Released in 1994 on the Klone record label. The song was actually about having unsafe sex-very relevant at the time... Some good friends in the band including a very young Nicki French! Scary!

Recorded at Corn Exchange in Hertford at a private party. Jeff was guitarist in a group called Ice Cream which recorded "Shout it out" a a single on Fontana Records. Jeff didnt know he was going to be asked up to play-he was a little rusty but managed to get through the ordeal lol

Hi John, so pleased to find this, you just transported me right back to the ‘70’s! I loved the Glitter band, I saw you live 3 times in the summer of 1975 - soo good ❤
That was VERY groovy! 👍
I was always a big fan of the Glitter Band, but hated Gary Glitter he was too vein you were much better without that perv. i still love ya XX (sorry for sounding harsh about Gary but he was) GLITTER BAND FOREVER X
Cliff Castle
Absolutely love ❤️ 😍 💖 this 🐨🦘🇦🇺
I really liked Love in the sun. You never hear it.
Fond memories of when you played Oadby, Leicester in 1981 as the glitter band fantastic gig, best ever. Afterwards we had a students party playing your music really loud and you turned up in our room with a few of your band to investigate the noise, it was great meeting you. You wouldn't remember but, it meant a lot to us 👍👏👏
Wow... Another classic. Sounding great John and nice tribute to Gerry too 😊👍
I remember buying the single when if first came out. First time I've ever heard it played on classical guitar and you made it sound perfect as I knew you would. Always good to hear you John and those Glitter Band Classics. 😊👍
Love this song. Always gives me goosebumps. I can imagine the Manic Steet Preachers covering this.
Loved the glitter band excellent songs 🎵
That was fab, really enjoyed it! Thanks ++
I was in a fish and chip restaurant earlier today having a meal, I heard this playing in the background. I had never heard this song playing there before. Usually they play 80s hits.😊
It is good to hear a different Christmas song. I get tired of keeping on hearing the same old Christmas songs played over and over again in all the shops as Christmas approaches, and in 🍂 autumn!
Talking about a song with The Devil in its title, earlier this year I discovered the Glitter Bands cover of The Stones Sympathy For The Devil, I was impressed. D.J. Johnny Walker has a Radio 2 show called Sounds Of The 70s. At the end of each show he has a spot called Better Than The Original. I contacted his show on line and suggested the Glitter Bands version of Sympathy For The Devil be played just before Halloween. I had a standard reply saying many other songs have to be considered. I heard his show before Halloween, it wasn’t chosen.
Here’s a funny coincidence. I have spent the past five weeks in my sisters house while she is in hospital. I remembered last night that there is a C.D in the top bedroom called Hits Of The 70s. 70s is in big print, it features Goodbye My Love and People Like You, People Like Me. I have just found it, in the very cluttered bedroom. On my mobile is the next video choice, it is your album 70, I did not know you had an album of that title!?
Hello John, an interesting memory came back to me last night just before going to sleep. Are you keen on flying but you are afraid of heights? When I was a child I would read my sisters comics after she had finished with them, when I was in my early teens I liked to read my sisters annuals and magazines, though I didn’t admit to it! I remember you saying in a girls magazine that you were keen on flying, but you were afraid of heights. Am I right?
There is a video of The Glitter Band playing this song on an episode of kids T.V show Crackerjack. I think it had said this episode was screened in early 1976, so I was a little surprised to hear you say it was released in 1977, but you are of course more likely to be right about this. I left a comment on line about how this song has grown on me, somebody gave it the thumbs up sign!😊
I remember when the Glitter Band came to the Villa Marina in 1975. That was a decade before I worked as a general dogsbody at the nearby Gaiety Theatre. Admittedly, I didn’t see them, I wasn’t used to seeing pop bands or live shows when I was 15. However, several of my school friends saw them and they were impressed!
In the mid 80s I worked as a ticket tester and general dogsbody at the I.O.Ms Gaiety Theatre. I saw many shows for free. There was a puppet production of Aladdin on. It featured many pop songs, one was People Like You, People Like Me. This song was featured twice in this show, it grew on me.😊
Fame at last! 😂
I am much more interested in the Glitter Band than I had been in their 70s heyday. I recently heard their cover version of the Stones Sympathy For The Devil, I prefer it to the original! The lyrics are much easier to hear! An interesting thought for Halloween!
Brilliant john, just found this, very talented man, love it 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
still got it John 👍
Great News -A SONG FOR CHRISTMAS -- is being re released on 1st November 2023

