Hi there! From time to time I like to show friends, family, and the world some insight into one of my favorite activities.
Living on Oahu, Hawaii, I try as often as I can to dive into another world and experience all that I can underwater. Bringing home food is just a bonus!
I hope you enjoy my content.

My first try at a short - here's my personal best uhu (parrotfish) from back in October.
And if you guys want to get rid of taxman encounters, you gotta check out CreekKoolers! (not sponsored - but would love to be! :) )

It bled out in the cave from your gill shot. Then it was swimming up to you slowly but Essentially dead with no blood left saying here eat me🤙🏻👌🏻
Monster uhu 🔥
They normally don't get this close :)
Yessah uncle, sorry to bother but when you know you’re diving the day of the dive how do you prep yourself? Like do you eat a lot or drink a lot before your dive I’ve seen that some days my breath hold is longer then the other and I’m not sure why!❤️
Dude! No bother! Great question. I've experimented over the years with all sorts of routines. What works for me these days is a light breakfast of protein and carbs and a lot of water. Too much food (or coffee) reduces my breath hold, for sure. But I've dived with guys that crush a monster beforehand and do just fine...so...I dunno! haha Try different things and see what works for you! Good luck out there!
@ awesome man thanks I’m only 16 getting into spears diving in Hawaii I’ve been diving for a bout a year now😊 but one thing I struggle with is my breath hold I can go 2:10mins on land at my best but when I’m in the water diving it seems to be like 40sec-1:00, do you have any tips or workouts that you do to improv breath holding😊🙏 thank you so much man
I highly recommend a freedive course - they're the best bit of education. I feel that the breathhold comes with experience and calmness - both physical and mental. When you're out there, work on 'active relaxation' - while breathing as calm and normal as possible, focus on every single muscle, one at a time, from your hands and feet, in to your core. 'Turn them off' one at a time. Hopefully you find that helps you calm down and gain some time underwater. Stay safe out there!
Is this east side?
South Shore - secret location :D
Nice catch! I heard uluas over 100 lb tastes meh.. is that correct? Anything 20’s and under way better but how was your 58 pounder? How’d you cook it?
I've never tasted any over 100, but 40 and 50 pounders are wonderful! Some of our current favorite ocean meat! It's a firm meat able to take on any flavor profile. We've done it all sorts of ways; from the air fryer to grill, teriyaki to smoke salt - definitely recommend!!

Top 👍👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Blimey, that's a big, sweet as catch. That's a Hawaiian 'Ulua / Giant Trevally to remember!
AMAZING. I was homesick and googled Whale Song Waikiki and here I am. Thanks for posting.
Aw! Awesome. Glad you found it!
Hat type of speargunand shaft size thx

It sure is a wonderful thing to experience!
Hey brother, if you ever need another dive partner, I'd love to join and help out with gas.
Hey man - thanks for the note. Once the weather calms down maybe we can take you out.
@@tdubspearfishing mahalo brother, congrats on that new Ulua record in your new video you just dropped as well.
Brrrraahhh from surface 💯 yeesssaahh
Bro when it said “from the surface” I didn’t know it literally meant FROM THE SURFACE!🤯 very cool
It was unbelievable! Such an epic sight!!
Nice school of ulua!! Wow...nice catch!!
That nohu took me a second to see lol
Ha! Me too! I'm glad I landed where I did!! Coulda been a bad day!

Friggin love that gun, man!!
That is nuts! Which side?
Not windward. Way too windy over there! haha
That's actually unreal... for O'ahu too.. so impressive man. Congratulations
So unreal! I hope we all get to witness something like that again!
Awesome vid! 🤙🏾
1st fish awesome
LOL I think you have just wiped a fishes nose @1:23, classic! Love the 3 prong action! Well done! Cheers for the adventure, you were going hungry so all good! Dive safe, have fun! 🐟👃😁🤿👊✋
haha - yeah, still can't believe that one! Thanks for the comment and well wishes! I'll try some more 3-prongin.
Thanks for sharing that miss, you got robbed, but lately I've been dealing with surge with shore dives and been missing shots, so feels good to know the good guys get days too.
What is up with these conditions lately?? Hopefully things start to settle and we can all get some good diving.
@@tdubspearfishing winter conditions in summer lol, this is crazy! I'm waiting for that window to take a kayak out for the first time to get to deeper waters, your videos are inspiring me!
I think it might have to do with the wind /full moon. And yeah that was a solid papio that 🥷’d your shaft! We all have days like this. So relatable, thanks for posting 🤙
Good point about the wind/moon! haha - that damn papio - at least he's off getting bigger for next time!! :)
New subscriber here broo from Philippines
Awesome thanks! Hope to get out there someday to spearfish!
Wow was this in Hawai’i Islands?
No - this was on an island in East Asia.
So big fish.
Stay Safe always my friend

n1 got um!!
That shot on the knife jaw 😂! I still haven’t seen one! How’d it taste?
Haha...yeah, that was some luck! The knifejaw was amazing! I'd say very similar to mu in texture and flavor. Nice and flaky, yet firm. Definitely recommend!
Awesome, good to know!
You guys end up shooting it? Honestly one of the best fish I’ve ever eaten. Shot one for the first time a couple weeks ago!
No, we didn't shoot it. Too rare/cool for us to want to. I have heard they're delicious though!
Respect
Yeeeeaaaaah, awesome video! Dream fish right there! Shot my first ulua this year as well!
Congrats! Such a great fish!
what a rush of adrenaline. so stoked for you
Nice catch! Tuning in from Trinidad and Tobago
Cool! Thanks for watching! How's the spearfishing there?
Awesome 👏, friggin good size monster 😮… catch and cook? Your game is big time escalated …🫵🐟🐟🐟🐠
I haven't considered a Catch-n-Cook - but now I will. After all, it's why we do it! Thanks for the comment!
awesome footage of that nohu, that was a huge one. 4k footage looked great
Thanks for letting me know the 4k looked good! My poor old iMac struggles putting that stuff together. :)
Isn't the white margin fish a pualu?
Pualu is the surgeonfish. The whitemargin unicornfish is different from the regular kala and opelu kala.
@@tdubspearfishing I see. I didn't notice that on first watch; thought you were talking about the pualu. The book *Hawaiian Reef Fishes* by Hoover (recommended). I think what you saw isn't the whitemargin unicornfish, which has no Hawaiian name according to that book, but the paletail unicorn fish, which is called kala lolo, as you said.
@@quinnculver4336 Cool man! Thanks for the book recommendation. I'll check it out.
Super impressive to see how calm you are with sharks and taking shots, I'm going to subscribe to your channel!
Thanks, Homer!
O pay loo kala
The classic "Student Manual" (dlnr.hawaii.gov/dar/files/2014/04/fishes_of_hawaii.pdf) lists that as the 'sleek unicornfish'. I can't seem to find where I thought I found the local term.
I think both bluespine and whitemargins are both called Kala in Hawaiian. The opelu kala doesn't have a horn (sleek unicorn). Thanks for the vid, keep up the good work!
Yup, I'll probably stick with 'kala' for now - or, "dang good eating!"
So stoked to see my old gun getting good shots and lots of water time!! Keep the videos coming! Aloha
Hell yeah, man! I'm loving it! Thanks for the comment.
