place.
With the wide availability of the Internet, it is good that you can study other advanced subjects and not just your research in your work. There must be some other connected scientific research areas of interest to you. AI is now one common tool.
What if we made an experiment?

Tengo que cumplir cpn mi deber, no puedo trabajar en las teorias. Lo siento de verdad, me encantaria terminar mis teorias y modelos, pero no creo q eso tendra fin. Con amlr sincero. Rafa. ❤
How powerful was Maiman's laser in Milliwatts ? My strongest laser pointer 450nm has 5 watts 💙
Why is the phd deadline so early?
I just seen the first test to come to the public from Attosecound tech. They hit liquids molecules with Attosecound lasers when the material of the molecule vibrates at very specific wavelength hence the ability to measure molecules as low as 4 mops

Yes I like quantum mechanics and know the formula of blach holes entanglement but getting a phd is too little too late for me.
Hi you .I did not comment on you How did you replay to me a like.

Doesn't matter. I wanna do Maths. And it doesn't care if I do it from some posh institute or back of my Wendy's. Just need a pen and a paper. That's the beauty of it.
Sir, this is physics.
@martini.1999 I know. It's what comes before you say "after that it's all just maths".
@@Quartzite Yeah and it's an integral part of understanding how the world works. All the beautiful theories and tools are nothing but that if the experiment says you're wrong. And don't get me wrong. In fact, there is no more successful interdisciplinarity than that between physics and mathematics. But saying "Doesn't matter." is not quite a fitting statement towards the field of physics.
@@martini.1999 well I didn't say that I don't care about it. I don't hate Physics or Physicists, I hate the bs. I kinda like Physics to some extent but nothing beats maths.. Physics is good! I will try to indulge in it more. But the problem is the bs in the academia. Like what's the progress so far? Does the money that they are getting in the form of grants, is being used for good or not? Most people are not into science for science, and the ones who really are doesn't get credited or their research gets stolen. Cause Like Feynman says "So I have just one wish for you - the good luck to be somewhere where you are free to maintain the kind of integrity I have described, and where you do not feel forced by a need to maintain your position in the organization or financial support, or so on, to lose your integrity. May you have that freedom."
Great job on the visual storytelling.
Thats so great!! Hello, good afternoon from Bolivia. In my case, I am a mechatronic engineer. Can I do my PhD in quantum physics at the Max Plank Institute? What prior studies do I need to pursue the doctorate?
Do you have a background in QM, completed some courses in this area?
Hi, @Nuss-j4s Gettings! I don't mean to be intrusive, but I've got about the same question. I got a bachelor degree in Chemistry (BSc), and completed some online courses related to the field such as Quantum Mechanics of Molecular Structures (by the University of Tokyo through edx), Path Integral Methods in Atomistic Modelling (by EPFL-Sweden through edx), and Statistical Molecular Thermodynamics (by the University of Minesota through Coursera). What are the odds of being accepted to pursue a MSc. Program in the field? Is there any required CGPA? And if I get a master's degree in Chemistry, and specialize in Physical Chemistry, would that work? Regards
Indian position about research?????
Very informative
thank you, prevent effect of global warming, minerals and temperature of water and air from sea are huge source of energy, reduce more than 50% using fossil fuel, fresh water, fertilizer(minerals+o2,n2,C), zero pollution, economy will rise by using jet plasma machine and compressed gas(Air) in isolated structure in water pool with more than 80 % efficiency, it has two vertical cylinders, in first level it transfers compressed gas(hot air) temperature from engine to sea water in pool for steam electric generator, steam combines with high cold Air pressure to produce pure water and electricity , New energy from sea will change world soon, there are other source of energy that with international cooperation in coastline we can reduce effect of global warming, further more we can prevent these phenomena like cyclone and flood and wildfire by using this hot seasonal atmospheric condition, recent years in summer, geothermal energy happens in surface of coastline, there are many countries in coastline with seasonal hot weather and water condition in comparison with middle Ocean, its more than 12 degrees ,this differences must decrease, in sum-up, by using this energy not only is economical but also reduce global warming in countries like Japan, China, India, Mediterranean countries, Iran, Brazil, Mexico, Us, Canada, (Africa and Arabian countries....) . I invented new method base on air pressure rules and quantum physics ionization sea water minerals in strong dynamic permanent magnet(SMCO) with special frequency(1500or 3000)/minute bases on paramagnetic and diamagnetic particles and electrical microwave electron wave field and electric chemical reactions and photon wave from semiconductors with special angle Cations like(K+, Mg++, Na+, H+, H++, li+, H2, ...) are transferred to in the second level into up level by vacuum pump from storage into combustion chambers and they combine with O2 and N2 ,... as major part of fuel for producing electricity and fresh water and fertilizer. this machine produces 150Megwatt/hour and 20000M3/DAY fresh water and fertilizer. 7 methods zero pollution for reducing global warming I mentioned in my profile. (G20 countries can solve these phenomena).
I like this 😊

Looks like planning to reinvent famous scientist work, Mr. Piotr Gariaev . His team demonstrated achievements at several universities in Europe , Canada ( Toronto ), Russia. Regeneration of cells and organs.
Amazing presentation. Great job Keyhan Golyari!
So, in essence a laser is a "photon copier" and because photons are bosons they can occupy the same space which makes it a laser?
The Nobel Prize in Physics 1932 Werner Heisenberg “for the creation of quantum mechanics, the application of which has, inter alia, led to the discovery of the allotropic forms of hydrogen” und noch: "The Nobel Prize in Physics 1933 Wenn man schon über die Geschichte der Quantum Physik redet (mit, teils, zweitrangigen Namen) und den Schöpfer nicht erwähnt, stellt sich die Frage ist es mangelhafte Ausbildung oder was Anderes?