Wow a bassist who also know the acoustic chords to the song. Great song John. Well done! How are you these days brother
Best album of the 4 you have released john every song on 70 is a cracker, you are an excellent song writer .Thanks for still making great music.
John, that's absolutely awesome !! I'm a big Fan of your Band since my early childhood in the 70's Now i have all Albums on CD 👍
I remember them well… often played at the Danson youth club, Bexleyheath on Friday nights. One of the best local groups around at the time. Anyone know what happened to them?
Hi! I'm John I was the bass player 😂 my brother played guitar! Unfortunately Geoff our drummer passed away a few years back now. I found fame and went on to be a member of the Glitter Band and my brother met the love of his life in Canada and now lives in Toronto. Like him we are both retired but still do gigs on the weekends!
@@JohnSpringateMusic Hi John… I was the long haired skinny yob that used to book the club gigs with you…. I recall 12 to 15 quid was the going rate! I was still at school but working part time with Peter Wallace who was a local DJ there at the time. I was chatting with an old school pal recently about our miss-spent youth and he said he saw you once with the glitter band, so I started to look you up. I’m living in Australia now. Sorry to hear about Geoff, but glad that you and your brother are still active. Good luck and stay safe… JB
@@jwb8335 cheers John- I think that was one of our high earners £15 if I remember correctly lol. So many people I know now in Australia. Beautiful country hope all is good for you.
Such a hard song to play and sing no background music this was one of my favourite groups in my teens and twenties great guitar playing great singing I never really liked Gary glitter
Great singer/songwriter 🎤
All the Glitter Band members sang better than Paul Gadd.
Excellent
Very nice 😊
Shout it Out is on the 'HEY!' album which I still have :-)
@Monkton Trimble No. They were in a movie called 'Never Too Young to Rock', in 1975.
Loved the Glitter Band. I still have the album 'HEY!' on vinyl. Hearing your songs transports me back to the 70s. I became a teenager in 1973, so the glam period was exciting. 'Angel Face' was a cool song along with 'Just For You', 'Let's Get Together Again', 'Goodbye My Love'...
Hi John, watched a show the other evening Glam Rock, Glitter Band featured, WoW what fab memories Glitter Band gave me, very emotional happy memories. 70.s era was the best!!!!! I regret not having seen the Band live, but thanks for the memories, you were my favourite but i loved all the band. Continue singing and providing us with fantastic memories, All the best John Love you to bits!!!!!!!!!!!!
Many thanks Sylvia much appreciated 👍
@@JohnSpringateMusic Hi Again John, i was thrilled to recieve a reply from you, i have ordered a four album set of all your albums and can't wait to recieve the set and relive all those memories, i will let you know how much i enjoyed the set. And once again many thanks for taking the time to reply it shows how committed to your fans you are,. Best wishes Sylvia
@@sylviasutherland5418 it's great that there are still some fans like you out there. It's much appreciated 👍
@@JohnSpringateMusic John, i am a lifelong glitter band fan and i find it refreshing to be comfortable talking about how good the 70,s were, some people are unable to grasp what a fantastic era it was musically and unless you were around then, can't understand the magic, in particular with someone like you who was involved in providing fantastic music then and continues to promote it today, i look forward to many more years to come and much more good music and song. Hopefully one day, i would be able to see you performing,if you still sing at events, that would be great!!!!! Sylvia
Wow thanks man good memories ❤
I loved The Glitter Band, particularly 'Lets get together again' and 'Goodbye my love'. I still play them in my car today :) The double drums and clap sound was just amazing. I might be knocking on the door of being a 60 yr old soon, but I'm so glad I grew up through the glam rock era. Thanks John and the Glitter Band.
I love this sort of stuff....even if there is no sound
Great rendition of a great song
I remember when the Glitter Band were at their peak, I saw them in the 1970s in the ABC cinema in Belfast, not many bands played in Belfast in those dark days of the troubles, they were brilliant, I'm now 60 and still love their music.
Superb
Tremendous. Every best wish.
So, Spain ended up being lucky to have you live there :)
Seeing you at the Theatre Royal/Norwich doing this song, was one on the most formulative moments of my life... ta :)
Thank You John... Goodbye My Love...I love this song.
Lovely john
