★Organic Brain Syndrome :- A category of mental illness that is caused by identifiable physical changes or damage to the brain, rather than by psychological or social factors. This can include conditions resulting from head injuries, strokes, infections, tumors or degenerative diseases (Alzheimer's).
★It can significantly affect an individual's ability to perform daily activities, maintain relationships, manage overall health.
★Other terms :- Organic Brain Disorder, Organic Brain Disease, Organic Mental Disorders and Organic Mental Syndrome.
•DELIRIUM (Acute OBS) :- An acute state of Clouded Consciousness characterized by disturbance of cognitive functions such as thinking, perception & orientation. Usually begins abruptly, lasts for about a week.
•DEMENTIA (Chronic OBS) :- A chronic & progressive Neurodegenerative Disease that primarily affects the cognitive abilities, leading to impairment of memory, reasoning, thinking & daily functioning.
